    [Tut] Setting up a NO-ip +PICTURES+

    Here is the guide to setting up a NO-IP.

    1. No-IP - Dynamic DNS, Static DNS for Your Dynamic IP
    2. Click, "Sign up now"



    When you get there, fill in all your information



    Now Click, "Your No-IP"


    Click "add" under "hosts/redirect"


    Once you click "add" enter your IP and Name of server.



    To find out the IP you put in the "IP Address" Box, Go to start Then hit "run"


    When the box comes up, type in "CMD"

    Then, When that box comes up, type in "Ipconfig"


    Then type in the IP address you see in the black box, put it in feild "ip address" on no-ip.org .

    Then click "create host"

    it should take up to 5 - 10 minutes.

    There ya go.

    when i type ipconfig it says 'ipconfig' Not Reconized

    XD you did not have to white out the subnet mask there all the same (255.255.255.0)

    if your command shell does not recognize ipconfig as a command, then your Path system variable is screwed over, and you most likely deleted the contents when you were adding java variables or summat..

    @ Gregon13: Not all subnet masks are the same, they can be different with different routers. Our school d links run 255.255.255.254 for a subnet mask. My japanese router here uses 122.421.655.1 for a subnet mask O.o so don't depend on them being the same

    Also, This tutorial is improper...I think that I may repost this tutorial, done properly... You cannot assume that you can get your global ip address from your command shell, as people may be behind routers. You should also have them download the No-ip DUC so it automatically refreshes their ip

    for the IP address part wouldnt it be a tab bit easyer to use " www.WhatIsMyIP.com " ?
    both ways work but that web is a bit faster :)
