You have to make sure that the format of your data is properly inserted.

Please explain how thats "horrid advice"? I dont know if the date format is at fault, but the OP asked how to change it so i replied.

Also, "the format of your data is properly inserted" doesnt even makes sense. Maybe you should make sure the format of your data is properly inserted.
