Clan running on Apache (MS SQL edition) [Fully Working] + Auto SoD Score Script

This is partly tutorial because I will guide you guys how to do it.

Lets get started:

First thing you need to download is Apache (v2.2):

and 2nd is attachment I uploaded:
http://forum.ragezone.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=82780&stc=1&d=1290662916

- turn off your IIS server
- Install Apache (be sure its running), you might need to restart PC
- copy mod_aspdotnet.so (from attachment) to C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\modules
- to be sure install this:
http://forum.ragezone.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=83441&stc=1&d=1292415142
- copy ClanContent folder (from attachment) to C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs
- open httpd.conf in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf

on 64bit OS ("Program Files" = "Program Files (x86)")

and add to the bottom:
Code:
LoadModule aspdotnet_module modules/mod_aspdotnet.so

# Use the asp.net handler for all common ASP.NET file types
AddHandler asp.net asax ascx ashx asmx aspx axd config cs csproj \
                   licx rem resources resx soap vb vbproj vsdisco webinfo

<IfModule mod_aspdotnet.cpp>

    # Mount the Clan C# example application
    AspNetMount [COLOR="Red"]/Clan[/COLOR] "[COLOR="Red"]C:/Clan[/COLOR]"

    # Map all requests for /Clan to the Clan application files
    Alias [COLOR="Red"]/Clan[/COLOR] "[COLOR="Red"]C:/Clan[/COLOR]"

    # Allow asp.net scripts to be executed in the Clan example
    <Directory "[COLOR="Red"]C:/Clan[/COLOR]">
        Options FollowSymlinks
        AspNet Files
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from all
        DirectoryIndex Default.htm Default.aspx
    </Directory>

    # For all virtual ASP.NET webs, we need the aspnet_client files
    # to serve the client-side helper scripts.
    AliasMatch /aspnet_client/system_web/(\d+)_(\d+)_(\d+)_(\d+)/(.*) \
          "C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v$1.$2.$3/ASP.NETClientFiles/$4"
    <Directory \
          "C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v*/ASP.NETClientFiles">
        Options FollowSymlinks
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from all
    </Directory>

</IfModule>

- save and restart your Apache server.
- copy Clan folder (from attachment) to C:\

- open SODsettings.aspx and edit:

Code:
	Dim dbhost = "[COLOR="Red"]localhost[/COLOR]"   <- your SQL IP (localhost = 127.0.0.1)
	Dim dbuser = "[COLOR="Red"]sa[/COLOR]" <- your SQL user id (sa = default)
	Dim dbpass = "[COLOR="Red"]123456[/COLOR]" <- your SQL pass here

- open settings.aspx and edit:

Code:
	Dim dbhost = "[COLOR="Red"]localhost[/COLOR]"
	Dim dbuser = "[COLOR="Red"]sa[/COLOR]"
	Dim dbpass = "[COLOR="Red"]123456[/COLOR]"

- open clanInsert.aspx and edit:

Code:
			dbhost = "[COLOR="Red"]localhost[/COLOR]
			dbuser = "[COLOR="Red"]sa[/COLOR]"
			dbpass = "[COLOR="Red"]123456[/COLOR]"

Open game.exe with hexeditor and change your clan files links to:

- Use clanDB.sql (from attachment) to create new Clan Database in MS SQL (same way you created accountdb and other databases)

Start PT and create your 1st clan :)

PS. If you are using Gregoo clan system things should look the same in game.exe

When I find some more time I will port my SoD score script to MS SQL so you will not have to use CLAN TOOL (aspx page will do everything).

Good luck :)

---UPDATE---Auto---SoD---Score---Script

First off all this is compatible with nearly any SQL.dll (Including .dlls that popping out of ), ass long you where able too connect to PT using your current SQL.dll you will be able to get score without external app "SOD TOOL".

This should work on IIS (i did not test it yet ;)).

