Well since Nobody else will ask for it! I will, Upload YOUR edited Server files and client side 343! I want to see all of the hard work you've done! I know you know alot about this stuff and I think it would be amazingly awsome to see all of the work you've put into your own server! If you don't want to that's fine just thought I would ask :)

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
I don't have an actual ('live') server... I have made and deleted probably a million test/build VM servers over the time though... Right now my current test/build server is not much different than what's already out there (minus stuff for the 'update' though of course).

Anything I have that is useful should be in my PW_DEV.ISO... I don't know for sure if I have the one that you've specifically asked for/about but I do know there is at least one model viewer in it

Hi, I wanted to say thanks for the detailed guide.
BUT..
I've followed both your text guide and your video guide several times over.. but I still have a problem.
I can't get past the point where you login via your web browser..
I typed in: ifconfig eth0 and found the IP, I've typed that IP in both the: nano /opt/lampp/htdocs/config.php, nano /opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/2/webapps/pwAdmin/WEB-INF/.userconfig.jsp and nano /etc/hosts and saved changes.
I typed the same IP into VBox's settings on both the server and VBox..
I typed the same IP into the internet browser, but it can't find the web server.
What have I done wrong? :?:
I'm in-experienced, as you can tell.:/:

PW Server 343 can't access pwAdmin site 10.0.0.51
i already finished on this problem (by my self)
http://forum.ragezone.com/f694/compl.../index195.html
and the last problem is setting the IP to open pwAdmin site (10.0.0.51/Admin),
so basically:
where must i change the IP (very detail like setting in VMware, Network and Sharing Center, or inside server_root)
and ip what should I enter? whether from the site What Is My IP Address or on cmd " ipconfig "

Those HASH'S don't look the same as what I have up, so my guess is bad DL's... DL again until checksums match (and or just wait for my update [if you're willing/able to wait a couple months LOL])...

Use the LAN IP of the machine (not the one you'll get from any "what is my ip" website). Also not the one from IPCONFIG, as that is your Windows machine (and a windows command) -- that would also be like typing 127.0.0.1 in to your browser. You will want to use the IP from your VM (you can use ifconfig to get this)...
If you need any other basic networking assistance check out THIS thread  http://forum.ragezone.com/f695/absol...6/#post6038760

Bridged (with replicate a physical network connection state ticked/selected)
At least that's what I use, and recommend... I guess it could depend on what exactly you want from it. Myself I like being able to test things from any PC in my LAN, so host only would not be viable (that only allows a "network connection" between the VM host and guest OS's)... Now NAT from what I understand (never used it) actually shares a single IP for your host and guest (VM) OS... IE your windows (guessing windows [host]) would have IP 192.168.1.10, so your linux (guest) VM would also be 192.168.1.10 (like I said, I think)... So, and, I think bridged (w/ replicate physical) is the best, because then it's truly like being it's own machine. It will need a UNIQUE IP on the network, and it will truly be like a separate physical machine on the network... So EX: your host windows machine would be 192.168.1.10 while your VM/guest/linux could be 192.168.1.11 (or anything excetp 192.168.1.10 [and whatever the IP of any other devices on your network including your router])...

Not too sure on this one, although I must say it doesn't sound right (I don't really think swapping displays would cause this)... I am actually about to go to bed (super tired) so I will check over your logs at my next soonest possible convenience

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Right now the only place it's available is 4shared sorry. Also the download that is currently available is heavily dated as I am currently working on a MAJOR update to this package (mentioned several times in this thread I think by now)... However I haven't really had any clue on when I may finish... More or less it's "in the air" at this point, it could be tomorrow, it could be next week, it could be next year - who knows... This next 'update' will probably be the last one EVER to this package as I will most likely be leaving PW 'dev' in its entirety after I finish and release it...

And your welcome, I use the Genesis interface for my server, so I'll be continuing to update it. When I make a more updated version I post it here for you along with notes on what I did.
I know this is not an elgant solution, but you could alwasy use cpw to replace the graphics files with files 1 byte in size...

You can get this on your own from the server or the client. You can look at precinct.clt from the client, or you can even look at serverctrl.jsp from pwAdmin. Also from surfaces.pck form the client, from all the maps in /surfaces/ingame/XXX.dds
Or the interwebz (maps) @ : Map - ecatomb.net : Perfect World (on this website the images have an added 2 before the extension IE a022.jpg == map a02 )
Also, if you're looking for what they're called for the command to use to start a certain map ~ that can exclusively be found in gs.conf (ie you want to know how to start secret passage, it would be "./gs is02" [not "./gs a02"] and you would look at the server side gs.conf to figure this out)

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Hey,
The website keeps redirecting me to /register/ i've looked in every single config file and found 0.
Where can I change this?
----------------------------------
Other thing is:
- How can I make the start.sh (in root) start at startup (not when I log on but when the computer starts?) I have tried but the it just gives some error in Tomcat,, I think is something with the java, but it goes so fast that I dont have time to read the rest!
Thank you,
Daalpadu
PS: Great release, 343.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
It's supposed to do that...
Although if you're attempting to make customizations ~ you can change this on your own via the simple HTML redirect that I have in there (this release uses a lamp stack (xampp) installed to opt)...

