Re-Release Operz first jPT 4096 server

    Re-release
    [server files] [jPT] first edition
    by Operz
I guess we get about 4 requests a year about how we first got the original server and if it can still be found here.

To my knowledge, the first release of it here was Operz first release, though I know he also posted it just as a server.exe and data files... with no SQL and stuff before that, and as far as I can tell that's the first time it was released outside of the CN private servers who had been using it and learning about it for a little while.

The first link in that thread is still live and active. But it's clearly still wanted, and not everyone knows where to look for such an old post, so I thought I'd re-upload it to some new hosts to ensure it doesn't get lost.

It's called "guide.rar" since it comes with his complete instructions on how to use the server as well as some PHP account registration and other basic database setup files, and when I got it I broke it down into Guide and Server so it would match the directory structure I have for PT related files... so even my copy isn't so pure to the original post.

This file is the same as his. I just grabbed it, and submitted it to a bunch of other free file hosts.

Re: Re-Release Operz first jPT 4096 server

Re-sharing... of course none of the credits for this are mine. It's just too precious to loose. The source thread is locked (with good reason) but the file must live on.

All thanks to Operz and co. I'm trying to get a better feel for who helped on this, I know Operz got the files from Vilifuu, (probably) jeeb also made a now broken release (if it wasn't to begin with) I suspect shagpub and shaz had some hand in it, and I wouldn't be surprised if there where others too.

Clan and SQL became later releases. They had the DLLs but it took some breakthrough from HappyHardcore (aka Tetris) to make it work at all.

I also know Dr.Green (aka yulipop), telatoro and Quantumfusion where involved in ironing things out... but most of these people are long departed from our community. Sandurr, MoonLightChild (?) and maybe silence1 should be credited, but I don't know how much was help via chat / forum, how much was actual code and implementation and how much was no help at all.

I'm fairly certain that Sandurr and Quantumfusion did most of the work on the Clan system but, as I say, that came later. Not long after that, everyone was trying to rip stuff of Sandurrs server "rPT - Renaissance" and QFs server "SGPT - Shanghai". (though I believe he ran a "FusionPT" as well) It's not surprising they stopped coming here.

    Oooh. Tough question.

Strictly speaking a jPT pre-release client. The server executable should work well - since it is made from a client that still had too much server code left in it. (if you have an OS old enough to still run it in client mode)

Re: Re-Release Operz first jPT 4096 server

There are 8 in the OP. The ONLY client that should work without alteration is the server it's self.

    READ what I have written.

To use any other client, you must modify either the client, or the server.

But the server is a client and always has been.

    --- EDIT ---

Because I know there are a lot of people who are not the fastest, or bravest Olly'ers out there. I'm going to post some patches to make the server work as a regular client more easily. (This trick is used by many Hackers to infiltrate your servers! Use it to protect your self, and for Gods sake think about how they may do that! I cannot and will not document it here!)

There are 3 server executables in Operz release. 4096.exe is a partial translation, and has the GFantisy LordPE rubbish in it the same as everything else. Ignore it! server4096b.exe is another LordPE attempt that seems to have been stillborn. Delete it!

When I talk about the 4096.exe I mean the file "server4096.exe" in this release. (or other similar releases, where it is often simply named "4096.exe" but not the same as the file of that name in this release.)

Patch it to work as a client without needing PristonSQLdll.dll or getting upset about security contact from HanGame, using one of these files and methods.
For complete idiots, (no offence) use this executable patch. Just drop "server4096.exe" on it, a "DOS" (correctly NT console) window will flash up for a moment and the patch will be done. (it may flag on AV software) Packed in a RAR file because it's silly big for such a small patch.
    (23,818 bytes packed.
    SHA-1 = AE5E35604D3C4F2630B76085F0D05BB2E7D1BA5A)

For intermediates (especially if you love playing Playstation games and other console ROMs on your PC via emulators) use this PPF file with PPF-O-Matic or similar. Packed, again, in a RAR file because it's still silly big.
    (30,927 bytes packed.
    SHA-1 = 3184DE40FFEF556C4612DDA097C91C3EA7A07373)

For the complete Geek, you only need this tiny bsp file which you can use with BSPatch.exe from the command line. Not packed, because it's smaller than the header of a RAR file.
    (563 bytes Not Packed!
    SHA-1 = F1174FC1AD401EF469C8DEF01562CE134FFC872A)
Oh... and FYI it becomes jPT 4008, or Version 4.0.8 Japanese Priston Tale client. ^_^

I considered cleaning up Operz release before re-releasing it... but since it is well documented in the form it was in, I decided not to change anything about it. Note even the things I know are pants.

