I've got a laptop that is having charging issues. It will start to charge then stop charging then stop again. Sometimes it will not charge at all.

I took the laptop apart and re-soder the DC socket input.

It still seems to keep turning on and off when i plug in the charger.

Should i replace the charger or the dc socket?

My main question is; Why didn't you replace the charger first thing before taking the laptop apart to attempt to fix it?
