Testing K5 on wondows 8 again...

I would like to clarify, that the files have been working fine so far with windowsXP64bit.

I am trying to migrate it to windows8 and the following problem arises:

1. The Patch isn't patching.
2. Conducted several tests on connection settings and installed several MSSQL Servers and the most fine working one is MSSQL2005ADV but it has bugs in SQLDAEMON.EXE
3. STTantra.exe s not working.
4. Can login but cannot pass through server selection.

Lets discuss some method here. this is not a common error. but rather my unusual error encounter in mounting the server. Thanks for the guides here I have successfully managed to make the server work. However doing the same process leads me to a multiple problem, while the difference is the OS. The IP is the same and the directory are the same.

IMO :
1. Check if the STTantra.exe and HTLauncher.exe is run As an Administrator ?
2. Check HTMessage.txl if the ip is same as your server.
3. Filewall, Turn off or allow server accept connection.

I dont have any problem running in Win7 64bit.

I created this batch file for UAC/Administrator Bypass for Windows Vista, 7 and 8. Just edit it with notepad and see if it will work for you after you disable your firewall.

I have installed in a separate PC with separate IP and it worked just fine. My very wild guess is the PC.

already done sir. and still not working.

Here's the same setup on windowsXP64 bit. the difference is the MSSQL 2008 R2. But It does work on EXPRESSSQLADV2005 or MSSQL2012. So my guess is the PC. Unfortunately I will share every fault and result I could encounter.



I haven't updated this as I am busy working on something else. Anyhow. heterojeneo if you are online, please aid me on how to's... I'm at 63% of the development. I need your explanation and guide for this.

Note: I only want it on LAN. I cannot put it online since I don't have the gut to.

well, can you share how you setup SQL and the login? because in WindowsXP64bit I don't have problem with it. on ly with windows 8. 64 bit or 32 bit.

As you can see my posted SS I am unable to pass through server selection page. But in windows XP64bit, it does work directly to character selection and can play without experiencing disconnection and can even share the server to let other connect.

I finally got it working on windows 8. However i couldn't figure out how the Rank worked and the Item mall. Rank00.txt and MRank00.txt has 0 bytes in size and No taney in the item mall.

Server under Windows 8 has been addressed. It is now running as intended. I'll just search for tutorial on Ranking and Item Mall. My database has not yet been completed. It does not have an Item Mall and Ranking update. But the root cause of the problem has been addressed.

My actions:

1. The error on login has been addressed by replacing the htmessage.txl (Thanks to heterojeneo)
2. The hex and modifications on htlauncher, sttantra.exe has been addressed (all credits to jbeitz107)
3. The Batch file for administrative login plays a very important role (credits to jbeitz107)
4. The Christmas client theme clientres, mainUI, NPC and other hpk files has been modelled(credits to TantraPH Original Client)
5. The connection to server selection has been addressed (credits to jbeitz107 for the enlightment)
6. Mounts has been remodelled by 3D studio max.
