Re: memory cannot be read
Hrm.
Make sure you're running the launcher as an admin..
Also, I'd recommend using a no-ip or some other redirection service. Lastly, since you're connecting to your own server(Assuming you did all those WAN-IP's), find your hosts file(For XP: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\hosts), open it with notepad, and enter the ip in this format:
LAN IP(Usually 192.168.x.xxx)(SPACE)WAN IP for Server Computer.
That should work.. Try that, and tell me if it works. :)

Re: memory cannot be read
The Server Computer's LAN, then the server computer's WAN. :) Let me check up on what's the hosts file for Vista. I'll edit this post.
EDIT: I forgot the etc thing!
Here's a small tut I found on a website:
Changing your hosts file in Vista
By default, if you try to modify your hosts file in Vista, it will not let you save it. It tells you that you don't have permission. To successfully modify the hosts file, run notepad.exe as an administrator and open the file.
1) Browse to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
2) Right click "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator"
3) Click "Continue" on the UAC prompt
4) Click File -> Open
5) Browse to "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc"
6) Change the file filter drop down box from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files (*.*)"
7) Select "hosts" and click "Open"
8) Make the needed changes and close Notepad. Save when prompted.