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
There are many things that come to mind: Something could be wrong/bad with you machine. Perhaps bad RAM, or a bad HDD, maybe even a bad CPU... That would probably be the worst case scenario (having some bad hardware)... Maybe you just got a bad DL, of either the package and or the OS; have you checked all of the file hash's to make sure you have all good downloads? A bad download should be relatively easy to remedy (as long as you don't have bandwidth constraints or something)... Or at the simpler end of things, maybe you just a bad install of the OS or this package. If your hardware tests ok, and all your file download hash's match their proper 'checksums' then most likely a simple re-installation should cure it...

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
for those who have a finicky dvdrom drive like i have upload your iso to server place it in /tmp/
chmod on iso so you can access
then
after making the dir
do this :
Code:
mount -o loop /tmp/server_root.iso /mnt/iso
then go to dir it's mounted in
to verify iso
then finally just do
this is for those who had a problem with ubuntu detecting disk image on cd-rom

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Ideally you'd want to grab ubuntu 10.04 LTS (included in the first post) since that is what this release was meant for. There is also a high probability it would also work just fine with ubuntu 12.04 LTS as well (since that's what I'm designing the major update for this package to work on), you do NOT want to use 12.10 or any other NON LTS version...

Well how is this completed?
I mean all other release like hrace are same just diffrent Ips nothing else right?
but hrace realese have many guides on making it online does this have?
Well if it does please tell me cause I already used it

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
You don't need a guide to "making it online" making ANY server online is the SAME... It does not matter whether it is a PW server, or an apache server, or a WoW server, or a MySQL server, or a Ventrillo server, or a Teamspeak server, or a CounterStrike server, or a Mumble server, or an FTP server, or a DNS server, or a ... ... ... do you get the point???
Though, if you're having problems with networking ("making it online" as you say) you may want to read (note: you'll have to not only read but understand it too, so re-read it over and over if you have to, until you fully understand it) THIS: http://forum.ragezone.com/f695/absol...6/#post6038760

You're going to want to install the OS (linux) I recommend using the x64 (amd64) version listed in post #1. Once you have the OS installed you can install this PW server package using those instructions from post #2... Takes about 12 minutes to do
That's one of the nice things about my release. You can install it in any which way you want. On a physical (real) machine, or in a VM etc... All you have to do is install the OS, then this package. Doing both should take you about 12 minutes (as depicted in the video of me doing it in post #2 of this thread)... It's really that easy!!!

fine, i'll try to give you a guide,
it's different with hrache which you can just simply "import appliance"
in this files,
you must install ubuntu in vbox, klik new, and follow the guide
that is what this files used for :

watch video in post #2
after you install linux/ubuntu
you need to install winscp (google it)
second, run your linux
type : sudo passwd
then enter
then type a password (password you type won't appear)
retype your password
type ifconfig
there's your IP
open winscp
click new,
type your ip from ifconfig to hostname in winscp
username=root
password=password you type in sudo passwd
save and login
import files server_root.iso contain into root : /*.*
here they are,
just watch the video in post #2
and you'll know what to do next...
sorry for bad english :P:

wew,
total noob,
if you want to follow my guide :
use virtual cd drive (i'm using ultra Iso, you can use daemon tools too)
after that,
mount the ubuntu-10.04.3-server-amd64.iso or ubuntu-10.04.3-server-i386.iso
depend on which one you want to install it...
open vbox
click new, next, give a name, choose operating system linux, version ubuntu choose memory RAM you want to used for that ubuntu (at least 1GB or 1024MB, create new hard disc, click next, next, dynamically expanding storage, click next, change size to 30GB
finish, finish
click on start
next, click on cd/dvd room device,
on media source, change to your mounted iso virtual drive, next, next, finish (next follow video on post #2)
i used sun virtual box v 3.1.2
not oracle

Stop bothering with winSCP, mount this package ISO as an optical disc and install it that way. MAC addresses aren't software related they're hardware related...

From what I can see the address you entered is the gateway address when you should have used 192.168.100.10, it also looks like you have Hamachi running, I have had problems in the past with that running while trying to get the server up on the network side of things.... just a heads up.

I wont give him any credit for using an apple product (in the 2nd video) since I HATE apple, but I will give him credit since I noticed he was using a DLink "office" router (which will be better than standard 'consumer crap'), even though I realize it's most likely his parents that bought it, and it's probably also his parent(s) that can be credited for him knowing so much... Trust me, my kids will know just as much if not more than this little guy >.>

I'm really not trying to insult you, I AM trying to help; but I am not going to spoon feed you because then you wont learn anything. If you GIVE a man a fish you feed him FOR A DAY, but if you teach him to fish, you feed that man FOR LIFE...
First thing is first, get rid of Hamachi... It will not help you learn networking one bit... Also, you really do NOT have to learn advanced networking to run a server of ANY type. It's the most basic of networking... Some points you should learn/read up on:
- DHCP (static and dynamic IPs) because for servers you HAVE to use STATIC
- Firewall / Port Forwarding because for servers you HAVE to allow inbound traffic on the designated port(s) for whatever services you're running
- DNS (if you want people to be able to access your server using a simple name like MYSERVER.COM)
- ROUTERS ~ They are the middle man between your LAN and the WAN
- The difference in LAN and WAN IP's

right I had it my bro used it for his runescape server?
lol damn I thought the problem was in the installation so I deleted it and going to restart it now..
I should delete it from the cp right?

