Watch those for a general idea
note: as noted before, you do NOT have to install ia32-libs yourself, the package will do that for you (IE: do NOT follow the videos to the "T", use them as a REFERENCE ONLY)
Negative, it specifically checks for 12.04.3... This is due to the fact that this package has ZERO external dependencies (that is, it has ia32-libs *included* and installs them for you - and they are *specific* to 12.04.3)... So, you could install this with absolutely NO internet at all, and have a completely working server from a blank HDD! That's why I built it that way!
Technically you can, but that's only if you *really* know what you're doing (including how to bypass the built in check)... And as such, I cannot "support" this {read: it's only for advanced users}
Client cannot be 'extracted', it has to use the installer - if it's not working right A) check the checksums to make sure you got a good DL B) try 'compatibility mode' for Win7!
I keep getting Segmentation Fault when I try to install Ubuntu 12.04.3, followed the vid you posted on the first page of this thread and again above. Tried initially with VMware player 15 as you'd said there was issues with 16, I get literally only as far as the first screen where you pick English > Install Ubuntu Server > and then boom. Read a lot of posts saying this is issue with "newer kernels" (which surely that old Ubuntu version isn't?) and VMware 15, and fixed in 16. So tried 16. Also tried 14. All exactly same result. Any suggestions please?

This is a known issue, yes Ubuntu 12.04.3 itself will NOT work with vmware 16... Also, it will NOT work with any lower version either - ONCE you've installed 16... The only thing I can deduce is that 16 installed something that is not (or cannot be) removed during an uninstall... Because we've tried completely removing 16, installing 15, and it still doesn't work at that point...
I have yet to attempt to find out why/what must be removed (additionally/manually) in order to successfully downgrade from 16 to 15! But I know it works on 15 for sure because I use 15.5.6 and have *never* upgraded to 16 (I actually can't because I refuse to use Win10)...
So, options (so far) are as follows:
A) (figure out how to successfully) downgrade 16 to 15
B) use vbox instead
C) use on a physical machine (instead of any VM)
D) perform a system wipe/restore and only install VMWare 15 (NOT 16)!
I myself cannot "look into" downgrading 16 to 15 since I do not have Win10... So if anybody out there wants to "look into" how to actually (and successfully) downgrade VMWare 16 => 15 ; please, let me know! Best idea to do so would be to do a "clean" installation while running PROCMON (process monitor), and save the log file - then you'll see EVERY little action it takes while installing. Which could point us to whatever has to be manually removed or "downgraded"!
Thanks very much for replying. Funny thing is, I did install 15 first because had read your comments on that. I only installed 16 AFTER I got the segmentation fault and was trying to find solutions to it. I may give vbox a go but was already considering setting up a physical machine for it so might go that route too. Many thanks.

you should download new one or else check the checksum if it you donwload properly because i last time i follow the tip o sir 343 they told check checksum if its different with log of owner meaning your file are corrupted and you cant install properly

Oh wow! I figured it was something 16 installs that caused 15 to not work for somebody I tried troubleshooting it on!
Maybe it's also a Win10 thing! Maybe something Win10 is preventing it from working on any VMware (not just 16x)... ... ...
Interesting (and just one MORE reason I will NEVER "downgrade" to Win10)!
I do personally prefer VMWare for VMs, but I did see it work on vbox on a Win10 host, when VMWare wouldn't...
A physical machine / HDD (or SSD) is always preferred - especially if it's a server that's actually going to be 'used'! VM's are good for 'testing' or 'building' ; but for any actual use I'd certainly recommend a physical machine/HDD/SSD!
This is true, there are tons and tons of things you can "do", if you're an "advanced user" So while not directly, "supported", feel free to discuss this among yourselves :
you should download new one or else check the checksum if it you donwload properly because i last time i follow the tip o sir 343 they told check checksum if its different with log of owner meaning your file are corrupted and you cant install properly
i Think sir is not about Vmware because im using latest vmware it is because of file
That is really different because everyone that I've seen attempt to install Ubuntu 12.04.3 in VMWare 16 (and now maybe 15 too according to some posts above - so maybe a Win10 thing) they get the segmentation fault error, even if they got a good download and the checksum matches...
Are you sure you didn't install to VBOX not VMWare? Because I know Ubuntu12.04.3 works on a Win10 host in VBox...

