I don't think he is suggesting you're in-capable, but I do think you could do with the help. If you were 100% competent you wouldn't be working with Lucca. :P:

Because I offer my collaboration I think you're incapable to do this project? I only want to help on this project because I want to help someone. Doing something new, taking risks and addressing a new challenge. Sorry I offered my services...

He is 100% capable, yes. But I asked him to be apart of be project. Looks like someone stoles us some money on other project that we're doing, so, we need something to complete our day and nights.

Did you write your own rendering engine for rooms (or did you customise a pre-existing JS isometric engine? Just wondering

Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
Updates -
* Navigation tabs coded and functioning
* Made several edits to the navigator
* Made edits to the scrollbar so it only scrolls rooms when there is too much instead of the whole tab.
Done a video update so you can see the navigator in action and a few of the latest updates.

Caustik, We wrote our own.

Loving this development. Have seen it on join.me and he makes very fast progress, a really dedicated developer to something new and exciting. It's great to know someone is working on a hotel that needs no emulator and can run on a free web host, and it is WAY faster than a flash client.

I know - I'm just curious as to your approach! :P:
For example - how users will interact with one-another, etc.
-
Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
I have some ideas for this, Not 100% sure yet though. We was thinking about going down the NODE.js root but then It would be required to run a program. If we made it so a frame within the page which contains the room and JavaScript reloads that frame for chat and movement or something.

I believe he'll use a similar websocket system to the one you used in your chatbox.
-
Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
Maybe consider trying it both ways? First make one with the node.js and if you have time try to make the pages handle all of the data instead.
-
Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
I'll think about it, I'll tackle the problems when they come.
-
Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
I think you just need ajax
-
Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
With little to no knowledge of Ajax, I doubt I will go down that root :P
-
Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
This is starting to look really cool. Good progress as usual. Although, I preferred the old name. The new name might confuse some people to what this is exactly, namely the CMS part.

Websockets don't support P2P, if that is the case (assuming that is the approach they're taking)?

I think you really should do something like that. A program that receives information what's send by the client. That program will handle this and will return something to activate a specific action. (This is almost an emulator yes... But if you should use an refresh function the browser would crash)
An idea: what do you think of a fade effect when you open the navigator? And that's opening next to the button? Or a slide effect.
And maybe you can make the hole hotel like the new ideas of illumnia? Should look great.
-
Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
Yeah, I was thinking a template system where you can change the style of the navigators, tabs etc. Would be a future update when the project is complete but you can switch it to Illumina etc. Even if Habbo didn't finish the design, they released enough images for us to complete it ourselves.

Just a question: when the room gets loaded, is it writing html in a specific div of something to show it?

Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
The rooms are coded in PHP, in a div.

Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
I don't know much about performance and jQuery etc but I cannot see how a browser can 'crash' from this. The way we would code the furniture placing would be like clicking the furniture and then that new furniture would be the cursor and when you click it, it would go into the room on top of one of the tile images.

And with 1000 users placing furniture at the same time?

I'm just curious - without a server to communicate with each instance of the client, how will you update each instance for every action, message, etc?

I agree. I know a way to do this, but it will slow the page down as hell.
With ajax or a post function you can get every x seconds a php file where you can 'update' the messages in the client. I don't know exactly how to make that liddle fade effect every time to get to the top with this script.

And like you have already said - while it may be practical for a few users - it will still lag like fuck.

Yes, it could. I think ajax can deal with that (besides that it would crash instantly with so many requests). Maybe he can try node.js.

The only way I can see AJAX achieving what he wants to achieve is with what PremiumEye suggested - which, even with PHP, is very unreliable.
Node.JS? I thought his aim was server-less? I'm pretty sure that even for a web-based Node.JS application, without direct connection to something, it will be extremely unreliable at best.

Server-less? Personally, server-less, I can only see a single player habbo hotel. I suggested Node.js because he said he would work with javascript. That's the only javascript way where I can see this becoming multiplayer - with Node.

Are you deliberately trying to contradict yourself and others?
Let me summarise form what I can gather:
- The aim is a server-less multiplayer client.
- They will not work with AJAX as it is not a great strength but seem willing to learn.
- They were contemplating Node - but this contradicts their aim so I'd assume they're referring to the web-side of things.
- As of now, they're using PHP?
To me, this sounds like a recipe for disaster. Could I get some confirmation?

I guess he will understand that his hotel will not run multiplayer without a server, he'll update less and then he'll forget or give up of the project.

If you should use mysql_pconnect and send all ajax or post requests at the same time there could be a little change to make it. (This was even very usefull for saving stickys and widgeta in my jquery based homes script)

He was too worried about the style, but that's not the most important thing. When he finished the stylization he saw the problem: It is very hard to code a full non-server multiplayer habbo hotel (if not impossible).
But well, we learn with our mistakes!

Stop being so childish. Just because I didn't accept your help doesn't mean I cannot handle the project. I like to work alone, or with somebody I trust (Droppy).
Also I'm not stuck where I am at all, I am working on it gradually but I've had a recent crisis with my company therefore have not made much progress.

I don't care about that anymore.
Besides how are you going to handle that multiple people can walk in a room and can see each other if you're not using a server to handle it?
and don't say 'that are problems if I get to them' or something. If you keep saying this you never will finish this project or make any progress.

Does there have to be a server? No. He doesn't have to make a server. Considering it's only a CMS (TopiaCMS) he can do whatever he wants. There doesn't have to be any multiplayer feature.

Don't know if you followed this project from when it's began. He wants to make the exact same habbo client in html, php, javascript, etc.. So, I think the multiplayers feature is the most important feature here.

Excuse me? People do developments because they want to contribute to the community. I've never seen a contribution from you, and I am trying.
It's a CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, Right? There will be a Housekeeping, where you will be able to edit features within the hotel. Therefore I can call it a content management system. Just because It's a CMS doesn't change the objective of what I am trying to do here.

What? I've followed this project since its beginning and it wasn't supposed to be a CMS, it was the version of habbo without a server and yes, the client and everything. I don't know if you know what a CMS is, but it doesn't envolve the client. I think I don't need to contribute to this community to criticize projects.
And, btw, with this single project, what have you contributed to the community? lol.

Besides how are you going to handle that multiple people can walk in a room and can see each other if you're not using a server to handle it?
and don't say 'that are problems if I get to them' or something. If you keep saying this you never will finish this project or make any progress.
Hey dumbass, do you already see the code? Do you already see our JS? I already did everything to make it possible. Don't talk bullshit.

It's similar to Jabbo, but coded in PHP, JQUERY, HTML & CSS!
It's nothing like a normal R63 hotel!
GTFO KID!
I don't know if you were aware - but, to date, Jabbo clients have all been made to work with a server.

Yes, but it wouldn't work with out all the Javascript.

Keep out the thread, You're not contributing. Fixed a few problems with my site now, so I can resume development.
Updates -
* Added new jQuery rules to hide the select menu on Public Rooms
* Added Public Rooms and Background Image etc
To-do on Public Rooms navigator
* Add the shading effects and room information
* Do a Open/close (show) option which will be controlled in the database

Will do more updates later, Yes I know.. I need to polish the css up. Will do it closer to the end though.

Why are you so persistent? If the developer says he has a plan for it, then stop speculating and wait for the end-product to criticize.

Looks amazing!
I love it. The creativity and the CSS talent you have is far beyond what ever I could achieve. Good luck! :):

Is your plan to make the client look like habbo? You're missing the little things / colors / etc.