No, you do not want to use DHCP for servers, ever...

IDK, I don't use VBOX - I would suggest consulting VBOX instructions/manuals/websites/forums...
No...
Just follow the directions in post #2
I do not use WinSCP myself, so again (like with VBOX) I would suggest consulting WinSCP instructions/manuals/websites/forums...

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
if you dont use vbox you should be using VMWare right?
f you dont use Winscp how do u put the root.iso in the data base?
-
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
So. I set up the server on some virtualization software (I use VBox but I believe VMware player is easier to use, just the free version is super annoying), and it worked fine. Played around with the server and the settings, fantastic. Can configure it through lan, no problems there.
Then I set it up on a dedicated server. access to your (343's) account management pages is fine. I can initialize the server through putty, ok. But I can not access pwAdmin.
I have opened port 8443 in UFW but it hasn't helpped.
I dont mind not being able to use phpmyadmin, I can access the database through putty, but I need pwadmin access :/
If you could give me some pointers? (Chrome wont even tell me the error. It merely says it could not connect to IP:8443/pwAdmin)
Many thanks
Falney
Edit:
On a side note. It seem's to be a great server from what I have seen and it has been a fantastic introduction to setting up PWservers. Thank's :>

One way of doing it is to download Daemon tools or some other program that allows you to mount .iso files, mount it then in linux type
"mount /dev/cdrom/ /cdrom" I think it is. It says on the second post.
As for my interfaces? It wont do you any good. The chance we have the same IP/hardware is unlikely.

This sounds like the long way around. You shouldn't have to mount the ISO within your host OS to be able to mount it within your guest OS. You should be able to directly mount it to the guest OS using the VM software. At least I know this is the case with VMware, again can't say anything about VBOX as I do not use it (and never have, only tried it once to see that I thought it sucked compared to VMware!).
Although, that should still work (I highly doubt there is any necessity to do it the long way like that).

(as above) Directly mount it to the guest OS as an optical disc (and you're "putting it in" the VM, not any "data base")

Not sure about the whole port 8443 thing for you :(: The update that will be coming out sooner or later has done entirely away with the 2nd installation of tomcat...
As redundant as it will be (troubleshooting usually is) double check EVERYTHING. Make sure it's running, make sure all the ports are open in any and all firewalls, if this dedicated server is located outside the LAN, also make sure 8443 is an allowed OUTBOUND port, etc etc etc... (Also ofc make sure you've installed ia32-libs if using x64) Pulling it apart and being redundant is the only way you or anyone else will find the problem  :):

if you're sitting at a home computer, on a home network, your netmask is most likely 255.255.255.0 (MAYBE 255.255.0.0 depending on the router, but I doubt it)...

Well how should I do that? when I write the
mount /dev/cdrom/ /cdrom
it says block device /dev/sr0 is write-protected , mounting read-only
so what to do there?
---------------------
what VMware do u use in the vedio?
I mean workstation or VMWare server or what?

I have never managed to mount an ISO natively while using vbox without first manually setting up a drive in ubuntu on any version of ubuntu. I mentioned the method because he was talking about using vbox and that was the easy way of doing it. I couldn't get vBox to register server_root.iso as a ligit iso. It kept throwing a tantrum so I added a virtual drive to ubuntu and uploaded the iso to the server when I was doing initial tests on a cheap vps.
Using daemon tools is a much easier way of getting around vbox's pissyness over the iso.
Before you say to change to VMWare. I use vBox because I like the VBoxManage CMD program and I think VMWare took the network manager out of the free player they have.

given that it is a CDROM, this is pretty natural. I believe it did this on the tutorial video.
As for my problem.
Many hours and much headache later... It is fixed and working. I am considering pulling it apart and setting it up manually for the production server though. Despite the problems I have had though, I really love this release. Thanks again.
EDIT:: For Taildfox
When it says that is is "mounting read-only" type in
cd /cdrom/

If you can get it to work on anything later than that, go for it. I managed to get it working on a vbox with 12.10 but it limpped and it was hard. I couldn't get PW Admin to work properly either.
Mounting the disk would not work without manually adding a loop for it among other things as well as the pwadmin issue. It's more trouble than it's worth at the end of the day.
I did not want to go through it all over again with the test server then again on the production server so I decided to just downgrade to the version you can download on the original post. It save's a lot of hassle and most companies will install it on dedicated servers on request.

We haven't gone live yet. Is it close enough for us to just hang back and wait for it?
