Retro Server in Ruby (Unfinished) - R63A

Here's another one I found, this time in Ruby, same guy made it. Again, I didn't make this, just posting these for archival / historical reasons. If you're interested in seeing what Ruby code looks like this could be one source code to look at as well. It may not be the best, I don't see the use of Ruby for heavy duty servers though. I've seen another Ruby server's development put to a halt because of Ruby's lack of threading / performance features.

Enjoy, don't reply to talk trash, don't be a parasite.

    Ttfn

Aw, no one replied in general!
Thanks for the release, old friend. Nice to see your face around here as well, although you did pop in on occasion.

I made a warning to try and keep the trolls off my thread. Certain users will trash talk work that's not even your own or work that's not finished, those same people don't contribute anything whatsoever, or they're the same people who get trolled when they contribute garbage and decide to carry on the tradition of trash talking lol anyway nice seeing you as well old friend :)

JRuby and Rubinius have pretty good threading implementations, both use native threads and sidestep the GIL from MRI.

This is certainly different. I'm not much a fan of TCP sockets in Ruby, not particularly fun to develop. Cool to see it work as an experiment though!

Yeah, one thing about the JVM that is neat is it allows other languages to take advantage of features not available in their native platforms. I've not player with Rubinius enough though. I'm not big on Ruby either way.

It's fun to an emulator developed in Ruby. I also doubt the performance of the server but it's a nice experiment/proof-of-concept anyway. Thanks for sharing! It's been a while since I've checked out the Habbo development section..
