    [Balance] Weapon/Armor Balancing

    I've been doing some research into Kal Online balance for a low rate server I'm working on and I'd like to share some of my findings/have a balance discussion.

    One thing I've always felt Private Servers for most games lack is rationally planned item progression...

    From what I've found so far
    Armors have a rational progression up until g60 then go totally nuts

    I'll post spreadsheets for the armors/weapons once i make them look a bit nicer just trying to get the discussion started with this

    why do you think that inix seems to have snowballed the evasion on the newer armors while also adding OTP to negate the evasion they added? to me the progression on all items g60+ just seems very unprofessional... For weapons they snowball the DMG and OTP from g59 on i see no rational reason to do this....

    Anyway I'm working on some spreadsheets to give stats for items g59-100 following the earlier progression if anyone wants them to use as a base to balance a higher rate server...

    Weapons are a bit more complex I'm trying to find a good way to express the increase
    But an example of the difference is
    G70 Bow stats with the progression from 07 and back
    Atk should be 287-302 vs the stats they added with Atk = 430-500

    finally someone spend some time on the balance of new items that they add. as you said after g60 everythingy is just totaly unbalanced (g50 and such) cant dmg them at all.

    good luck and i hope you finish what you started it might take alot of time but at the end the pvp balance will rock;)

    Swords and Bows Progression up to G59 Not Including Imperials. I'll do imperials after i get the basic item progression codified I feel there is probably a rational increase on those as well

    On weaps the stats go nuts at g59
    Weapons G40-59 can be sorted into 3 groups, ATK, Mid and OTP

    Attack has highest MAX attack and lowest OTP : Have Low HP + MP
    Mid has highest MINIMUM attack and mid OTP : Have highest HP
    OTP has lowest ATK in both Min and Max but highest OTP : Have Low HP

    When they made the game they messed up the weapons, Grade 37 items were meant to be grade 40 and the grade 40 NPC weap was meant to be the G45 OTP weap. They took one g40 and made it g37 and replaced it with the OTP g45 so grade 45 is missing its OTP weapon.

    I was having a disscussion recently about Money progression - int style - Is there a table that we could work off? so that we could multiply it so the money drops on the server are fair and accurate!

    I haven't gotten that far yet but when I do I'll be sure to post it here :)

    If I get time later I'll write an app to parse the drop list and add this data to a spreadsheet so I can check on it :) see if i can find a formula

    Lol.. I never knew server owners were going this nuts in balancing..

    Although I never understood why people would add custom armor. I mean, for myself, I prefer int like armors (possibly recolored), but those have been balanced and aslong its a low/middle rate server there wouldn't be any problem.

    Also I dont like custom armor/weapons because they are most of the time donator which is out of proportions compared to the body, a 2h sword twice the size of the characters.. and its statistics are mad..

    So I'm wondering why people wouldn't use int armors, and use their statistics as I assume atleast the official server has thought this well through on how to balance this out.

    Balancing is a nessesity so that you dont get too over powered armour or weapons, ;) also I had an issue at one point where G65 was more powerful then my G70 set ...lol so the balancing is defo needed :)

    Well.. For my opinion the worst servers are the ones that have donator armor / weapons. I suppose i can guarentee that the donator would be able to beat everyone 10 vs 1.

    For other ones.. simply use Kalonline International armor stats. Problem solved? :)