Lest do this:

- open your SQL.dll in HEXEDITOR
- find:
Code:
BSODRecord%s%02d
and change it to:
Code:
BSOD[COLOR="Red"]2[/COLOR]Record%s%02d
- find:
Code:
http://www.pristontale.jp/Sod/Sod.asp?sno=%s
and change it to:
Code:
http://[COLOR="Red"]127.0.0.1/Clan/SoD2.aspx?SNo=%s[/COLOR]
- find HEX:
Code:
00 00 E9 C7 26 01
and change it to:
Code:
00 00 E9 [COLOR="Red"]07 07[/COLOR] 01
- find HEX:
Code:
00 00 E9 B5 03 01
and change it to:
Code:
00 00 E9 [COLOR="Red"]75 23[/COLOR] 01

- save your changes and thats all for SQL.dll

- extract soddb.sql from soddb.rar (in attachments)
- open SQL Server Management Studio, login and delete your SoDDB database
- File > Open > File... and select soddb.sql, "! Execute" script

- extract files from Clan_SoD2_Script.rar (in attachments) to your main WWW folder
- edit SoD2.aspx

Code:
Dim dbhost = "[COLOR="Red"]localhost[/COLOR]" <- your SQL IP (localhost = 127.0.0.1)
Dim dbname = "[COLOR="Red"]ClanDB[/COLOR]" <- your Clan database (ClanDB = default)
Dim dbuser = "[COLOR="Red"]sa[/COLOR]" <- your SQL user id (sa = default)
Dim dbpass = "[COLOR="Red"]123456[/COLOR]" <- your SQL pass here

- run
if you see word "Bellatra" than everything is installed correctly

Go with friends into SoD kill some MOB and Talk to Secretary Karina, your Clan Score will be there... right away :)

Script will update score only if score is bigger than your current one.
Script is giving sum of scores for people from same clan so multiple people from different clans can go to SoD and still get Clan SoD score.

sod2clan"yyMM", "yyMM" = year and month 2010 12

sod2clan1012 and sod2record1012 contain all information you need to build SoD2 score page (you can get same info as in original PT SoD2 page, who, from what clan, when, how many points, at what time, what lvl, class etc)

sod2clan and sod2record are most important, rest tables are made for SoD page (Its not made yet, you can do it by yourself) and SoD1 scores (not added yet)

script looking for scores within -1 and +1 minute (this might look funny but this is just in case of lag/time update)

as for security issues... I don't see any =P

Right now script is small but you can add anything you want to it.
Players limit, lvl limit to score, how many money is landing in Clan pocket (this can be based on scores, numbers of kill etc.)
I think I made my point.

Good luck!

---UPDATE---SoD2.aspx---v2---MIN-Players-to-score---

That looks good, and I may have to try it on the old 2000 Server.

Double post to get OPs attention after so long. XD

I tried, and it doesn't work.

Here's why
- open httpd.conf in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf
Adding the lines suggested and restarting the Apache service crashes it with a "Fatal Exception: Application requested shutdown in an unexpected manner."

Checked the code and, of course, fixed the "C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/.... blah blah blah which doesn't exist. 2K is still installed to C:\WinNT by default.

Even so, there is no "ASP.NETClientFiles" in any of the sub folders of C:\WinNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework folder. I have 1.0, 1.1 & 2.0 .Net frameworks installed. Any idea what the minimum required framework is, or if this can work with MONO?

Also wondered if keeping .asp files named .asp, and configuring mod_aspdotnet like this would remove the need to change the exe so much:-
Code:
LoadModule aspdotnet_module modules/mod_aspdotnet.so
# Use the asp.net handler for all common ASP.NET file types
AddHandler asp.net asax ascx ashx asmx aspx axd config cs csproj \
                   licx rem resources resx soap vb vbproj vsdisco webinfo [COLOR="Red"]asp[/COLOR]
<IfModule mod_aspdotnet.cpp>
    # Mount the Clan C
    # example application
    AspNetMount /Clan "C:/Clan"
    # Map all requests for /Clan to the Clan application files
    Alias /Clan "C:/Clan"
[COLOR="Red"]    Alias /ServerMain "C:/Clan"[/COLOR]
    # Allow asp.net scripts to be executed in the Clan example
    <Directory "C:/Clan">
        Options FollowSymlinks
        AspNet Files
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from all
        DirectoryIndex Default.htm Default.aspx
    </Directory>
    # For all virtual ASP.NET webs, we need the aspnet_client files
    # to serve the client-side helper scripts.
    AliasMatch /aspnet_client/system_web/(\d+)_(\d+)_(\d+)_(\d+)/(.*) \
        "C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v$1.$2.$3/ASP.NETClientFiles/$4"
    <Directory "C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v*/ASP.NETClientFiles">
        Options FollowSymlinks
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from all
    </Directory>
</IfModule>

