    2nd part of guide...

Now we are going to connect to MSSQL...
Click Start>>All programs>>Microsoft SQL Server 2005>>SQL Server Management Studio Express...
Then you should see something like this:

Now you have to remember the server name...
We're going to use that later...
Now login using the "sa" username and the password you input on the installation...

    Now... If you're already connected....
    You should see this...

    If you see this...
    Well Successful...
    If not...
Remember the password you input before...
Now right click database and click attach...
Once done you should have something like this...

    Click add...
Once you have clicked add button...
You should have something like this...

    Now attach the databases...
    Rangame1P_data.mdf
    RanLog_Data.mdf
    RanUser_Data.mdf
    Don't attach RanShop...
    I'll explain later why not...
Now after you attached those 3 databases...
You should have something like this...

    Then click ok...
    After clicking ok...
Right click database again and click New Database...
It should look something like this...

Now you should have something like this...

Now name the database as "RanShop"
Now you should have by now the database RanShop...
    Now right click RanShop database...
    And click Tasks>>Restore>>Database...
    Like This...

Now download the backup file from this site...
    http://files.filefront.com/RanShopra.../fileinfo.html
    Taken from CiMeD...
    Credits to CiMeD...
    After you download that file...
Extract it to any location you like...
    After extracting it...
    Let's get back to MSSQL...
Now you should have something like this if you followed the earlier step...

    Choose "From Device"...
Then click the button on the right with the 3 dots...
Now if you click the button with 3 dots...
You should have something like this...

    Then click add...
Then you should have something like this...

Now browse for the RanShop Backup I told you to download earlier...
Now after you locate the backup file...
    Click ok...
Then you should have something like this...

    Then click Options...
    Below General...
On the left panel of the window...
And chosse "Overwrite the existing database" and click ok...
Now we are finish setting up the MSSQL...
    Setting ODBC is next...

Uh...what's wrong with using the original RanShop.mdf that came with the first 3 databses? Why the need for this special one?

i can't connect to the "SQL Server" - that's my server name. do i need to have an internet connection to be able to connect using SQL Server Management Studio Express?

  7. #7
    I used CiMeD's RanShop...
For you guyz not to edit it when you're going to put webserver...
It's more likely a preparation for it...
    ^_^
Cause if your going to put up a webserver...
You're going to insert a lot of items in old database...
    But using CiMeD's backup...
No need to input all the items in RAN Shop...
    ^_^

LOL... I did read the guide.
But that's NOT the reason for my post . Perhaps you should READ my question carefully yourself. :D

Anyway... austhistikated answered my inquiry to my satisfaction. That's the reply I was expecting. ;)

bro can u help me with this problem
i followed your guide but i have this problem on my sql database

my attachments seems to be read only... like this RanGame1 (Read Only)
as well as the other database attachments
i cannot edit any of it on the database tables coz it's read only..
    i used personified server-repack

i also tried the data from original sodou.com download..
but it cannot be attached coz it says that "the db is read only or some files are read only"
what should i do with this?

    thanks in advance....

  11. #11
    Hmm...
I also used personified's repacked files...

    @ Topic Starter

bro didn't you installed sql 2000+analysis then sp 4 then sql 2005
before you attached your database? just curious.. coz i think that is
the way to fix the "read only" thing if you installed sql 2005 + SSMSE alone

  17. #17
I installed MSSQL 2000 EVAL first...
    Then MSSQL 2000 sp4...
    Then MSSQL 2005...
    Then SSMSE...
    ^_^

i suggest you include that on your guide that you have installed sql 2000 and sp4 first
before sql 2005 express... coz readers might have problems on the "read only" thing...
as for me i only installed msql 2000 then used the data files from sodou and the
ranshop.bak from the other threads here :D my server is working smoothly and i havent
found bugs yet except for the last 2 skills of each character.. i guess it will work on
EP2 as i am already working on it :D

Use the MSSQL 2000 to restore/Attach ur database...

  20. #20
    @trixxx12
You can also use MSSQL 2005 EXPRESS & SSMSE w/o MSSQL 2000...
I already tried it and have'nt encounter the problem with read-only thingies...
I only encounter problem in webserver...
    That's why I installed MMSQL 2000...
    Anyway...
    That's what I thought that's why I have'nt include MSSQL2000 as a part of your installation...
    Am sorry...
    My bad...
    ^_^

just install the the SQL driver...and I suggest to use mssql2000 much more easy..

  23. #23
    @jiacheng1991

    I haven't installed remote desktop...
But it's running fine for me...
Remote desktop I think is only for GM's...
To have access to server even they are afar from it...
