Yes... you are missing the lightning BMPs. They where in the version I posted, so they should all work.
PS... I can't load the waterfall MAX file because it says I'm missing a required plugin... but I can see some "issues" with the meshes. (not sure if I'm up to fixing them, but I'd like to try)
Can you (sungam3d) or anyone else save a .FBX of it that I can import into MAX? (I believe that should resolve the issue)

Actually, the reason most of my textures are different is because I already had those fixed from the Pre-AOR client, and moved those over right away, then I fixed the SMD to accept them from the cSelect folder rather than somewhere in field\Fore1 or something. :s (can't remember, but it wasn't appropriate)
I've since found another minor inaccuracy in even my "fixed" version. So I'll see if I can't figure out exactly what is needed and get the CPU power (and more importantly the free memory, working at 98% capacity of my maximum 20Gigabytes of swap space right now. :s) to check the changes and upload a final patch.
I'll update this post when it's up. :wink: Really would appreciate an FBX of that waterfall though ^^

Confirmed, and minimal files. You shouldn't need anything but these files, anywhere but in the cSelect folder for this character selection to work as illustrated. (provided you can log in and get to the character section normally of course)

I'm currently in Eastern Australia, working on rewiring water damaged houses after the massive flooding in Australia.
Luckily my VNC is still up, was able to pull the files from my comp and upload em.

.Max prob's didn't work because I'm using 3DSMAXV2011.
But I'm still having problems with it, exports to ase perfect, game loads up, shows login screen fine, all chars display, but when you close game and restart it, game crashes, it can't load the smd file for some reason :S. It's got to create the smd from the ase every time.
However if i delete everything, and just have a flat surface for the chars to load on, it works perfect.

Thanks sungam3d. My understanding is that FBX (especially in it's ASCII form) is the modern equivalent of ASE. It's better, because it can cope with complex animations and all the other things 3D Studio can do these days, and you can both import, and export it on all of the current crop, and there are plugins for some of the older version and other 3D programs as well.
From my point of view, it's just a matter of getting rid of incompatibilities between slightly different versions of Max.:rolleyes:
I also understand that the ASE files PT loads "comfortably" are those exported from discreet 3D Studio Max 5 (or thereabouts) and modern versions can (I suspect) include many functions PT gets quite confused over.
I'm looking into how it loads ASE files and makes SMDs little by little. I don't really understand it, but there are bits and pieces that I can see we can do in modern Max (still using a friends 2009 edition here) as being problematic. I got an old old copy of Max 6, and it seems much more "in line" with what PT expects. :wink:
Okay, I've made several careful investigations... sadly, I'm really not got at using Max, and have difficulty even producing a single flat plane and positioning it.
Here are some things I've learned about "the beautiful" waterfall Character Selection scene.:-
- The ASE file works fine, but the centre (furthest forward) character doesn't show, the first time you log in.
They do show, if you back out, re-enter the same (or different) login and check again.- The SMB the game produces the first time it can't find one and has to revert to the ASE, crashes the game the next time you try to load it up. So you have to delete the SMB each time before you log in.
- The FBX file works smashing in Max '09 but, produces an ACE file which is wildly different from yours sungam3D containing many many more vertices and planes with quite different vector co-ordinates.
- An ASE export from that produces an SMB that does not crash the game the next time you load it.
- The ASE (or resultant SMB) it exports shows complete blackness and no characters at all on the character selection screen. :(:
The thing I find most confounding is that the game can read and use your ASE sungam3D, but cannot later read the SMB it produces from it. So it can read all the instructions in your ASE, but doesn't correctly interpret something in it to the SMB... which I have always considered to be simply a memory dump of the internal binary form the game stores the ASE in.
First of all, sorry for bumping this but I am really interested in any progress made in this area. I tried several months ago to make a new char select screen but I seem to have failed at the same point as SunnyZ (some characters just wont show :s).
So I just wondered if SunnyZ, bobsobol, OP or anyone else has got some more valuable insight in this?

Okay I think I got it "sorted" now.
* I took the same map as I used before (where the char in front didnt show)
* I logged in and let the map convert
* Relogged (Pressed Exit and then logged in again) so that I could see All chars (as you stated above)
* Exited the game and Started it again.
* Tada.. everything worked :P
I dno if this is a good "fix" but its a fix :P Though I'd rather have it working on step 1 :P

Image tags only work from whitelisted hosts. I've asked for the list to be expanded, and MentaL said he would, but so far, none of the suggested free hosts I've offered have been added. I guess he hasn't had time yet.
