I still don't see why people just don't pay the extra cash and go Frantech, and I mean, c'mon, 12.50 for a 512MB vps, thats pretty darn cheap.
and your also getting the DCMA protection.

Sure they're are other hosts out there, but if you don't like a cheap host, then just don't go with it. It was a cheap host to begin with!

Is 512MB enough to host a server though? That's the question.

VPSLand is just horrible, I was one of their customers about a couple months ago, their support is just terrible, it takes like 3 days for them to reply to your email. When I give them a call, it always forwards to their messenger.

The only reason why I use VPSLand is for small website hosting and thats basically it. If you want to use VPSland for private server hosting, good luck.

    Re: [discussion]VPS (VPSLand)

    @Morhsn
"so is that good for a server with 50 people or more? If not are there any other cheap hosting companies?"
He wants cheap, so I am answering his question. That's what matters in this thread.
Stop getting angry, you replied to my post.
Also accused my host of overselling, so I went on ahead and got a screen shot from David:
    http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/2285/picturem.jpg

Also whmcs ain't that useful, well to a host with alot of downtime of course whmcs is a must. You need a good way to track the huge amount of tickets you get. Sales questions? Your website should have enough info. When I bought all I did was pay and I got my VPS, never had to contact David for support.
I am not making MeoHost look good, it is good and I am proving it.
Why am I doing this? Simple I got great service from them, word of mouth best advertisement. Prove me wrong.
You don't get respect you build it and earn it. If not it's just pity for you.
Here is a recent speedtest I did on the vps I bought:
    http://www.numion.com/YourSpeed3/Sho...?ID=73,653,107
It is more accurate then speedtest.net, read FAQ on the page. It gives some insight to why.
Can you tell me if your VPS speeds are this fast?
See this is why I support MeoHost, I get around 100 MBPS for upload and download nearly 24/7. That is more than any Maple Story server would need. I know this myself, because my friend is using his VPS for a Maple Story Private Server.
Also your pretty dumb, you can only oversell in Virtuozzo, which must be what your using since your quite fond of overselling. Show me another virtualization software that allows overselling? This is why Hyper-v is quality like I have mentioned many times. Yet you come in here saying stuff you can't back up. You can't oversell in Hyper-V, it is the best Virtualization tool. Costly, which makes VPS powered by Hyper-V Expensive. Another plus why i picked MeoHost, they are the cheapest Hyper-V VPS Provider. How do I know this stuff, because I have experience in the Industry. Whether users from RZ know it or not, I may have hosted them before on Virtuozzo. So I know first hand the panel is nice, but the vps performance is shit. That's why I stopped stilling, only reason my Virtuozzo VPS were good was because my servers were rented from FDC, Xeon Servers + FDC Bandwidth makes up for Virtuozzo being a horrible virtualization software.
Look if you have no idea what your saying or what I am saying, just quit already. Don't reply correcting me saying I need to respect you, cause I don't.
"It's probably some kid that bought a server and is overselling it to 50 customers."
Stupidest thing I have heard, it just irritates me. You could have googled about what I was saying in my or visited David's site to realize the VPS are Hyper-v VPS that can not ever be oversold. Just admit to yourself and anyone reading this thread that you have no idea what your doing and don't reply.
Lastly, only reason I am replying is due to your reply. God, your parents must have given you some really bad genes. Your reply is so stupid.
Sorry if this post bothers others, but I really felt pity for Morhsn, so I had to point out where he was super wrong.

Why not host it off your computer..If you get atleast to 100+ then buy a dedi or vps..

If your going to host it off your computer, you need a reallly good computer specs..

Because hosting it off you're computer will:
    a) increase your electric bills
    b) shorten your computers life span by turning it on 24/7
    c) personal applications on your computer will interfere with the game server (Steal 1/3 of the RAM,CPU, etc)

Depends on the source if it needs more or less ram.
