More than I'm sure I even know... For one I hear P2P has housing actually implemented <.<
I'm thinking if it was, someone would have done it already... ... ...
Like in this vid? Perfect World - unknown places! - YouTube
We would be able to copy just about any map we want, heck we copy maps from other angelica based games. I mean we cannot implement features like housing... (For lack of a better explanation.)
this server is only for Linux? :|
//facepalm
OMFG ~~ for the ten-billionth time:
YES, THIS SERVER IS ONLY FOR LINUX
WHAT, you got a problem w/ Linux :?:
No, there were NEVER Perfect World server files for Windows, they do not exist, and they NEVER WILL... PW is strictly LINUX only...

Is Linux your host OS ?
You want this one on the download page not the i386 bundle one this is the one you want ------>VMware-player-5.0.0-812388.exe
When i go to 127.0.0.1 it says: Can´t connect to the Server at 127.0.0.1 (All IP´s in the configfiles are configured).
Can you help me with that?
127.0.0.1 is a localhost/loopback
READ HERE
Yes I know that, but now i´ve used my Hamachi Ip Adress and it doesnt funktion as well...
There's nothing I can do, other than tell you that you need to read up more on networking... Aside doing it for you, which is also not an option...
...ive allready red your networking thread
I am just trying to help out, this may be completely wrong but its worth a shot.
In the 1.4.4 release asborges put up, the ip for pwadmin and stuff is 127.0.1.1 not 127.0.0.1, asuming its the same here, try putting that instead? To connect in game you need to put your IP not 127.0.0.1.
As I mentioned, I could be wrong (still new to deving) but having something to try beats nothing?
First of all GET RID of Hamachi, it is GARBAGE!
I REALLY wish I could claim this kid was mine (he sounds like he's 10 but) he knows more about networking than 90% of the adults I know <.<

I wont give him any credit for using an apple product (in the 2nd video) since I HATE apple, but I will give him credit since I noticed he was using a DLink "office" router (which will be better than standard 'consumer crap'), even though I realize it's most likely his parents that bought it, and it's probably also his parent(s) that can be credited for him knowing so much... Trust me, my kids will know just as much if not more than this little guy >.>

I'm really not trying to insult you, I AM trying to help; but I am not going to spoon feed you because then you wont learn anything. If you GIVE a man a fish you feed him FOR A DAY, but if you teach him to fish, you feed that man FOR LIFE...
First thing is first, get rid of Hamachi... It will not help you learn networking one bit... Also, you really do NOT have to learn advanced networking to run a server of ANY type. It's the most basic of networking... Some points you should learn/read up on:
- DHCP (static and dynamic IPs) because for servers you HAVE to use STATIC
- Firewall / Port Forwarding because for servers you HAVE to allow inbound traffic on the designated port(s) for whatever services you're running
- DNS (if you want people to be able to access your server using a simple name like MYSERVER.COM)
- ROUTERS ~ They are the middle man between your LAN and the WAN
- The difference in LAN and WAN IP's

