the hook is that what programmer are you?if you are good programmer, you know java well and you have time so java would be perfect for you.ill tell you about one server.admin knows java very very good so he managed to make l2j server to run with 500 ppl online without any lags and cpu usage was just 20%.i know it sounds impossible but its true ;) and if you are not such a good programmer, you dont have much time then chose l2off.basicly its c1 so almost everything is done, ppl online could reach about 2k with minimal lags....so its up to you to decide ;)

He got it right, to sum it up:
L2j - Indifferent to hardware, instability persists because of bad code - 500~ players.
L2 Official - High hardware requirnments, can support ~1200 people for several hours (C3) or ~2500 people for almost a day or two (C1).

your realy anoying with how many dead/old posts u revive to post some retarded comment that means nothing, l2j can easaly hold 500 if u optimize the code and get rid of things that have not been used in the over 12+ mounths, u just need a strong server and to actualy optimize the code not just download the newst svn and go OMG OMG OMG Y WNT MY SEVR OLD 500 PPL? OMG L2J SUX

A few weeks is within tolerable limits for posting, there are people on here reviving posts that have been dead for *years*. L2j is decent for what it is, that I will admit. As for waffle, if you ever go for a multi-machine one-world configuration, don't ever use Dual Core processors.

If nothing else is running you could probably support a small amount of users, it would also depend on your connection.
