Hosting runescape server on VPS

Hey I just wanted to ask for some advice with what VPS you guys recommend, and how long does it take for the VPS to be setup Also, how do I setup my server on the VPS? I saw a few in particular that look like really good offers...

I wouldn't recommend a VPS for a game server... basically a vps is a virtual operating system run on a powerful machine. The upside is you can have as many OSs as you want. Downside is that the resposnse will be slower, that processor(s) is shared with all virtual, and actual OSs and you might not see the data speeds you'd like... they are cheap, but that's what you pay for... get a dedi, it is an actual machine rental.

Either way, I wouldn't trust frugoo... if your source amounts to something decent(lol) then he could possibly take a copy without your knowledge

A dedicated server would be alot better then a vps. Not to mention those specs you named off were shit, a stock inspiron 1501 has more ram&space. Basicly you get what you paid for, which is bs.

I agree... Frantech's dedicated servers are top noch! Plus they help with the legal stuff :P

They start super cheap as well!... I mean, for 12.50 a months, you can get a light dedi with 512mb ram, 500GBs or monthly transfer, 20 gigs of HD space, and you get to choose widows or linux. It's great for a beginner's server, hands down. with a basic webserer and SQL server, you'll eat almost 200 megs of ram. Then, your server can take another 200, which will hold about 100 players(Assuming you have a crappy server which uses over 2mb per player instance). Even after that, their pricing is superb. Although I'm not sure on the processor power, but it doesn't take much to run a decent RS server(I once ran one on a athlon 64 @ 2ghz, with 256megs of ram holding almost 100 players).

The Dedi there is super cheap, and more worth the money than the VPS
