Question about SSO on CMS

I have been working on creating a CMS I had a question though I'm not sure on as I don't work on emulator stuff generally is the SSO ticket generated by the emulator or the CMS. I think it is the cms as looking at the client source on some RevCMS based hotels I see the rev throughs their name in the SSO ticket in that case is there any certain method I need to use to generate my keys if not then I can just generate a random key then the emulator would compare that key with the database when passed via the client?

I know I just spit out a lot but I'm at the stage in my development where I will need to know this information for it to get completed
