Both clients are the same,,, sorta... The main client release is the 'standard' client. Fully prepared (minus serverlist.txt) to use to play with. The "un-packed" client is just that (as well), it is fully un-packed (not 'un-compressed') this is primarily for use with CPW (or for any 'developer' interested in using for 'devving') ~ being fully un-packed (then compressed into a 7z).

The 'main' download is NOT compressed at all (PCK don't count).
The 'un-packed' download IS compressed using 7z (to preserve Chinese file names).

So for example, if you downloaded the 'main client download' and wanted to use it with CPW you would manually have to un-pack it whereas you would not have to do so with the un-packed client...

In another example, if you downloaded the 'un-packed client download' and wanted to use it to 'play' the game, you would have to manually pack ALL the PCK's... (at least when I tested trying to play with ALL PCK's un-packed it will NOT let you play that way :\ a little confusing when I know you can play with some of the PCK's un-packed :\)...

So as you can see, depending on exactly what you're looking to do (or not do) each download could be advantageous in their own respective ways...

Sorry I do not personally use VBOX so I wouldn't be able to personally help in that department... If the hash/checksums match up though (good DL) it should work just fine. You can try to open/access it through other utils such as PowerISO. PowerISO happens to be the util I used to create these ISO's... You could try daemon tools, magic-iso, vmware, whatever you desire ofc... At least this will narrow it down to whether you're 'issue' is with vbox or the ISO itself...

On an awesome note my friends and i invaded dragon temple and did every quest and every chest we dug and killed every mob and it all worked excellent.
Finally i have a noob question on cpw.. after ive done my initial build and first revision, can i continue to just do revisions? or should i treat the last revision as the 2nd initial build and the new release then as the revision in this order?

Thank you for explaining the difference between the two client downloads. Still having problems with mounting these .iso, I'm going to try one last thing..then I will consider switching to VMWare

I had the same difficulty mounting the iso, but i used a linux program to mount the iso..when i get home from work in 9hrs ile post its name...it was the only way i could mount so hang in there and ile post its name soon. I guess every system is different as my laptop mounted easily using the posted procedure but my main server required a little bit extra tweaking

Its weird, I tried the older .iso of this release (from August) and it worked perfectly..did you change program or smth?

Gmount may work..i know i tried a few, installed through synaptic package manager

I just 7zipped the .iso and then put the files into an ISO creator..worked fine, maybe its just the program 343 uses doesn't agree with Vbox.

Finally got 343's latest PW Package :D Will test it tomorrow morning..thanks 343 :)

Glad to hear you were able to get your map service issue resolved... If you're still having difficulty with the game DB you may want to consider just deleting it, and starting blank (any characters, inventories etc... WILL be LOST!) Followed instructions on a different post here in ragezone and remained in chapel for 15 minutes and then exit chapel and re-logged and marriage stayed.
A thousand apologies 343 i didnt realise had to stay in chapel for 15 mins and when did this all is good.
So please forgive my earlier incorrect statement of marriage problems...but still the cube problems are real.
Looking at sTASKedit program to at least give things a go...lots of reading, keep up the good work 343 your release is much appreciated.

Thanks 343 for this excellent post! I have a couple questions about it, because honestly, I didn't want to read through 100 pages to find the answer, and search isn't quite capable of answering my most simple question.

The most simple being: Is this the most current PW server release?

The other question was answered in your post, which I've just re-read, so I don't have to ask it :) So I guess only that one question.

Wish everyone would realize there is really only one release available. The only real difference is what has been added to it to update what is available in it. There are newer tasks files, newer elements, newer aipolicy, and more shoved into different pcks for more content.

The only other files are the "unmentionable ones" that aren't really available. All that being said, this is the most complete, true to PWI server/client release available. And as far as not feeling like reading 100 pages.....never mind I will leave that alone.

Hello. Someone can confirm. ChrohoWorld working fine in last release????? Because right now NPC spawned in fly if players join to ChronoWorld and disconnect, they cant back in game, stuck on server connect and many more bugs here...

No, I have not experienced any of the problems you describe...

Neither have I, Chrono works great for me.
