Alright so I am getting the most odd error I have ever seen. I have been running WoW servers for a few years now so I have a pretty good idea of what I am doing. After a fresh install of the server on a fresh install of windows (installing .Net of course) I am able to run Server2 but Server1 will crash after about 60 seconds of uptime. Any ideas?

Thank you very much. Had a wow server back in wowemu times, then had a mangos server around wow 2.1, now tried yours and it is quite nice. Have mine set up over internet. Only have server1 running, as 1 is all that is needed for the very few people who will be connecting.
The unworthy initiate doesn't seem to work as was mentioned before, but I could care less about bugs as long as the core is stable enough to play on for a bit. Ehh, I was planning on playing pally anyway lol.

This was my first shot at setting up an emulator server, and I just wanted to thank you for your hard work - the setup was quick and painless.
Just to make sure I've done everything right, though - I've noticed the Death Knight "Raise Dead" ability doesn't work, and the Mechano-hog doesn't have the correct speed bonus (and might not use the right mount animation, I can't tell for sure).
Those are just things that haven't been fully implemented yet, and aren't an error in my setup, correct?
Looks like things are not as bright an sunny as I thought. Things worked fine earlier this afternoon. Turn off the computer, go do some other things for a couple hours, come back to turn it all on again and the world server just won't work. Worked fine hours ago, but not now.
It doesn't update its entry into the log in the folder either. Going to eat now, will spend some more time investigating later.

I figured out why the world server wouldn't run when it would before. I edited the mangos.conf file in order to change xp rates and such, but once edited with notepad it is as if the file becomes corrupted and will not be recognized anymore.

Could not find configuration file mangosd.conf.
I kept a backup of the file, which when it replaces the bad one, the world server works fine. But if I make an edit in notepad it refuses to work from then on.
Is there an editor that won't cause these corruptions or whatever they are?
EDIT: Fix for this issue for those that may also have it
I went back and used Notepad++ to find where the error was. 617 was the message of the day. Looking at my edit I realized that the issue lied with the apostrophe I had within the quotes. You don't have to use notepad++, just don't have an apostrophe within those quotes and it will run fine.
your client needs to be 3.0.9 , if yours is and you get the message i suspect you havnt modified your realmlist.wtf and your client is pointing to the legit serversQuote:

Anyone have any information on changing the hearthstone's cooldown. I've found the item template entry, but the cooldown listed for spell1 there is -1. I've looked up the spell number listed in that entry, but in the spell area there isn't a spell with that value listed.
Is it possible to change it's cooldown. I spent 3 hours searching through the database last night and looking through search engines. It has been said a few times that they think it is hard coded, and not accessible through the db. Any thoughts?

Even though I had uninstalled MYSQL from the system it left behind a nasty little app called SQLBROWSER.EXE ... It wouldn't let the SQL start ... I deleted the SQLBROWSER.EXE manually and all is good. World 1 will not start but World 2 starts just fine.
I now have the latest and greatest Amber Realease but my WoW is not happy.
Everytime I start the WoW it tries to download a patch and when I cancel the patch download WoW closes as well. I made sure the realms list was set to 127.0.0.1 and deleted the patchlist from the WTF in the WoW directory. I even disconnected from the internet to see if that would help. So far I have gotten the same result every time I have tried to connect to the server. It starts downloading or trying to download the patch then closes the WoW when I cancel the download.
Any idea of a fix for this? I am eager to try out WOTLK (=

Great news!
I had to edit the Hosts file in Windows/system32/drivers/etc
Just changing the realmlist.wtf did no good towards stopping WoW from trying to update.
I now have a working WOTLK server!
I also had to add the data link for world1
I have partially tested the mangadmin addon on the WoW client and so far so good.
The teleports work but haven't gotten much further than that until this evening.

... ok I downloaded this yesterday set it up last night then i decided to make some custom vendors and stuffs at gm island then one of my mates came onto my server (over lan) and he asked to see what the jail looks like i sent him there and i spawned some mail box's and a sign poining to brill just to show him a few of the things a gm can do... thats all sweet and yeah but... i can seem to remove the mailbox's and the sign and they are in an inconveinient place for me is there some way to remove them... if so plz be detailed im new at this
also i made a few custom vendors at the gm island and i was wondering how to rename them cos i tried .npc rename but that didnt work theyre names stay the same and when i level them up they just delevel when i leave teh area is there some way to fix that?

I have a v6766 server running perfectly on the Lan. All that was required was to set the Address in the Amber GUI 0.3.5 to 192.168.1.103 to have the other computers on the home LAN logon and Play.
I have tried the same tactic with v7899 and I am only able to logon from the host computer. All other computers on thne LAN are unable to connect.
I did read the readme file and I need some clarification if it is possible.