So that part worked? If not try 32bit version of Apache.

Apache 2.x and .NET Framework v1 or v1.1 (best would be v1.0.3705 or v1.1.4322) + Windows NT-based OS, Windows NT 6 requires Service Pack 6!
For me its working on Win 7.

This project might work with but I never tried (I don't understand what I need to add to Apache config ;) ).

Also wondered if keeping .asp files named .asp, and configuring mod_aspdotnet like this would remove the need to change the exe so much:-

ASP files will not work with mod_aspdotnet.

Also you can tray doing this:

and telling me the result (debug is "on" inside every .ASPX file).

Upgrading to Service Pack 6

trying run some sample .ASPX file to see if mod_aspdotnet is working at all

clan files need to be in C:/Clan unless you changed it, bin folder need to be there too (with .dlls inside)

you must connect to sever using sql.dll and clan.dll.

Good luck :)

So that part worked? If not try 32bit version of Apache.
I'm afraid you misunderstand. There is no such thing as 64-bit in Win2K, therefore clearly I am using the 32bit version of Apache... I have not alternative. So Apache works, unless mod_aspdotnet is installed, then it crashes... hard.
Apache 2.x and .NET Framework v1 or v1.1 (best would be v1.0.3705 or v1.1.4322) + Windows NT-based OS, Windows NT 6 requires Service Pack 6!
For me its working on Win 7.[.QUOTE]Vista and Win7 both operate on NT6, which doesn't have a service pack 6 released for either of them.. but I guess you mistyped, and meant Windows NT 4, Service Pack 6... which only just barely supports the .Net Framework at all. Win2K is pretty much XP, (Pre SP2) but with the WinME Explorer.
Also with no UXTheme support, ClearType Font Smoothing and a whole heap of other frilly stuff that makes the system look nicer and work slower... except System Restore and Boot Cache (which combines all the drivers and services at your first / last boot into one file to speed up starting) which try to put some performance back into XP.
So it would seem that I do meet those requirements. Even if it's only just.
This project might work with but I never tried (I don't understand what I need to add to Apache config ;) ).
Fair enough. That makes sense.
ASP files will not work with mod_aspdotnet.
Ahh, I'm not suggesting the pages be written as ASP, but remain ASP.Net files, with the wrong file extension.

Your config has no association for .asp files, so they would just be displayed as though they where a text file. Adding .asp to the list of file extensions associated with mod_aspdotnet should mean that mod_aspdotnet is asked to run their content.

As an example, I re-wrote a small site originally written in Perl into PHP. Rather than have everyone update bookmarks, I named all the PHP files exactly the same as the Perl ones, and told the CGI handler that the executable that would execute .pl files was "C:\PHP5\php.exe".

This works, because PHP doesn't actually care what the extension of the text file it is given is, it only cares that the contents of the file is valid PHP script commands, and the web-server doesn't care what CGI / Fast-CGI interpreter is processing files of a particular extension, it only maps certain extensions to certain executables.

I realise that both Apache, and IIS would rather use modules (.dll or .lib.so files) but from the config, the principal remains the same.

