cp -R * / but still idk what is wronge it doesnt work..

It is because you are using virtual box. People were telling you to use vmWare viewer. As I mentioned when you were starting, VirtualBox is a lot harder to use, I use it because of the networking tools you get on it that you dont get on vmWare viewer any more.
It is a LOT harder to use and you really should use vmWare. It's much more user friendly for a newb. I believe vmWare uses an IP address from the network your PC is on. So if you are 192.168.0.2 then your server could be 192.168.0.3 where as with VBox it is 192.168.100.7 as VBox creates a virtual network on your PC.
At this point you need to do some voodoo witch craft through VBoxManager (CLI program that allows you to catch ports on the host computer among other things) Stuff you just dont need to do on vmWare. If you want to continue using vBox. I suggest you go read through the networking section of the manual then come back.
Just a highlight.

I'd been running and playing this for about a year without any problems, but then, about half a year ago (I'd been hoping to solve the problem myself between now and then or that it'd fix itself) and while I was playing, the pwAdmin password suddenly stopped working, which prevented me from switching maps or anything, but the ones that were already running kept running like nothing was wrong, and I encountered no other problems…except the password hasn't worked since. I run it on VMware and am the only person who plays on it. I thought maybe it had somehow been changed, but not only does it show the password still as "root", which I had never changed, changing it to something else, then back again, doesn't fix the problem either. I figure reinstalling everything would fix the problem, but since I don't know what caused it in the first place, it might happen again, and then that wouldn't really solve anything. And I'm not terribly expert with Linux, and I'd rather not have to start over again in the game nor have to struggle through figuring out just what I needed to copy to where to prevent starting over if it could be avoided.
What would really be perfect would be if there was a way to simply be able to bypass the password. Is there a way I could do that?
If not, is there a way I could manually run things instead of using pwAdmin? Thanks for the help.
Edit: I figured out the cause of this (now that it's over a year later, and this doesn't even help me anymore…). Apparently, typing "rot" instead of "root" in pwAdmin as the password will work but somehow changes the password to "rot", and "root" will no longer work. I haven't tried changing it back and don't plan to even bother trying because for me, "root" or "rot", there's really no difference, but I thought I'd at least share how to get back into pwAdmin once it's happened in case anyone else encounters this problem.
I have not done this my self as it is not safe, but you could take out all of the login checks in the code it's self. Stop it from verifying who you are.Quote:

In some config file (no clue where, I don't use pwadmin) there's an md5sum of your password. Change that and done.

I have just restarted our linux server and now my gamedbd will not re-initialise through pwAdmin. (All other services are fine)
I have attempted:
and I getCode:cd /PWServer/gamedbd; ./gamedbd gamesys.conf
I then went through:Code:err : Initialize storage environment failed.
cd /root
./stop.sh
reboot
./start.sh (upon reboot obviously)
No errors in starting services via the script.
I then attempted to start the server via pwadmin and it still failed.
If any one can suggest anything to try?
Server has 8gb ram. Can't remember the CPU clock speed but it is a quad xeon and we only have the world loaded with 2 gm accounts and 3 test accounts.
This is a test server at this stage as we work on getting everything ready to roll so while it will be a pain in the ass to do, I can just roll out a new copy of the server. BUT I would rather not if I can help it. Also learning what happened and how to fix it would be a big plus for in the future.
Unfortunately I my self have not had chance to look at how the server it's self works as all of my time thus far has been in producing a website and the creation of a php administration panel to replace pwAdmin with.

That file you're looking for in regard to the pwAdmin login password is a file called .pwadminconf.jsp located in ../webapps/pwAdmin/WEB-INF/
This release has been changed a LOT for the upcoming update so I'm not 100% sure but I think the absolute location for this current release would be:
/opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/2/webapps/pwAdmin/WEB-INF/.pwadminconf.jsp
That would be the one I've been attempting to change. When the password stopped working, I had a look at that, and I couldn't find any reason for it to not work. It was still the default, as I'd left it. I thought maybe if I changed it to something else it might somehow fix the problem, but neither doing that nor then changing it back afterwards has done anything.Quote:

No they are not ['linked'], the pwAdmin/root combo is merely an .htaccess password stored in ../lampp/security/restricted.groups and ../lampp/security/restricted.users
also if changing the password around in .pwadminconf.jsp you'll likely want to remove the 'work' directory
ex:
rm -R /opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/work
&
rm -R /opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/2/work
This all sounds kinda odd (as in, never had anything like this happen to me). I would think with that error you're getting ("err : Initialize storage environment failed.") It could be simply a corrupted DB, simple solution for that would be to delete all the DB files (back them up first) just to see if that changes anything. The daemon will create a new (and empty) DB the next time it starts. Other than that, the only thing I can think of would be, that the HDD is failing (or is about to fail)...Quote:

Each time, I get permission problems. Tried to uninstall Vbox and reinstall with no change.
Tried to use it on VMWare with the same errors.
Would it have the same effect if u transfered the files onto the vm..... I know I would probably have to mess around with the permissions.....and file settings and seing as the files will already be there the installation probably wont work(just a geuss).
Ive used this package in the past without a problem, Will keep trying and post back if I can manage to figure it out.
Update is coming within the next few weeks. If the hash's match there's nothing wrong with them then anyway. I don't know what to tell you. It's worked for thousands of other people :(:

No, the end of the filenames are numbers because it's a split archive (.001, .002 and .003). you're not trying to 'merge' them are you? I've seen people say something about 'merging' them to extract them, and that is absolutely not necessary (and I'm guessing may actually break the archive if tried).
no im not 'merging' lol i just right click one file go to 7z then open archive and it says unspecified error... idk ill try downloading them again today and see if anything will change
The same thing happend with the server files the other day....... It wouldnt mount due to it being a corrupt iso..... Maby same sort of thing anyway a cpl weeks till update is being released then all will be fixed.....

Of course the downside is if people only leech and not seed, well it will eventually DIE. And well, I guess that's not really my problem <.< Maybe I'll put the smaller files on 4shared too...? Then I wouldn't have the client(s) on 4shared because #1) they'd be too big, and I'm getting sick and tired of splitting the files for places like 4shared [or every time when I'm 'building' them])... So maybe I'll have the client(s) torrent only, and the servers on the torrent AND 4shared? IDK Maybe I'll just do torrent only all the way around, and leave this old release available on 4shared...
So at this point, I need any volunteers that have high speed servers/seed box's or anyone that could web seed or whatever to contact me (respond in a post here then I'll PM you [my PMs are turned off for incoming new messages]) if interested in helping me get a torrent for the pending release going.

Id be willing to help seed from both my house and office...
Upgraded my net connection will be running upload speeds of 30mb/s as of next friday
and the office has upload speeds of 60mb/s...
Let me know and ill seed at least a month from both locations
