I agree. I know a way to do this, but it will slow the page down as hell.
With ajax or a post function you can get every x seconds a php file where you can 'update' the messages in the client. I don't know exactly how to make that liddle fade effect every time to get to the top with this script.

And like you have already said - while it may be practical for a few users - it will still lag like fuck.

Its still a great idea what hes doing. If done right, you never know... anything might be possible :)

Yes, it could. I think ajax can deal with that (besides that it would crash instantly with so many requests). Maybe he can try node.js.

The only way I can see AJAX achieving what he wants to achieve is with what PremiumEye suggested - which, even with PHP, is very unreliable.
Node.JS? I thought his aim was server-less? I'm pretty sure that even for a web-based Node.JS application, without direct connection to something, it will be extremely unreliable at best.

Server-less? Personally, server-less, I can only see a single player habbo hotel. I suggested Node.js because he said he would work with javascript. That's the only javascript way where I can see this becoming multiplayer - with Node.

Are you deliberately trying to contradict yourself and others?
Let me summarise form what I can gather:
- The aim is a server-less multiplayer client.
- They will not work with AJAX as it is not a great strength but seem willing to learn.
- They were contemplating Node - but this contradicts their aim so I'd assume they're referring to the web-side of things.
- As of now, they're using PHP?
To me, this sounds like a recipe for disaster. Could I get some confirmation?

What? No. I completely agree with you.

I guess he will understand that his hotel will not run multiplayer without a server, he'll update less and then he'll forget or give up of the project.

If you should use mysql_pconnect and send all ajax or post requests at the same time there could be a little change to make it. (This was even very usefull for saving stickys and widgeta in my jquery based homes script)

Don't think either. I think he stucks where he's now. And he rejects every offer for help.

He was too worried about the style, but that's not the most important thing. When he finished the stylization he saw the problem: It is very hard to code a full non-server multiplayer habbo hotel (if not impossible).
But well, we learn with our mistakes!

Stop being so childish. Just because I didn't accept your help doesn't mean I cannot handle the project. I like to work alone, or with somebody I trust (Droppy).
Also I'm not stuck where I am at all, I am working on it gradually but I've had a recent crisis with my company therefore have not made much progress.

I don't care about that anymore.
Besides how are you going to handle that multiple people can walk in a room and can see each other if you're not using a server to handle it?
and don't say 'that are problems if I get to them' or something. If you keep saying this you never will finish this project or make any progress.

Does there have to be a server? No. He doesn't have to make a server. Considering it's only a CMS (TopiaCMS) he can do whatever he wants. There doesn't have to be any multiplayer feature.

Don't know if you followed this project from when it's began. He wants to make the exact same habbo client in html, php, javascript, etc.. So, I think the multiplayers feature is the most important feature here.

Re: [THESCRIPT] TopiaCMS - The most advanced CMS [PHP][HTML][CSS][JQUERY]
He'll probably use Node.JS

When he understood he couldn't deal with it, he called it a CMS.

Excuse me? People do developments because they want to contribute to the community. I've never seen a contribution from you, and I am trying.
It's a CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, Right? There will be a Housekeeping, where you will be able to edit features within the hotel. Therefore I can call it a content management system. Just because It's a CMS doesn't change the objective of what I am trying to do here.

What? I've followed this project since its beginning and it wasn't supposed to be a CMS, it was the version of habbo without a server and yes, the client and everything. I don't know if you know what a CMS is, but it doesn't envolve the client. I think I don't need to contribute to this community to criticize projects.
And, btw, with this single project, what have you contributed to the community? lol.

Wtf are you on?
It's basically gotta be a CMS, to handle all the client features with Javascript.

The big question: Is Papercut able finish it? I still think the answer is yes. I don't know for how long anymore..

Are you not getting this project or something?
It's similar to Jabbo, but coded in PHP, JQUERY, HTML & CSS!
It's nothing like a normal R63 hotel!
GTFO KID!