So I tried with Oracle Virtualbox and got it all working (on Win 10), never ran any segmentation fault errors. I did have general problems with your ISOs - Virtualbox won't mount them, Windows won't mount them, checksums checked out though. In fact the only thing that would open them was 7z (which gives warning "There are some data after the end of the payload data") so extracted the files out with that and then rebuilt a new ISO with ImgBurn, fed that into Virtualbox and then all was good.
One either minor hiccup (just in case this helps anyone) is when I'm booting the VM up, I was kinda expecting as soon as it gave login prompt, that the daemon service would already be running and I could fire up PW client and log in, but I'd sometimes get weird errors like it'd show me my chars to pick from but then give an error trying to actually log in. Chased this around for a bit and in the end realised it was nothing - it just takes time for the server to come up and be truly ready and I was trying too fast heh
Going to test out 1.3.1 vs 1.3.6 as 1.3.6 seems to have weird tideborn-related stuff which is half there, like can craft weapons but they are wrong types (claw not dagger) and you get a quest saying go to Raging Tides and will open up the teleport waypoint, but nothing happens.
What I'm really curious tho is about events like Dragon Temple. In every server (both official PWI when it ran and priv servers) its always Tues 8pm server time. Are events like that enabled in these builds? Can you edit the times/frequency? I see those GM commands for initiating events like snowmen but DT, tigers, CoA not listed on there. Thanks!
Just a bunch of stuff is updated primarily, and I added some of the SRC for some of Lukas tools that was available from github... Nothing too 'monumental' but I figured I may as well take care of it since I had forgotten to up until that moment. Especially with the possibility this may be the last update (ever), best to have all my T's dotted, and all my I's crossed !!!

That does actually make sense about the ISO, it's a custom ISO that I created in PowerISO (and then I touched them all to coordinate their timestamps)... So, some software may "yell" that they're "not valid"... I do know PowerISO and VMWare still can use them without problem. I am sorry to hear VBox didn't extend that same courtesy =\
Yes, you have to wait a bit before you can actually fully log in / play; it's not instant - no matter how beefy your machine...
v136 does have a LOT of "stuff", that was pretty much when I was in my PWp infancy and others around here and myself were pretty much trying to make 136 as close to "new" as possible (which at the time was Raging Tides / Genesis...! So, while I did do my best to try to still stay close to "retail"/"official"; there are TONS of things that have nothing to do with any actual v136... It's like 136 on steroids to try to be more like 141/142/144... Just without genies or auto-path... Or 79/100 skills IIRC... And still probably my favorite version despite not being "stock"; because that's where/when I learned the most, and that's also when the game was kind of at it's peak IMHO without crap like genies and auto-pathing (not to mention the additional races/classes)!
I never did do much with the "built in" events; but I'd imagine they should be there, at least whatever was actually "around" during that version (in its infancy)... If not, you can possibly tweak it yourself : One of the first places you should look for events (like assault on Arch for ex.) is NPCGEN.DATA; pay attn to the "triggers" list, as "triggers" are how many "events" internally functioned... That and possibly AIpolicy... ... ...
Yep, I just downloaded VBox, and it sure as poop does seem to have a problem with my ISO's! Why I'm not entirely sure seeing as literally EVERY other program I have that handles ISO's does not seem to have a problem with them!
While your method produced results, it does seem a bit convoluted - to have to 'rebuild' them!
Next time, rather than rebuilding them (and the tedious process it entails) - just use (just about?) anything that mounts ISO's as "virtual discs", such as "

