It's when developers completely quit the scene you'll see their name pop up, even though 3/4ths of ones mentioned haven't really done much else aside release repacks. So I'm quite glad you brought up Diamondo25.

(Not targeting anyone in particular, just stating my opinion.)

You just spoke my mind. Honestly, it's so stupid how bias this community is...

Diamondo25 is indeed a skilled developer, not to mention he's very humble. I'm glad to call him a friend of mine. (Y)

As for your statement about developers getting more popular when they quit is also true. It's like when an artist makes a bunch of artwork, but never gets it sold, but once the artist is dead, all of the sudden his/her artwork becomes masterpieces and he/she'll be highly respected.

God.. Bless.. you .. I honestly did not know how to put that into words but the moment I read that, I thought "YES THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WANTING TO SAY!", it makes me quite happy to see that there is, in fact, that "handful" of people still left on here that don't let e-fame get to their head, and can make noble and intelligent responses to such discussions.

I think if anyone here should be quoted for the remainder of this thread, it's the entire statement you made right there, I quoted in complete.. If only I was a big enough jerk to say what I really know about some of the people who were/are/will be praised for things .. not even their own. Unfortunately I didn't make a reputation based on being a d*ckhead, so I'll leave it at that, but this is the best thing I've read around here in a long long long time. I will say that.

This is the list of people that were legends and as Sublime said made a significant impact on the community. OdinMS people were of course, Legends. Everything followed. OdinTeh was definitely important after that. Only one developer there is notable for making an impact and that is Danny. The rest of them are the one I've listed above since they all contributed something great (except Cornbread).
I completely agree with you and I think you're right about the past impacts. Danny was by far, I'm sure not just for me alone, the biggest influence back-when this whole scene started taking a dip. I consider him to be the one (in my eyes) who brought back faith and motive in this field.

Although ... Generic, that's 1 thing I am split on and have my own opinion. I know very well what Jay was involved with and who he was involved with. I don't know if I personally would consider giving me a spot "up there". Let's just say someone much more literate then myself has stated, what I think about Jay.

Never had an issue with the kid, funny guy. But I personally would've put him up there.

I'm actually pretty surprised nobody has said Sparks.

Ah, nope, didn't notice he was in Sublime's list. Nevertheless, seconding that.

There's also Retep998 who's the only person who's made a real attempt at creating a third-party MapleStory client, as well as having the fastest Wz library to date, and designing his own format with angelsl, and breaking his own record in speed multiple times with that.

Also, Ian (SaintsIan/MrSaints) for being the most badass web dev in this entire community.

I honestly can't remember a guy who leeched someone's fame because he was with them... Soul/Jay/Sexy or whatever his new username is does not count, he's not famous at all and is a failure if anything.

Oh now I know who you're talking about. I'm talking about someone else, not Soul / Jay aha :P this is a different Jay aka Generic back in the day.

Quite frankly pal, I appreciate very much that you and @Sublime have both mentioned me, but I frankly would not have mentioned myself in here. I'm no legend and I certainly don't consider myself better then the next guy, nor have I been publically active. I know a lot of people would agree on that.

I'm not going to go into what I have and have not done, or who I've helped and what I've done for them. Those people who have gotten my help and I've worked with, will always know who they are and what I've done for them, including the underground work here and there and working behind the scenes, and those who think otherwise of me are welcome to think that. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion :) I gave up e-fame / reputation long ago when I started doing what I do behind the scenes.

Quite frankly for some reason I feel as if I've helped more not being recognized for any of my work then if I had been. And I've become content with the knowledge of that.

Danny, Snow, AngelSeL, Xterm = one of my biggest influences ... too bad Danny's hard work got slapped with someone else's name (you know who you are). I'm sure some of the seniors know who and what I'm talking about :)

Hm, there's a lot of good devs. People I look up to is probably Snow, AngelSeL and Generic.
People that I'm thankful I know are Bassoe, David, LaiLaiNoob, and Osiris for actually helping me with questions here and there.

    Re: Remembering the Legends

I owe Moogra, Osiris, Flav, Zygon, Maxcloud and Matt, the guy who did folderzcms, so much.
    They are legendary to me.

As for who I think the larger part of the community will mention; Moogra, Kevin, Ian and Sparks.

And Blue, you are still my random hero.

Yeah MiniAxel/Generic230/Jay. He leeched off of other's fame? I had no idea. He seemed like a good coder to me... I've been in Maple Dev since April 08, so I know who you all are talking about :P. And Sublime, PM me that list. I'm actually kind of curious now.

Ahahaha .. +1 for Blue lmfao, somehow the community seems more quieter without him around, but that doesn't go to show it's the best thing lmfaooooo at least we had someone to keep us irritated :P I would personally much rather have him back then that pre-pube dips Diogo.

I remember working with him on NLS.
I also remember working with Spudgy on NLS.
Oh, and I also worked with Diamondo on NLS.
And there's quite a few other people who I've worked with at one time or another.
Being in #vana REALLY helps you meet a lot of awesome people.

    Re: Remembering the Legends

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Serpendium, Matze or koolk. Without them, I'm almost certain the community wouldn't be what it is today (or at least what it was in 2010).

I haven't been following MapleStory since late 2010 after DMS died, so I don't really know the newer ones around.

But those are the real legends, IMO. And also those from Vana, including Bui, emmy, Astaelan, Cedric, retep998, Diamondo25, lordstyx, zinmirai, and others including Xterminator, LaiLaiNoob, Anujan and Sparks.
