send me a private message of your username and what you would like to include yourself in. again this server is more for development. if you would like to have a GM role in this server please have something to offer... wether its commitment to 343's release (nothing to do with me i just run the server for 343) or testing from lvl 1 on all quests or DQ or god knows what please give me the following of your role. and i will determine the action then

BENEFIT OF THE ROLE: those who help on these selected areas will gain a spot for permanent GM position on my server when i make my final release.... THIS IS in most respect towards 343 those who want to help make this a one of a kind, good on you. lets make this the best possible build out there.

i cannot pm until i have 15 posts :S
your either leader or nothing. this is what i determined. then again whats it matter what you are to a server.... only ppl i can think of are..... ones that take BS pride for a server they did not make, or there looking for a profitable server were they make money.... OR SLIM CHANCE very few would like to develope things like skins or actually make a change.. if your looking to join a server you need something to offer ALOT are like that, so if you want in on something you need something to offer and generally its to the comminity.
for example im running test servers for 343 for his fantastic release.
other then that i would just be another leach. if that makes sence
---------- Post added at 01:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:27 AM ----------
ive had about 13 leachers just to be GM on my testing server each one was removed for saying shit and just causing problems
Umm, give me the server list, ill add it to this client then, ill have a look, meet me ingame and then we can speak more ;)
server is server.burnsfast.com you can register there and play in game dont forget to put 29000:server.burnsfast.com to your server list
@DeathRobert -- Sounds like you have a bad download to me. Verify your hash values on the DL to make sure it's a good DL... (all of the files)
Also, if you're not using exactly what I'm using I cannot guarantee anything will work at all. We all know that things 'should' work one way or another, but as I've already read this may not be the case (daemon tools causing issues)... So...
-Verify hash values to verify the fact that you have a good DLs (md5 / SHA1)
-use PowerISO to mount or burn ISOs
-use a dedicated physical server machine (server)
OR
-use VMware (server)
Also, I cannot support mixing files whatsoever! I am sorry to announce this includes "saving your old characters" and whatnot... There are too many factors that come into play when you try to do something like this (mix files), so there really is nothing I can do to help, sorry...
Nice release. I have one question. When I bring up the map and hit kingdom map it wont show the territories is this disabled?
I don't know if you would but instead of making everyone re-download the server files and the client after each set of fix's you make, you could release a patch for both client/server far less of a download time easy to merge over into the files released prior to this new release.
Then on top of that people who fix something within these files could also post patches that can get verified by you that they are working and can be added into your next patch type thing.
Then every like ionno 5 patches you re-release the whole package with all current fixes etc.
Physically I could do something like that. Although I probably never actually would. I understand it may be quite tedious to have to re-download the entire package for only a few changes that may total a couple megabytes (if that), but trust me when I say it's tedious for me to have to re-upload it all too (seeing as upload speeds are never as good as download speeds on residential connections)... I also want to stay away from doing 'patches' or 'updates' because that just leads for higher rates of confusion (and / or problems) among newcomers (and even some whom which are experienced), not to mention of course the main reason I do it the way I do -- is because of my personal obsessive compulsive behaviors (as some would call it), I say my perfectionist personality.
Luckily, (not trying to be a jerk or nothin') we are at a point where I really feel this current release is pretty solid, and I don't foresee any more updates coming any time soon. Even when and if we find more issues ('bugs') that need to be resolved I think updating the whole package will be at time intervals more-so than 'per bug fix' -- because it would get too tedious to have to re-upload (and for people to re-download) for a single fix. Example: even if we found a 'bug' right now / today, I would not update the package until more time has elapsed to make sure we don't find something else wrong too. I think once a month would be a decent starting point, say, the 4th of every month. On the 4th of every month I could re-upload the package with any fixes that were made. Of course this does mean, if I find a 'bug' on the 5th, everyone will have to wait until the 4th of the next month until they get that 'fix' (and any others), but I also really don't want to waste any time creating and supporting 'patches' when I want all my attention and focus to be on finding and fixing more 'bugs' -- again, not to be a 'jerk'! -- I just think it would be more efficient. Just to reiterate -- I really do think this current release is pretty solid, and I don't foresee any more updates coming any time soon.
That'll do it every time :)
I always turn on PvP and TW (battlefield) myself -- For whatever reason they were set to 0 from whatever package I initially downloaded and started working off of for this release, thus my 'base files' remained that way. Thinking about it, it makes sense and I like it that way. Since they technically are 'options' it should be the choice of the person(s) running the server to enable them :)
343 ty for all
Code:its posseble join to server with 1.4.2 client? i need add version in
glinkd/gamesys.conf
10402 ????? I know you write in first post its may not work with out your client, asking :)
Sorry, but I have no desire to support "non bulk" installations. My goal for this release was to have it as simplistic as possible (provided my methods/instructions are followed 'to a T') so that even a complete newcomer could succeed in setting up their own PW server. Of course, you can feel free to do as you want with the release, but you will have to learn how things work, and figure out what to do on your own.
The errors you get attempting to install ia32-libs is because SuSe is an RPM (.rpm) distro. DPKG is for Debain (.deb) based distro's (such as Ubuntu)... My installation of ia32-libs happens to be for .deb DPKG. Do not forget that you do not even need to install ia32-libs unless you're running a 64 bit installation of Linux.
Running start.sh does not start the actual game server, it only starts MySQL, APACHE, & APACHE TOMCAT. Once you have ran start.sh you must go to pwAdmin -- "SERVER CONTROL" and start the actual game server from there.
NO, you CANNOT use 1.4.2 or 1.4.3 or 1.4.4
Default username for MySQL upon installation is 'root' and the password is blank. However, all of the PW files are set up for username 'root' and password 'root'. So, provided you ran setup.sh located in /root/notes/ that will automatically make the user 'root' have the password 'root'. You cannot have a blank password, or change the password for user 'root' (without having to change it in every place necessary for the PW server to fully and properly function), the user 'root' MUST retain the password 'root'. The only reason I could foresee you getting such errorsis because the user 'root' does not have the password 'root' (whether you did not run setup.sh, or changed it).Quote:
