For the IP you want which ever one is on the same network as you router if you are using bridged mode.
So if your router is 192.168.0.1 then you want 192.168.0.x

Edit: I see. In the video it goes right to the admin page. Well mine does not do that, this is why I have been typing it in. I have everything running, or so it seems. MySQL, tomcat and all that.
Ok i got the server up and running on my computer. Everything is working great. i can access the pw admin webpage and log into game. BUT, other computers/people cannot. I checked the other computers server lists info etc etc and it is EXACTLY the same as the ones on my "server computer".
Any idea on how to fix this?
Why are you trying to use nano for that though. You only need to edit hosts, config.php, and .userconfig.jsp.
Typing your serverip/admin in nano is going to do nothing.
You type your serverip/admin in a web browser as it is a web address.
http://192.168.1.100/admin
Replace 192.168.1.100 with your servers IP and bingo.
So open Firefox, IE, Opera or whatever browser you use on your main machine and in the address bar type
192.168.X.X/admin
Replacing X's with your IP

Use nat or bridged mode on the vm and port forward the ports using your router.

I have figured out the underlying problem behind this whole thing. I did a search on eth0, the only thing I could remember from that post(also by drakaer) because I read something about that yesterday but didn't think much of it til now.
I used the ip I got from the eth0 column through ifconfig, and now everything works just fine and I got to the admin page. ^_^

What 343 is saying is that you have to use HIS SERVER AND CLIENT for this tutorial. If you use his server and someone elses client, the server files and client files will be different from eachother. That is when your game starts to mess up. Make a new post as 343 said in the perfect world forum asking for help.Quote:

thats the thing after i did that i rebooted the server, rebooted the vm, and tried it on another computer and it didnt work. so maybe it has to do with remote host. i will look into it. thanks.
Well no, bear in mind those settings are only WAN => LAN 'settings/rules' if your server is no longer working entirely on your LAN, then that would be a totally separate issue...
I have the server set up on my desktop via VMWare Player. I can still start and log in to server on that computer. I CANNOT log into server on my laptop or another laptop. And I just tried removing the remote host and resetting my router and still no luck. I don't know what else to do or try.

The simple way to find out if it IS messing with being able to connect locally/LAN (even though I don't think it should be) would be to delete / remove all those settings. If it does start working again then you know, if not then you know it is something else =\

Ok so I changed the VM settings to bridges instead and replicate. Changed teh server ip files to teh new server IP since the IP changed for the server and everything works good. I was able to connect to all PCs in my home on my network.
I then tried to get a friend in another state to connect and she can't. I then went back to the virtual server set up and re-did the port forwarding for the 29000, 8080, and 80 ports for the new ip, and still cant connect.
Anyone have any ideas?
Can you leave that 'remote host' section blank ?
it could be that your ports are not open, i also had this problem awhile back try checking the ports with this tool Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router , also you may want to try this http://forum.ragezone.com/f452/tutor...ctures-653514/ if you don't want to give out your ip, lastly if your router has both the virtual server and port triggering option you may want to have the same entries in both places ie. opening 29000 and 80 on both settings, it's what i did.Quote:

If you have it working on your LAN (from all your LAN machines) as you've said then that is your only problem (it not being 'open' to the WAN)... I researched your router per the model number that you gave me. I was correct you want to leave the remote host field BLANK to have the corresponding port open to the WAN. If you put an IP in the 'remote host' field, that will ONLY allow connections from that IP (on the WAN side [which it's impossible to have an incoming WAN IP that would match any IP out of your LAN IP 'pool' anyways])

Yea, most ISP CSR's are idiots... If I recall correctly that was only an ADSL modem. You could A) look into new service from a new provider as you mentioned. I tried that route as well to no luck on my end and I had the Century Link Tech on site and they too were unable to port forwad the unit to allow remote access to the SBS box that I have on site. ( I was told that it is a bear because the DDR2200 sets a virtual bridge between data and IPTV stream)
Even if it did work it drops the DSL speed to 10megs because of the overhead needed for IPTV and I like the 25megs I have now

To reduce the .pck size, you can "zero out" files that aren't needed. That means make the unneeded files size zero, and then patch them in your next patch. If you do a lot of files that way you can decrease the pck size by quite a bit.

I'm stumped.
Every now and then I have to change all my IPs because VM changes it's eth0 IP. Well today, it changed again. Now I can't connect to the server. And *all* of the files that need IP changes have been changed. And the server was restarted.
While I'm not sure this is the cause because I'm using this server for myself only, but port 80 and 29000 have been closed it seems. I'm gonna try opening them and see if that helps..

I already got running the start.sh files after giving them the right permissions, but still i get this error message:

The server is running on a virtual machine not at my home, so i need web access. I can access the "Create a character" page, but when i try to open the admin panel he asks for a login and then i get an error.
Firefox can not connect to the server.
But this problem only exists if the IP has port with it.
Theres no problem to connect to the apache server but when i want to connect to IP:8080 or IP:8443 e.g. i get this error.
Would be glad if someone could help me :)
You need to go through all the server files and chmod all the .sh files to 777 including the ones within the apache tomcat directoryQuote:

To get 79 skills go to C:/windows/ (I'm guessing you're using windows, go fucking figure) and delete the folder titled "system32". Once you do that, the fix will magically appear on your screen!

Well, everyone got sarcasm when they started. It's a very effective way to get people to learn and listen. If he would have searched, he could have found the answer within 2 minutes tops.
