(Sorry zorno but) DO NOT listen to ZORNO ~~ IT IS NOT OKAY TO USE GUI for a server, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE! You will ONLY be asking for more problems than it will be worth. (Drakaer is right on that one)
Also Drakaer hit the nail right on the head, I personally prefer VMware and could sit here and tell you why and how it's better than VBOX until you were blue in the face. Although as friendly as my release is it can be used on or in any kind of set up that you desire. You can set this up on a physical machine, or in a VM using VMware, or yes, even vbox :): :thumbup:

Hey guys,
I got the server running at last; used VBox with Ubuntu etc etc etc... everything works, server is working, i can open pwadmin and start the worlds.
Now trouble kicks in: Whatever i do, i cant get the client to work. When i want to run elementalclient.exe it tells me zlibwapi.dll isnt working on windows. If i exchange them with the same file from an original PWI client, it tells me the same for almost all the other .dll's. I tried like all the different combinations, to no futher avail :( and yes, i did edit the IP in the serverlist and im not using a patcher :)
edit: running windows vista (64-bit)

All PW servers are Linux (I swear I've said this same exact thing before too), however, you can run a test/build server in a VM (windows as your host OS). I would NOT recommend running a 'production' server in a VM though.Quote:

Biggest thing to have spawned this update is, fixing OHT map quests and spiritual ciltivation quest-line. Previously (last release) OHT was still 'broke' so I added a custom 'cheater' quest to just finish off culti @ lv101 and finishing 'wraiths ploy' unlocked all OHT maps. Now that OHT has been 'fixed' I am replacing these 'custom quests' so that you will have to unlock all OHT maps separately (like on official) and so that culti will be feasible as well.Quote:

Oh yea, and the length of usernames/passwords is being updated since we just recently tested that out. Usernames will now be 4~20 characters and Passwords will now be 6~20 characters (for main register, change password, pwAdmin, and pwAdmin plugin/force PW change).

You would be safe to actually grab it in its current form. I have actually already updated, albeit silently (for a few reasons). Number one everyone is so gaga over the 'new version' I wanted to see if anyone would even notice I have updated (note: the links are no longer megaupload {hence them not existing any more} but 4shared). The other reason is I am quite a perfectionist, and even though I 'pushed out' the release as projected on 4/March/2012 I've already caught myself finding little things I have wanted to change and have re-uploaded a handful of times already (with minor changes)...Quote:

Hope everyone likes the newest 'update' to this release. As I've already stated, it includes a custom nirvana made by myself (added as a26b). As many of you may know I do not keep 'notes' on 'changes' ("changelogs") but a few other things I know that have been resolved or added in this update/release is a12b. I kept the original jungle/forest ruins in place but I added the new version of a12 as a12b ; as another empty map (empty and ready for customization) like Z9 and Q20... I fixed the OHT and spiritual cultivation quest lines so that you have to actually do all quests to unlock each OHT map separately (like on official) [for those who don't know dating back to having 'problems' with OHT I made it so that once you unlocked OHT you automatically 'got' all OHT maps, and for culti I made a cheater quest that just 'finished off' your culti for you {since OHT was 'broken'}], that has now been fixed too so that you actually have to (and can) fully complete the spiritual cultivation quest line (which can be followed here) Another thing was maximizing the number of characters that can be utilized when creating or modifying an account. Login names are now limited to 4-20 characters, Passwords are now limited to 6-20 characters! Skill menu has received an extension (both interfaces if I recall correctly), and thinking of which, the genesis interface has been merged with the client and is no longer a separate download! Those are the primary highlights that stick out in my memory, I'm sure I have done more than that as well :wink::thumbup1:

As for those of you who cant get the mounting to work, mind you i have never ran on a linux or any kind of linux before. As it took me like, 12 hours to figure out the command to mount the iso. I used no tutorials. Never ran linux, i just messed with it for a long time, and finally got it. Dont give up, its actually easy.

in the data folder add elements.data , gshop.data or what you want to update
then archive the element folder with the name ec_patch0-1.xup

then open the versions.sw from update folder and add there 1=ec_patch0-1.xup
then save and update make sure that ur patcher is set at 0 or make the patch with the name 2=ec_patch1-2.xup
