[Tut]Cannot Connect to own Server Solution- Dynamic IP users

Many poeple that are using 1 computer to host their server and 1 to play their server were having a problem connecting. Here is a step by step guide to help fix the problem.

STEP #1

First you must follow Innovatives guide to Loopback Adapt: http://forum.ragezone.com/showthread.php?t=406129

STEP #2

After your done, and make sure you've done it properly, first you should try out your server to see if it works first. If you d/c when selecting your char, you should read on.

STEP #3

Okay, if you d/ced at your char, first find your No-ip.biz address that you had created from this guide: http://forum.ragezone.com/showthread.php?t=427740 If you haven't done so, and you know you have a Dynamic IP, please do so now.

NOTE: THIS IS FOR DYNAMIC IP USERS ONLY!

STEP #4

-Open Up My Computer

- Then Click (C:)

-Then click on the WINDOWS folder.

- Then click the drivers folder

- Then click on the ETC folder

STEP #5

-Right click on HOSTS and say OPEN, open the file with notepad or wordpad.

- Look for the line 127.0.0.1 localhost

STEP #6

- Using the no-ip.biz address aquired above, underneath 127.0.0.1 localhost, write <your no-ip.biz>(SPACE)<your LAN ip> which can be aquired by going to start>run>run>cmd>ipconfig/all>(write down the IP address)

- After that, save it, make sure you don't resave the file as another file, but a text document.

- Enjoy Your Server

well my server and website were running perfectly but i couldnt play my own server since same pc or get into website
i tried "Microsoft Loopback Adapter" and i can connect to my server but no1 else can... not even my website

i'll apreciate if u help me with that

I can see how it would work. But, then again, does the server use the HOSTS file? Or does the client ;).

Hey guys i have used this guide but is doesn't work for me.

The problem is:
I have 2 computers one for the server and one for my own things, when i followed this guide i cant connect to my dynamic ip, i only can connect to the ip from that computer and that is 192.168.1.8 but then i am getting, cant connect to gameserver.

Can i solve this problem?