", or "

" - mount them as a "live disc" on your host OS; then tell VBOX to "use" those (as if they were physical drives on your host PC)! Or of course my favorite -

Much less tedious than having to "rebuild" them! But yes, VBox apparently has a bug up it's butt with my ISOs (leaves no wonder as to why I've always liked VMWare better [VMWare also has no issues with my ISOs]) !!!
I'm gonna have to disagree! I think it's more of a Win10 thing... As noted above dude couldn't get it working even on 15, but the host OS was Win10... So, explain then why would it work on 15 with Win7 as a host but not VMW15 with Win10 as a host...
Hint: not because VMWare sucks, but, because Windows 10 *SUCKS*
add:
but VMWare 16 does suck, since it requires Win10
Oh well, :
Will still be able to use it on a Linux host :
So there's the TRUE solution
Get Linux (it's a REAL OS, not that Win10 GARBAGE), then, if you "NEED" windows for any reason - run IT in a VM !!!!!!!
</offtop>
But anywho; the real problems/solutions are that apparently Win10/VMWare don't seem to like Ubuntu 12.04.3, so a solution for that is to use VBox...
Vbox doesn't seem to like my ISOs - so easiest solution for that is to mount ISO using something like PowerISO, Daemon Tools Lite, or Virtual Clone Drive, THEN "mount" in VBox!
Optimal setup (besides running the server on it's own physical machine/hdd) is of course running on a Win7 host with VMWare 15.x...
But, if you "HAVE" to run on Win10, you're likely going to wind up using VBox, and something like
You must be registered to see links
or

(or

) in unison with VBox...
Unless, or until someone comes up with a Win10/VMware "solution"... I would love to, but I don't have Win10... So anyone that wants to, feel free!
Instructionserfect World Private - ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤This is a complete package of the game "Perfect World" for PCThe server from this package runs on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS x64The client runs on WinXP+ operating systemsThere is also a 'tools' disc included (pw_dev.iso) so that one can modify the server/client to their likingThe server has been made a simple and straightforward installation. All you have to do to install the server is mount/burn the ISO and run the corresponding installation for it. "./install-pw" will install v136, "./install-131" will install v131, "./install-146" will install v146, and "./install-fw" will install fw(v0517). v136 is the "base" package and REQUIRED to install any of the "addons" which include v131, v146, and fw(v0517). All can be installed at the same time but they cannot be ran simultaneously (only one can be ran at a time). There is a service included to switch between the active installed versions called pwversion (merely type "service pwversion" in the Linux terminal to switch between active versions). These can also be installed as a system service/daemon (if you have a worthy system [with enough RAM]) so that there is NO human interaction required to boot up the server besides pressing the power button (or starting up the virtual machine). Note: If you don't have a good enough system or just don't desire to run as a system service/daemon you can simply navigate a web browser to your server @

to start one game map at a time. The servers HTTPD, MySQL, Tomcat, etc, are all started automatically no matter what (for this reason). If your servers IP changes (for any reason), use "./ipset.sh" located in /root/ to change the IP configurations that were set during the installation. The client doesn't really need 'instructions' whatsoever, just mount/burn the ISO and install, then it's ready to launch/play. You only need to set the IP of the server to connect to in serverlist.txt (server.lua for FW). For more advanced users there is an auto patcher (CPW) with this package and the two files: updateserver.txt and mainuni.xml also need the IP of the server set in them for the patcher to work. There is an entire WEALTH of knowledge about this package in a file called "adminnotes.txt" that can actually be found in two locations. Hello 343 I want to make server to play with some old friends, with which we played together maybe 10 years ago, so just what to ask you which sable and fixed server (if he have custom quests and/or items will be better) will advice me to install so i can play with them? I have got few russian servers, but is too much work for me to translate it and I am not sure which files to translate, so that is what I am asking you for advice. Thanks in advance!
