Re: [ubercms] Housekeeping Live Chat
LMAO. it works just fine.....
Re: [ubercms] Housekeeping Live Chat
you guys make this section go downhill you release anything
Re: [ubercms] Housekeeping Live Chat
First of all refreshing a page every 10 seconds takes less bandwidth then your community constantly hitting pages around your CMS. So compared to the other in coming traffic servers will have, this is nothing. It is a waste, but it doesn't "kill" or "drain" anything to a significant degree.
This release it self is pointless because all you are doing is showing the chat logs in-game? A "Live Chat" is a way of communicating with another person through AJAX (no page refreshing).
If you were to actually make something like this, it would look like this:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<title>Live Chat</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.5.1.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function Initiate()
{
Intervals();
}
function Intervals()
{
setInterval("getChat()", 100);
}
function getChat()
{
$.ajax({
url: "url of page returning all chat logs",
type: "GET",
cache: false,
async: false,
success: function(data)
{
$("div where you want chat to appear").html(data);
}
});
}
windows.onload = Intervals;
</script>
</head>
<body>
HTML form for the inputing of the chat and outputting
</body>
</html>
Something like that ^.

Oh what ever... I just wanted to keep an eye on what was going on on the server.... since i got a dual monitor setup i thought of that nice and quick fix to refresh the page ....
call me a nub all you want but i bet you that i have done more coding then u will ever do....
I have done many front and back ends of websites over the years and know when something will kill the mysql server or will eat the bandwidth...
Its is people like you and other people that have responded to this thread that are going to kill this community.... every time someone releases something 90% of the replies are FLAME FLAME FLAME....
that's why most releases will never make it on here, why release something if people don't appreciate it anyways...., and we are stuck with half finished servers and CMS's.
:blink:
anyways.... nice to get that off my mind.

No, you are the one(s) who make people pissed off.
Noobs like you try to code crap, witch a) does not work, b) laggs you, c) eats all your bandwidth, d) keeps having to refresh -.-
Now, you either learn how to code. Or you can simply leave the development/releases thread(s)... Your choice ;)
Re: [ubercms] Housekeeping Live Chat
Just get a normal AJAX / PHP chatbox.
Re: [ubercms] Housekeeping Live Chat
2/10 - have one for the effort and the other for posting.
I dont understand why you need housekeeping 'chat' when theres a staff discussion board. If you wanted to live chat just go in the client ^_^
