Re: [ThrustRP/ModernRP] Emulator Release [Version 3.0]

I've been looking for a decent role play emulator, all the decent ones that was being developed fucked off therefore its very difficult to find a decent one. The question is though, is this emu stable & does everything work correctly such as the prison system, bounty etc?

Note: Can you please paste some images off the client and some snippets please.

@Vaulient An CMS this can be used on, would be an edit of RevCMS to work for Roleplays, I believe ModernRP released their skin, but you'd need to edit your class.users.php in RevCMS to allow the cms to update the users table with two names.

Some SWFs are standard, normal R63 swfs, if you don't want to use them, you could search up and google swfs that are used for roleplays and manually add the ATMs and various other swfs files that would be missing from the emulator release.

@Robot The only answer I can give you right now, is that Modern Emulator is stable as it will ever get, for the base that it was made on. The prison system and bounty system works fine, (I'm assuming from the emulator I first gave ModernRP to start off with). Other commands such as Taxi, etc are known to malfunction from time to time, based on other people having this emulator for a while.

Any more questions, I'll happily answer.

I don't see any credits to Butterfly & Snowlight developers.

Most of this was on Global RP's RP Emulator nice to see that you still have it though or atleast the source.

@FullmetalPride, The emulator may take that long due to the lowered number of MySQL Connections in the emulator's configuration file, if it's set higher, the emulator will load faster. Depending on the server ModernRP was run on, they would've had to lower it, to stabilize lag throughout their server.

@MrSpooks, I understand what your saying about it being a shit emulator, I can agree with you, as I know the base is as old as anything else. I can disagree however, the emulator isn't all bad, despite it's being Reality. When making ModernEmulator, I wanted to learn a new base, something like Plus Emulator, etc. Which I might continue on with, if I can learn it well. However, I never seen the error you are showing in your printscreen.

@Retro Callum, I never seen GlobalRP, although if I remember rightly they had WaveRP's fabbo edited RevCMS, (that is however, if I'm thinking of the right RP). This looks like the full source, so anyone can do whatever they want to this emulator, as I discontinued Modern a while back. As stated in MrSpooks reply, I wanted to learn something more stable and suitable for an Roleplay.

Again, any more questions or queries, I'll reply to the most I can.

Let me just split this up, each bullet point represents the mention tags in the quoted post.

    • No emulator should EVER take 30 seconds to load, hell it shouldn't even take that long complete the entire initialisation of the emulator. It basically boils down to it being extremely poorly written. I remember when the development thread for RealityRP was made, the code snippets provided were proof of it being poorly written. If it's poorly written the worse it will perform, although surprisingly Azure seems to work "ok" for most people...
    • RealityRP was built upon Snowlight and using code from Butterfly (and other sources), Snowlight was notoriously bad for handling high connection counts and its pathfinding wasn't the best by any means. And after all that the code that Divide wrote was subpar.

I applaud you for trying to learn but the best way to do that is start from scratch, Google when you're struggling (or ask questions on here in the Help section), the bases you'll find that are publicly available are mostly trash however there is a rare few. The only possible way I can see this becoming stable is if you recode the entire thing, even then it may not be stable at all and it may crash often. It's all part of learning, trial and error! :D