If you want to host on a LAN make sure you change the realmlist table address (found in the realmd db) to point to your servers LAN ip instead of 127.0.0.1 and add this
<server-lan-ip> localhost
to your \windows\system32\drivers\etc\host file using notepad. e.g.
192.168.1.42 localhost
Using a client on the server use localhost everyone else on your lan would change the realmlist.wtf to
set realmlist <server-lan-ip>
e.g. set realmlist 192.168.1.42"

I have no need to connect on the server host, it is a standalone box just to run the server. The other computers on the LAN will connect to it.

ok i has a problems i can no longer get onto my own server but my friend can get onto it from his laptop via wireless networking 3 questions
1 is there a way to backup my whole server so i can reinstall my mangos and get the original settings back so i can play again

@snakey - only thing missing from how-to's on the web is your comprehension...git is like hitting a brickwall when your used to gui's n windows n mouseclicks. My advise is to keep trying to crack the nut till it gels as its suprisingly easy...
@Peanut1337 - Backup your character db's, reinstall and import the backups. Custom content in the mangos db's will be lost...if your not modifying content in these db's with sql then you should start as this is the best way to retain custom content, that way you can just reapply the sql's when the db is overwritten...

If not then pm me with your LOCAL IP address (run ipconfig from a command prompt) and I will send you a sql script to change your realmlist and a realmlist.wtf file to copy into your client directory (Location changed with 3.x.x to [World of Warcraft Directory]\Data\enGB if you can't find it).

I strongly advise you to install this update as soon as possible It contains a modification to the virtual drive system that safely allows ntfs folders to be mounted without the possibility of corruption when file attributes assigned to diskw are inherited by mounting the drive using the dos SUBST command. Obviously this means anybody still using the start n stop bat files will remain at risk of possible corruption of the virtual drives contents, on the other hand, Ive been using that method for 2+ yrs without anybody taking issue specifically with the function. Its a response to the rising incidents of the drive assignment not functioning coupled with my growing dislike for hidden cmd windows executing dos commands forcing me to revisit the code and find a better solution...

Im reconfiguring the code to have a lower impact on the target system starting with the removal of a timer triggered form checkstate routine (lazy way!) replaced with control triggered instead so pls report any bugs...

I spent about an hour going through my old 2.4.3 characters DB to get it into the right format for the Amber repack and client v3.0.9, there isn't much needed, but you may end up with a few dead data fields.
Seems to work ok so if you pm me then I will discuss it with you offline so Shiva can keep up the excellent work without too many distractions :)
Oh, if you feel like trying it yourself, remember that their user accounts are in the realm database and that you will need them as well - preferably with the same IDs so the characters get associated with the correct user.

I get the same issue on the Windows Server 2008 system I usually use, but not on either of my test boxes - both of which use different OS's (Sad, I know).
Rather than post the same messages here that we have already seen, can ALL of the people with this issue please pm me with which OS they are using (Exactly, including which variant such as XP pro, XP Home, Vista Basic, Vista Ultimate etc and which service pack level you are using) if in doubt, run the command 'winver' and it will tell you.
I am going to see if I can get a breakdown of which ones work and which don't so we don't fill up this forum. I will post when we have a better idea of where the problem is.

Hi, Everyone,
Recently I have updated to WoW Client 3.0.9 (rev9551) and install Server Mangos V7748 and facing those following problem:
1. client side: everytime I log in to the game it shows up "Patch Require" and ask me to restart, and when I press Restart button it will quit the game and pop up a WoW Patching windows which download and patch to client 3.1.0. After patch to 3.1.0 it continue again and only stop at client 3.1.3> I have check the Realm.wtf file and set the realmlist to 127.0.0.1 but problem not so. please see the pic

2. Server side:
When I try to Start the World 1 and World 2 its show the following error respectively

Note I have not got this problem before when I ran client 2.4.3 and Server V6766.

Also There is a folder SQL in there with "Updates", am I supposed to update these on my DB? or did the Amber program did it allready?

EDIT 1: So I installed the lowes full version then Updated all the way to 78*** and still not luck on update 7928, I had a few Errors on the follow updates:
7689-7748
7748-7899
7899-7928
OK everybody take a chill pill...
...thats better. Right down to business if vmaps havn't been copied to server2 or the conf file isn't pointing to ../../Data/server2/WOTLK in server2 folder then you get the vmap error, conf in root of release should be ../Data/server2/WOTLK so check whats not configured correctly.
A manual install of the update is possible...
- Backup AmberGUI
- Install update and let it bomb
- Replace AmberGUI with your backup
- Start the GUI
- Copy the sql files in the updates folder to the respective backup folders for v7928
- Start the miniserver
- Use db import in the GUI to add the updates to the respective db's
- Start your realm & mangosd servers
...should do the trick! Im scratching my head as to why this works for some and not others.
BTW latest code was tested on XP x64 SP2 & Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 and worked perfectly...
Oh and the key to sucess running thru a series of updates is to delete ambergui & its ini file before you start...
I fixed my problem by reinstalling wow and then reinstalling mangos i think my wow file maps were corrupted ;/ but now its fixed :)

1) My miniManager is not working, giving this error:
Table \'mangos.uptime\' doesn\'t exist
2) How can I change a quest to "Auto complete" so my bug quests can be Return right after Accepting the quest?
