Server based on Linux

Hello,

We're coding on a kalonline server, based on Linux with a NoSQL Database (Cassandra) included on my own ROOT-server. It's a famous Database used at Digg, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Rackspace, Cloudkick, Cisco, SimpleGeo, Ooyala, OpenX, and more companies that could handle huge mass of data.
It will be a very large project for my friends and me, because we are just at the beginning.

We also want to code the client fully new in DirectX/C++, maybe DX10 or even DX11(if dx11, it's just for vista/win7/win8(released in 2012^^)).

We got enough skills on C++, Java coding so there won't be a problem to realise this.

Don't hope, we can finnish it in the next 2 years :D

i wouldnt waste the effort on creating a kal server from scratch, thats just madness. its a waste of your own time and others. unless you are expecting to profit from it.

go play rift. and then you will see why "trying" to push kal further up the ladder is pointless.

I agree with some of the other posters, creating a server from scratch is utterly stupid actually, what, you gonna make a server for like a shitload of leechers and whatnot?

And if you are planning on stealing all the INT players, well, have fun stealing like the 1000 players that are still active... (And most likely wont change cus they have their hard-earned chars).
