    sad KTRose Respawn Problem

I have used the latest ktrose-source server emu of PY which they said the only server emu of rose that is still alive today (and currently the stable server emu). I have successfully installed the server and the client. It is running but whenever a player dies and chooses to respawn, the WorldServer.exe is crashing.

    Server:
    https://subversion.assembla.com/svn/ktrose-source/

    Client:
    https://mega.co.nz/#!8Fs0xZRa!YPyk7R...qF-rRyQMhSd0xQ

Btw, I didn't use codeblocks and I didn't compile the source. I just used the compiled EXEs located in Binary Folder.

Please help me with this problem. I don't know what to do.

kt-rose updated? what is that something purple released? as long as its rose v128 i believe you should be good, but I've never encountered that problem running the server, but i recompiled the exe's since i changed some server side stuff.

    Re: KTRose Respawn Problem

On Mar 19, 2014, PY posted what caused this error and it can be seen
    here: http://forum.dev-osrose.com/viewtopi...tart=50#p56995
I looked up the code in my server emu and it is the same with the code in what PY posted.
    He said this:
there's not a whole lot I can do to help people with KTRose source when they aren't actually using it from my SVN.
Once again, the SVN for KTRose source is https://subversion.assembla.com/svn/ktrose-source/
But I am using that SVN.

Maybe I should recompile it. What version of codeblocks should I use??

    Re: KTRose Respawn Problem

The compiled version in that SVN is a little out of date.
I have a problem with my CB installation here which means that it doesn't compile the worldserver properly so when testing anything I always run it in debug mode from the IDE.
One of these days I should probably fix it but there's always something more important that needs to be done.
It compiles fine at home so it's not a bug in the source

At least once a month I tend to go back into the KTRose source and update something or other so it's relatively current.

That respawn bug has been around forever. It's one of the very few remaining bugs in the server
@circadirka. KTRose runs ONLY on v112. It will not work on 128 without some serious packet and encryption modifications. It will also require a virtual gameguard server for any version after 124.
I strongly recommend using the modified 112 that is provided since some of the code is specifically written to support some of the modifications in my client.

If there was a decent following for this server/client then I would probably work on it a lot more. It's hard to get enthusiastic about a project with no followers

Ok. I'll wait for that day. Meanwhile, I'll try to resolve this problem and report it later

Off to download CB or any other compilation programs.

    Re: KTRose Respawn Problem

Spawns are working fine for me. Must be your DB.
I've been looking at that respawn issue this morning.
It's a tricky one to track down.
I can get the player to respawn but something in the code in the main loop then causes a sigsegv error and it's a real pain to track down exactly what the issue is.
i thought it might be due to the fact that the respawn is being done by calling the pakDoID function from outside the player mutex so I re-arranged it a little but i still have the same problem.
I'll look at it some more tomorrow.

    Re: KTRose Respawn Problem

I fixed the respawning problem and uploaded the code and executables to the SVN
There's another slight issue that this seems to have caused though. The respawn positions seem to be different than they were previously. I need to go back in and figure that out still but I'm done coding on it for today