Despite those things, it is still in a cleaner state than any later release I have seen. In some (maybe many) ways, even cleaner than my PPT. (which also has issues of it's own)

P.S. Thanks to MyDataNest for free and very easy file hosting. (Let me know if anybody has trouble with this host, I can find more, but I have found few so simple.

I see that you made some changes only to function 00415920 but after patch server4096.exe does not work with server4096_server2client.exe, what hotuk.ini/ptReg.rgx you use, I need old configuration in .bmp (forgot name)?

Problem is in 0051DBB0 when function go to conditional jump in 0051DBCF, after calling function above registers don't have server address (127.0.0.1 in my case) and packet is not send. What am I missing?

    __EDIT__

Added Idata.bmp and now I can connect... but I get DC after I login, all is in japanese so I can't tell but I think its just DC (running in test kPT client).

Maybe someone have old jPT 4.0.8 setup?

Re: Re-Release Operz first jPT 4096 server

The only message in jPT or KPT is "Disconnected from Server"... it was Quantumfusion who renamed them DC(1) to DC(5) or WHY.

I don't have ldata.bmp, but connected fine. (I can read enough Japanese to get by without translation, and worked from JPT clients long before I switched to the KPT ones because people wanted features JPT didn't yet support.)

jPT clients are usually cleaner and faster than their KPT counterparts, and many of the speed-up changes I make to Butchered come from my knowledge of jPT 24xx series clients.

Love the CD shot. I didn't know PT was ever released on CD.

ePT have them named from like... forever?
It was not DC(0) to DC(4)?

Same for me but only if its jPT client that is not server4096.exe
But the problem still remains... DC right after I login.
Normal jPT client does not do that but you can't pick up items from floor.
Server4096 will not run as client unless I add hotuk.ini.

Do you mind sharing your configuration that let you use server4096.exe as client and not DC?

They even have wedding dresses... they scarring me XD
If kPT ever die (PT2 showing thats possible) than jPT will take over for sure.

At times when connection was slow and typing google into google could break internet triglow was selling CDs.

You still can buy something on eBay, but its PPT... not worth as much as ePT 1.0.0 :)

Re: Re-Release Operz first jPT 4096 server

I've changed my settings now... many times since I last tried jPT 2.40.0 but I know I could see and pick up items, and was considering using it instead of ePT as a base for my PPT.

I didn't know there ever was a Filipino Priston Tale. o.O Wow!

I didn't try picking things up with the modified server. (jPT 4.0.8) Just made sure you could log in, and (since it is the same program) assumed that everything else would work from there.

I believe I had to change the port on jPT 2400. I'll investigate each client, find out what configurations they are looking at and using and if 2400 works better that 4008 converted, then I'll post that up too.

But you would think the server, returned to client mode would work better connecting to it's self than another client wouldn't you?

Maybe not "connect better" but unlock some features. Saving cash shop items etc. I don't remember but pre aor server-client had same problem, dc when run as client and connect with itself? Or it was that he did not had server login inside, but that make me wonder what they are thinking, adding server to client.
I need to do more tests to see why server4096.exe DC me when he connect with itself as client :/

PS. what oldest version of jPT you have?

    __EDIT__

After I login my account name end in "BlackUser" folder and I DC... could this be the reason.

    Ouch it hurts so badly....

Aye clients between versions used only to change port and in some cases the xor byte.

Im think that server.exe sents some extra stuff but i cant remember so exactly. So long ago.

Sorry telatoro. IMS there wasn't all the great tools for PE modification that there are today. And LordPE used to be the best that existed.

I usually liken it to going back to using Linux fdisk (having to specify start head, cylinder and sector for each partition, then specifying the ending head, cylinder and sector AND specifying the total number of sectors in each partition, and if you get one wrong your MBR is hosed. XD) after having used Partition Magic. XD (Drag, resize, reformat, add, delete, stretch... okay update the drive now please.)

@Vormav: What!? You mean you don't have a hidden, read-only, system folder called "blackuser" in your install to prevent this? That was 100% standard installation procedure in the day. XD

As for the oldest jPT I have, this is it. 2400 was the client I used with it most, but that is much newer.
