maybe but that would mean i would have to chmod all the scripts which i shouldnt have to do if im logged into root ive never had this problem ive done 343's installation twice before one time my system crashed and i lost everything second time real life stuff got in the way so i deleted everything (dont ask why) and now im trying to do it again and im running into so many errors its not longer tolerable if i could get past permission denied i would be happy so i guess i should chmod u+x setup.sh then? i guess i can try that and see what happens
EDIT: okay so i typed cd /root/notes
chmod u+x ./setup.sh
./setup.sh and its running setup so i guess that means im going to have to chmod ./start.sh as well?
ANOTHER EDIT: alright so i had to chmod u+x mysql apache tomcat and tomcat2 ./start.sh my sql started fine apache started fine tomcat and tomcat 2 came back with ./.tomcat (and ./.tomcat2)start.sh: line 5: ./startup.sh: permission denied so obviously im thinking i have to chmod u+x them as well but im not sure of file directory anyone know ?
NUMBER 3: okay so now i chmodded them and now when i run start they cant find catalina.sh what now?
Can't find means it's not there xD. Verify the path where your script is calling the script.
You can verify the flags by typing ls -al inside the directory where the scripts are:
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 170 2011-08-16 16:18 .tomcat2_start.sh
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 171 2011-08-16 16:18 .tomcat2_stop.sh
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 168 2011-08-16 16:18 .tomcat_start.sh
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 169 2011-08-16 16:18 .tomcat_stop.sh
See the x (executable) flag there?
im just reinstalling to try this again also when i was in winscp the files looked like r-xr--r-- or something like that
EDIT: still getting permission denied idk anymore ive followed the guide step by step and i get the same error every time idk could it be because back when i had vbox it wasn't supporting server_root.iso (wouldnt let me mount it) so i unpacked it then put it back into another iso i made myself? should i redownload his server root iso and delete everything and start from square one with fresh server files download or what?
My server test run perfectly in Vbox without any issue
well i posted the error here a few pages back before i think but idk wtf i did differently but its all fine now O_o everything is good only thing i have a problem with now is http://XXX.XXX.X.XX/pwAdmin wont connect but i probably messed up my port forwarding gonna call my ISP tomorrow and what not but thank you guys for all your help could NOT have done this without and thanks 343 for this amazing release just got some problems i have to work out on my side
EDIT:thats the error i got trying to mount server_root.iso in vbox you asked about fluxboxQuote:
server_root.iso wont mount in my vbox (im useing 4.1.8 only one i could find) and i get could not get storage format of the medium (directory to my server root file) (VERR_NOT SUPPORTED) then i hit details and get "Failed to open the CD/DVD image C:\Users\Cory\Desktop\Server Stuff\server_root.iso.
Could not get the storage format of the medium 'C:\Users\Cory\Desktop\Server Stuff\server_root.iso' (VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED).
Result Code: VBOX_E_IPRT_ERROR (0x80BB0005)

I have no experience with VBOXs or VMWAREs. Did you try mounting it inside the box (copy the iso inside the virtualized environment) and mount locally?