I am wondering why not to use torrent file for client download?
I would be more than glad to upload one and seed.
There will be many small things (and I'm sure one of the things most people are looking forward to is my v145 'add-on' =\); Though I really think this is going to be my last release/update so I will be attempting to make sure it's better than perfect before release... ... ...
Okay, i have problem with WMware v9 -_- because its very lagged for me. Any version is compactible with Windows XP? my RAM just 2GB :(
183 pages in and I still can't figure out why people would want to try and run a server on a vm. If you're gonna spend the time to install an OS and server software, why not just do it native.
I would suggest you to update your pc before trying to run pw server without lags, altough im using vbox for my test server it takes over 1gb to just launch the main world map.
And assuming that windows will ask for about 1gb also, then there's kinda nothing much you can do to make it stop lag without buying extra ram or any other components that are needed.
Correct, 2GB will NOT "cut it". You will need an absolute minimum of 4GB for the PW SERVER itself (so if you're using a VM I would say 4GB + whatever your host OS requires [I personally would not run WinXP on any less than 1GB, so at the least your calculation would be 4+1= 5GB of course you usually have to use matching modules so 5GB isn't really feasible ~ so you're looking at a minimum necessary amount of 6~8 GB of ram and that will be JUST for the world map])...
You can see the full recommended spec's HERE - http://forum.ragezone.com/f755/requi...1/#post6885483
Only asking this because I have spent ages looking (googling) and I have had no luck.
You opened up firefox in the vmware, how did you achieve it? My vmware just shows a terminal and as far as I can tell I can't open any applications.
Everything is working with the server up to this point but I can't turn it on. I origionally did it with my dual booted ubuntu but for some reason ip/register would work but ip/admin would not (ip/admin worked one time then stopped).
I know both probably have blindly obvious answers, and after my sifting through the search results I have missed something, but I would really appreciate any ideas.
Also - Re-downloaded one time and I have done multiple attempts at it, those two are my last two, for both im stuck being unable to turn on the server. Frustrating since 1.4.4 took me 2 tries and my only real issue was one space in the server.txt that was supposed to be a tab.
Thanks,
Ratchet
Edit:
Ok so far so good, I did another wipe and reinstall of everything and it seems to be working alright. I am guessing the ubuntu error I had was through not using the root account (I am unsure why but sudo passwd root and sudo passwd -u root don't enable me to log into the root account so I had to use su -l).
I am still interested on the vmware, how to get firefox up like you did but its not really a big issue if this is (actually) working for me.
I didn't open firefox in the Linux VM... I had firefox set to open in the allotted recording area of my screen in my host (windblowz) OS...
Ok good, I was fairly sure that was it, still had to ask.
Well everything works except my ubuntu keeps giving me errors and wont download wine to let me run the patcher >.<
Always has to be something thing wrong :glare: (Atleast its not with the release).
Also the reason I asked is it wouldn't let me access pwadmin from my host computer (using vmware), I possibly did something wrong though.
Edit:
Ok so now everything is working, I guess getting some sleep fixed things...
Yea, lack of sleep can tend to screw things up. At least it does for me too sometimes... ... ...
I need help because my Gshop dount work.Pls help me to fix the problem
There are plenty of threads on how to edit gshop, please do not post in a Release thread about something so basic. Especially with such little information about the exact gshop problem. Being new is one thing, being lazy and not searching, reading or trial and error is just rude and ignorant.
Yea, not to mention HI-JACKING... Surely you are NOT talking about the GSHOP in MY/THIS release because to date I know of NOTHING wrong with this release...
Consider this your warning, do NOT let it happen again ~ and welcome to RZ :):
Actually the sGSHOPedit doesnt work for me either, might be a windows 7 thing, I just grabbed another copy.
So to update the server on vmware do I just mount server_root, edit the files on win7 and then mount on vmware, copy all to root?
That is what I have done but before I copy to root I thought I should check.
I have not tried it personally on 1.3.6, however there is this new editor that does 1.3.6 & 1.4.5 http://forum.ragezone.com/f751/share...-3-6-a-884042/
There is also this editor that is suppose to support both http://forum.ragezone.com/f751/relea...anager-882547/
And of course you can always use the most updated copy of Ronny's http://forum.ragezone.com/f753/ronny-s-tools-848042/
As far as the unmodified gshop file that comes with this release, there is nothing wrong with it. As far as it being a Windows 7 issue, I would have to say no as I run Windows 7 64 bit and it works just fine. I would however make sure it is fully updated.
Is it possible for someone to use TeamViewer to help me? I just don't know what to do T_T
It's so confusing! *Sucks at stuff like this*
More than willing to help when/where I can, but if you can't get a 1.3.6 server up and running with this package and step by step guide, then this site is not for you.
Very nice tutorial and pack.
Thank you. I'm slightly confused though.
I understand this server needs to be running on Linux only which is great because I've been using Linux for 5 years and I never intend to return to Windows.
But why is the Spatcher an exe? Surely it can't be good to mix Linux executables with MS Win executables, or am I missing something?
Thanks!
Patcher is client side...
sPatcher for server side is merely a directory in an HTTP server with a specific file in it
EDIT:
1. Can I use another client to make the server, or only the ones on this package?
2. On this, I'm getting "mount point /cdrom does not exist."
Spoiler:
You can use any client you like with this, the proper question is "If I use a different client with this will it work properly?" and that is answered in the OP and re answered multiple times throughout the 184 pages/2759 posts of this thread. But hey why not post it again, Yes you can use any client you want, however, NO IT WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY NOR SHOULD YOU USE ANY OTHER CLIENT OTHER THAN THE ONE PROVIDED WITH THIS RELEASE.
you open the client files? I can not open anything archives ... prompt
Make things easier on everyone, if you are wanting/don't know how to open/edit/modify the client files after reading 184 pages of this thread or any other tutorial on the forums please push http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...ech/images.jpg on your computer and walk away quickly.
First of all, I just want to say WOW. This package along with all the information in the 180+ pages from informed commenters and 343 himself....is pretty great. I knew absolutely nothing about this topic, yet with this package, it almost set itself up, I just want to give a tremendous thank you to the work that went into this, and for everyone else who had helpful information to add in the comments.
THANK YOU!!!
Hit 'da like button :):
I'm glad you liked the package. I am in the process of making a major update (in case you missed that news), which will include a bunch of new 'addons' too. Stay tuned to RZ for those updates
Sadly I cannot give even an estimate to when they may be released as I have been so busy outside of RZ. I would hate to give out potentially false information. So just rest assured I will be putting that out there as soon as I feasibly can :):
Hi, which version of ubuntu do i have to download? My computer is 32-bit and I see 2 versions of ubuntu included in the thread.
Your best bet IMO is 32 bit server edition.
I have to ask (just to verify), do you say your computer is 32-bit because your CPU (is so old it) really is 32-bit (unable to handle 64-bit instruction), or do you say your computer is 32-bit just because the current operating system you have installed is 32-bit (ie... your CPU could actually be capable of handling 64-bit 'instructions' (ie OS/programs)) ?
If your CPU is really not capable of handling 64-bit, then yes, I would say grab the 32-bit Linux provided with this release. Otherwise, if you find out your CPU can handle 64-bit you should use the 64-bit version. Even if you're unsure, you could always try using the 64-bit Linux provided in the first post (if your CPU cannot handle 64-bit it wont even let you install it).
ubuntu-10.04.3-server-i386.iso ~ is the 32-bit version
ubuntu-10.04.3-server-amd64.iso ~ is the 64-bit version
Though if you plan on running this in a VM (as I assume you would be) I do not know if (or think) you would be able to run a 64-bit OS as a guest if your host OS is only 32-bit, regardless of whether your CPU can 'handle it' or not... Not sure on that one, so don't hold me to it. I also have no way to test that theory out, as I don't currently have any machines running a 32-bit OS...
What I would do if I were in your shoes: download and try the 64-bit version (regardless of whether you'll be running it in a VM or natively), and see if it will install. If it will not, then you know you will need the 32-bit version...
The only way I know you could possibly avoid a guess and check would be to download THIS and look at the following settings to see if your CPU can 'handle' the 64-bit Instruction Set (see image):
http://forum.ragezone.com/attachment...7&d=1352053928
ADD: do not be confused by the name (aida64) it can be ran on 32-bit or 64-bit
what vmware should i use for this? VMWARE, VM box, workstation which one?
My recommendation would be VMware as that is my personal favorite. It really doesn't matter whether you use their "player" or "workstation". Though Player is FREE and can now also create VM's too (used to have to use workstation to create new VMs). Although, if you want workstation, you will have to A) pay for it or B) bootleg/'steal' it. I personally like it so much I purchased a license for Workstation 9 (it's only $249)
Hi I am unable to start xampp. It says file directory not found.