Another example, is if I write a VBScript file, "myscript.vbs" and run it, it works fine... It's handled by (Windows Script Host / Active Scripting as it was formerly termed) so I can rename it "myscript.wsf" add the line "<script language="VBScript">" at the start and "</script>" at the end, and it will still run fine. I can then name it .vbs again and it will still run fine without removing the script tags. XD
Also you can tray doing this:

and telling me the result (debug is "on" inside every .ASPX file).
Without mod_aspdotnet I get the script displayed on the page, with it installed the Apache server crashes on start up so I get
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.
Upgrading to Service Pack 6
That is not possible as Microsoft do not have, and have assured us they will never release any . I have SP4 and all relevant updates since it's release.(If automatic update is doing it's job)
trying run some sample .ASPX file to see if mod_aspdotnet is working at all
I don't need to, and couldn't possibly because I KNOW that Apache isn't working at all if mod_apsdotnet is installed
clan files need to be in C:/Clan unless you changed it, bin folder need to be there too (with .dlls inside)

you must connect to sever using sql.dll and clan.dll.

Good luck :)
Yea... that's all consideration for after I can get mod_aspdotnet to not crash Apache on system / service startup.

Thanks for the advise, and sorry for the misunderstandings. I try to be clear, but I guess it doesn't always work. XD

Think I'll try uninstalling all dotnetfx packages, and re-installing the developer / SDK equivalents... as they tend to be more complete.

Yes I get that but I don't like situation where file is leading to file that is shortcut of that file, keep it short and simple ;)

Download
mod_aspdotnet-2.x.0.2006-VS.NET-source.zip (newest snapshots might be mod_aspdotnet2_20070817.zip)
from

or from SVN
Code:
svn co https://mod-aspdotnet.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/mod-aspdotnet mod-aspdotnet

and compile it.

Win2K is pretty much XP, (Pre SP2) but with the WinME Explorer.

Problem might be in your OS, mod aspdotnet should work on XP and will not work on ME (don't say that name again, I can't imagine I am using ME for internet again ;) )

If after this mod aspdotnet will not work... try mod_mono-win32, I can help you when I get some free time.

I wasn't suggesting anything as complex as that, but something more simple than modifying the strings in the exe. Just rename files and add a file extension to the mod_aspdotnet config. XD

Indeed, but that is because ME didn't run on NTFS or have the NT core kernel securing it.
Actually, back in the days before ME/2K, I would rather (and still do) use NT4 for the internet rather than install TCP/IP stack on any Win9x OS. XD

I kept them strictly IPX/SPX & NetBEUI. I always had BeOS and NT4 Workstation in Multi-boot so I could use the net without exposing Win9x to it.

XP Pre-SP2 is nearly insecure as any Win9x system if it is not installed on NTFS, as much so as XP SP3 is insecure compared to Vista or Win7 because of the UAC system. Which is to say, UAC improves Windows security as much as NTFS.

Reasoning: Without NTFS you have no User or Group permissions what-so-ever for any file object, so any user is as powerful as the "system" process it's self. With UAC you can safely run everything as a "user" and not have to be logged in to an "admin" account just to play video games or surf the web, and still gain "admin" rights when you need to install such software.
As to it being an OS problem with 2K, I think this is partially right. Win2K (unlike ME) is compatible with any .Net framework below v3.0 but it requires more dotnetfx files than XP which has some of the appropriate dependencies installed even if no .Net Framework is installed. Even NT4 can run up to .Net 2.0.

Okay... I've tried all sorts, but this is what I have found in official documentation:-
  • Microsoft say "%SystemRoot%/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/ASP.NETClientFiles" is not supported in RTM of .Net Framework v2.0, and is only present in the Beta releases where it presented serious bugs.
  • mod_aspdotnet say they don't support Apache post Apache 2.0, and the direct installer will not accept an Apache v2.2 installation directory as being a valid install of Apache.

I even tried installing IIS, *shudders* and still have no joy. mod_aspdotnet crashes Apache every time. :(

P.S. That folder doesn't exist on my Vista install either, and according to MS it shouldn't exist anywhere unless you installed the Beta of .Net 2.0.

added, should work with IIS and Gregoory .dlls.

Good luck.

