Okay, since I have been asked numerous times, by people who have followed my tut, how to fix their Path variable, I'm showing you the basics of how to fix it.
Note: if you have had extra stuff put in it by installed programs, I cannot help you with that. That is your responsibility, and I will not show you how to replace it
Now, firstly, I hope you all know how to get to your environment variables, yes?
No? Damn, then let's take this from the top, with pics :)
Step one: getting to your computer's property window.
Okay, Click start, then right click my computer and hit properties. 'Nuff said :eek6:
Step 2: Getting to the environment Variables
Okay, next, click the advanced tab, then hit environment Variables
Now under System variables, find path, click it, and hit edit below.
Your PATH variable should at least include this
your done. Now to show you how it worksCode:%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;
Okay you see the little ; things? okay those are separators. now anything that's in between those is called for path in the CMD screen. those three listed there give access to the windows folders for ipconfig and what not. Now if you want to add something, like your java variable, just make sure there is a ;(Semi-colon) then type in your variable, like mine looks like this
this has my system root, my quick time, and my JDK variables listed, all separated by the ; delimiter. Any questions? Yes? post them below :/Code:%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Intel\DMIX;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;c:\program files\java\jdk1.6.0_06\bin;