How do I get this working?
Are there gm commands for this? How do I become a gm? How do I make the sign say Online instead of Offline in pwadmin?
Thank you for your hard work 343. I managed to run my Perfect World like I always wanted. Thank you for helping the community and providing lots of information when questions are asked. Like ++
When are you going to release it? Will it include new races, new classes, mounts and fashion?
When it's done... No, my favorite version is v136 (I especially hate tideborn, both assassins & psychics)...
I must also warn, it's probably still going to be quite some time before it's all released. I have since quit PWi, so this will very likely be my last release/update/expansions ever. So I'm gonna try to make it one hell of a good one :wink:Spoiler:

Questions about the interface:
1. buttons horn and hyper exp work or not?
2. no panel track quests on screen (work or not?)
3. blessing/healing filter not work
4. it does not matter, but what's so stretched and pasted minimap icons chats? looks ugly
5. max lvl 105, how change? Wrote in ptemplate.conf 150, but not work
excuse my imprecise language
Ок, replace interface files from 1.2.6, and fonts from 1.4.0 :ott:
5-The 'default' is 105 in this release, however you can change it a little higher than that. You CANNOT exceed 119 (I made it HARD capped @ lv 119) though...
So it doesn't matter if you set it to 150, you will still be unable to surpass level 119...
And can somehow unlock this? I want 150lv & quests at this lv:cool:Quote:

