    Alternatives for a TCP proxy

    Hey RaGEZONE!

A few months ago I started to use TCP proxies for my client. The reasons I say proxIES is because I've only had bad experiences with them. They always lagg and drop all the connections from time to time. I'm not going to tell you which one I'm currently using, because I don't want to advertise or instead say anything bad about them. They have great support and their proxy is actually one of the best, but still not good. It still drops connections randomly or doesn't accept connections or just laggs like a @&!*&!@(*@&*289, which makes my users pretty upset. (I can understand that, nobody wants to play a laggy retro).
I know because I'm using a proxy it will give a little bit of lagg, but it becomes irritating as hell and I don't want to lose any more users because of that shit.
So my question is: Do you guys know any good alternatives for a TCP proxy? I don't want to pay $100 for my server to be DDoS protected. Also do not advertise for a website where I can buy a proxy, please.

Well I do it on this way:

Website -> Cloudflare (If it's get dropped I gonna switch the site to the ddos protected vps)
Server -> DDoS Protected VPS (take a look at a reseller) with my own proxy which redirect to the habbo emulator server.

If you need any help contact me by pn

Unfortunately there are no real alternatives. You could however host your own TCP proxy, someone released a guide on how to set it up in the tutorials section and gave a link to a host which offers DDoS protected IP's. Alternatively to that, you could host your hotel (or whatever) directly off the said host with a DDoS protected IP address. They offer Windows as well as GNU/Linux for their operating systems.

D(D)oS attacks are an expensive thing to protect against generally. Unfortunately, for you and many people it's now so easy to assemble a botnet or a booter. But it isn't easy to mitigate an attack. Apparently a very popular host (OVH) has joined with arbour networks and offers some kind of DDoS protection, this might be worth looking into. It is also free as well. But unfortunately as of now OVH are not selling servers. You can buy a server from a reseller, though.

On the subject of lag with your current setup, how far is your origin server from the proxy? Try pinging and tracerouting your proxy IP from your server. If you have high latency, that will be causing the lag (probably).

    1. OVH do not accept any orders atm.
    2. Their protection is really bad for game servers, I have seen couple of skids taking down **********'s proxy with 2-3 booters.(OVH protection).

If you are looking for good protection, go with Frantech/BuyVM. I have been using them for the last months and the uptime is amazing. I know Fresh is using them. I pay 16 dollar monthly and we are 2 people using the VPS for protection.(upto 1,2k connected at the same time)

Real DDoS Protected servers can you get with Voxility, but you need at least 500 euro monthly. And stay away from companies like ********** and all the $10/month offers. Most of them have no idea of what they are doing.

Maybe this could be an alternative for you:

This is how the Kal Online Section "fixed" the DDoS Problem. Here you can see the System is up and Protect 11 Kal Online Server: madknight.net but im not sure if this system also work for Habbo Hotel.

It really depends, of what do you want to get, there are many options, some costs more, some costs less, some are more trustable than others, some works better for 'your application', others can offer you even a better fine tunning to your business.

Also, yes, it really depends on your budget :).

Thanks for all the great reactions, I've found a really cheap alternative and it works perfectly, no lagg so far and no random disconnections! :)

Generally on the begining, these things seems to work, however you need to wait, until the coniditions of the service you've acquired are met, then you will know if it is good/stable or not.

As example, using a regular proxy but not being victim of attacks, result in a service that works, or if they are too weak, the same.

So, keep with it for some period of time, then you'll have enough data to choose your option accordingly.