PS. bobsobol don't worry I will try to run this on mod_mono (mono run on port 8080 so more editing for you ;))

I've fully updated all .NET libraries, and all .NET applications run fine. They also work great on IIS with ASP.net, but mod_aspdotnet is still an absolute no go. :(

Confirmed. mod_aspdotnet don't work on Windows 2000 apache 2.0/2.2 (but it should).
I get apache error too when I try to load dotaspnet module. You can try compile code (in changelog they saying it can work even with 2008)

Unfortunately I don't have all headers so I gave up in halfway =P
But you probably have better development environment than me.
I was missing apr.h and when I found one I am missing sys/socket.h
so maybe you will have more luck.

O and one more thing, mod_mono on windows is really crappy. I am not sure if its working at all. When I tested XSP i noticed that it can only run C#... so I wrote some C#.NET test scripts and I must say they are not working correctly so there is no point in porting VB to C#.
You can always try running your Clan files on mono under Linux.

PS. I think you mentioned that you have windows 2k3?
___________________________

Its working on WINDOWS 2003
___________________________

Apache 2.2

mod_aspdotnet must be installed (installation was not working on win2k and probably thats why it was not working)
.net framework v2.0

rest of configuration is the same... my windows 2k and 2k3 had C:\Windows folder if yours have C:\WinNT than change that in config.

Hmm... I have, I just don't use it. I tried it on 2000 and 2008 and got the same thing, Apache just crashed as soon as it saw mod_aspdotnet. :(:

My reasoning is that I see no improvement in services available in 2003 over 2000, but does introduce a lot of services I don't need that just waste CPU time and memory. Where I can see that 2008 does make major overhaul of kernel improving security considerably. So while I still loose CPU and memory, I can also see that I'm getting considerable benefit in return for that loss.

This is probably the same reasoning I will continue to apply to Windows 7, when I already run bought Vista.

But I'm guessing it's worth trying a 2003 install (or even an XP one) just to see what feature mod_aspdotnet uses that exists in them, but nothing newer or older. :s

I doubt I have much better dev environment than you, as I'm guessing mod_aspdotnet is built with MinGW GCC, the only other possibility is to go completely to Linux (Posix) emulation with Cygwin... which I hate with a vengeance.

MinGW is fine, but without any package management (RPM / apt-get / portage / pkg_add) it's very difficult to manage dependencies... the problem is that each Unix clone does this in a different way, so how should any Posix compatibility for Windows do it? Windows it's self runs "Side-by-side configuration" under .Net to avoid dependency issues, that's really not appropriate in this case... other than that, Microsoft just expect you to package everything your application depends on with your application.

Are you sure? Because on 2008 mod_aspdotnet work as well as on W7.

Again did you install mod_aspdotnet?

not .so copy from .rar I've uploaded.

2k8 should have .net v2 so all you have to install is apache (my version was 2.2.15)

you might get this error while executing

Code:
The current identity (NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM) does not have write access to 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files'.

Just create "Temporary ASP.NET Files" folder with permission to write.

Rest of configuration should be same as in 1st post.

If it fail again for you than I recommend uninstallation of apache, mod_aspdotnet and .net framework v2. Delete folders, restart PC and install them again in order .net framework, apache and mod_aspdotnet.

Ahh... No I used the files you gave because the files on SourceForge simply told me words to the effect that my OS isn't supported and I should get the latest version from the location I downloaded the latest version which isn't compatible with my OS. XD

I did spend some time hunting around for a zip or something... but the closest I could get was a tar.gz of the source. :(: I'll look at it again though.

---UPDATE---SoD2.aspx---v2---MIN-Players-to-score---
Number of how many players are needed to score in SOD2 has been added.

For details see 1st post, if anyone using it :)

@bobsobol I don't understand what you are looking for =P
There is only one thing you might look for and its mod_aspdotnet-2.2.0.2006-setup-r2.msi

I will attach it to this post.

Its not ".." its 00 00, "dot" have code 2E in hex.
But yes you put 00 00 00 after because full link is shorter than original link.

Actually, so long as the string ends with "\0" (00 in hex) then any characters after will be ignored... but it's much nicer to actually zero them all out.

These files are the normal IIS files adapted to work with Apache.

Why not just use the original IIS files from which these where modified, if IIS is your thing?