HI all, i'm noob to having a PW server and i tried fiddling with it to use it for messing around on my own pc only.
I've tried 2 releases, a 1.4.5 one and the one in this thread.
All goes fine and works until i go to pwAdmin website and see that the connection to mysql database failed.
How can i fix this, cause i tried the search function and it didn't gave me any clues how to solve it.
Thanks in advance, i hope someone can give me a hint how to make it work.
Sorry I can not support raising it above 119 :(:
If you haven't modified anything, and are getting MySQL connect errors in pwAdmin, are you sure you started MySQL (as long as you haven't modified anything you should not have to worry about anything else like mismatching passwords etc...) ?
Yes i followed your guide to the letter and didnt change anything as far as i know.
What files do i need to check for passwords or server IP adresses?
There I fixed my response for you. There are too many places to list where passwords and IPs are, so if that's something you really wanted to venture in to, sorry there's no list available (so you're on your own on that one). In a technical sense anyways, the ONLY places you have to 'configure' anything is listed in the instructions (post #2)... How could you not know if you changed something or not ? Anyway, you can be assured if you install without changing anything everything will work just fine, perhaps just try a fresh installation... ... ...
But if you so much as say, changed the MySQL user password then yea, that would literally break *everything* in the release, unless you knew/figured out ALL the places that 'call' for the use of the MySQL user password... Which, again, I cannot populate a list for you because in technicality there are far too many (I just don't have the time either), and I went through the trouble of making sure that only the minimum needed to be 'configured' to make it work, so that people could use this release as a working, learning, tool :):
Importing Roles to MySQL Failed <-- i get that when i try to sync the GameDB with MySQL Role Table(on PwAdmin) and it started doing that after the first 30 or so accounts made so any hints as to what happened? Thank you.
Not sure, I've never had this problem. Are you doing it with the server running and players online? One possible thought, if you are, is that the system is running out of resources while trying to do the import...
I would recommend doing it whenever the server (except for ofc gamedbd) is 'down' so that you have all available resources to do it...
343, is it possible to find a normal npcgen.data for the old frostcover city?
In general, it would be nice to do a separate location of the old frostcover city and warsong
Anyone can help me install it or open or something? with TeamViwer.... i really have no idea how to do that.
I'm fool, 150 level is working properly, just went into negative experience

Omg can anyone help me to install it with teamviwer??
i'm dizzy coz tutorial/guide is different from the files.
example for /opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/2/webapps/pwAdmin/WEB-INF/.userconfig.jsp
there's no pwAdmin folder in files that mention in the guide or even .userconfig.jsp
should i rename them or maybe it's different file for different guide. even video tutorial is different..
i'm not so good with linux, if i want to make it work with xampp in windows 7, can i do that with this files?
edited: nvm, it works like a charm, but u should really update the tutorial. for a linux noob like me, a little different make me confuse. but can i make it work for xampp in windows 7?
btw, autopath not working?
I got a quick question about CPW. What is the minimum RAM requirement to run this? Does it get higher as the program runs and processes the client or does it not matter as long as you have the hard disk space?
I am a massive archiver, so I would have to check my archives to see if I happen to have either of these. If not, maybe someone else around here will
The video may be slightly dated, but overall it still covers the bulk of the important things that need to be done... I am pretty sure the text is 100% up to date though. Either way I am working on a MAJOR update to this release package (including new add-ons too) and will most likely update the video again (or even get rid of it)...
Never got too deep into CPW, so I'm not entirely sure. I would presume the main requisite would be HDD space (for the fully un-compressed client)... I don't think or know that it would consume any additional RAM as from what I understand it is really 'operated' through HTTPD (apache/web server)... {hence the dynamic link between the CPW directory and the web server}...
No you're not blind, and yes, the file IS there... Any file (or directory) that begins with a . (dot) is not displayed in 'normal' directory listings. If you were to use the LS command with the switch -a you would see it. Or if you were to go to edit it (ie. nano .userconfig.jsp) you will see that it is indeed there  If for any reason it wasn't there, then you did not properly copy the files over...
