Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
SUPRA, we were wrong about the server updates bro, it does updated by 343 :)
I have checked my MD5,MD4,SHA-1 and CRC32 with this program called HashCalc.exe and the old server_root.iso and PW_Client.iso is different from the new one :) I am going to reinstall the server files and DL the client again lol.
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
I wonder what's wrong but I still can't connect to web to make an account.... I already changed 10.0.0.51 to my IP which is 112.202.xxx.xx. Should I also change the network setting of vbox from NAT to "Host-only adapter"? If yes, should I also change the mac address? Please check my SSs attached. TIA

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Localhost should be 127.0.0.1
You don't want to use host only unless u plan on running the client on the same machine as the server and no one else is going to use the server.
You do not need to changed the mac address.
I have not used nat before with vbox so I don't know how well it works. I tend to use bridged mode.
Have you checked your interfaces and made sure you have the correct settings?
Code:
nano /etc/network/interfaces
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
I have changed the localhost to 127.0.0.1 and vbox network to "bridged-adpater". However, I still can't connect to my ip 112.202.1xx.xx when I type in firefox browser to make an account. I posted new screenshots of my settings for perusal. Thanks for bearing with me. ^^ I'm really new to vbox and ubuntu. ^__^
P.S. By the way, should PW_Client.iso be mounted on vbox also???

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
The host only adapter and settings aren't needed at all.
Everything looks ok as far as I can tell.
On your windows machine that you are running vbox on open a command prompt and type
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
on Windows? You mean this one -> ? http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/5/...2/ipconfig.JPG
Should I mount PW_Client.iso on vbox? or use the command mount /dev/cdrom /cdrom?

no lol all you need to do is extract that PW_client.iso to play on your desktop windows.. it's a client man.
and there's a lot of reasons why you can't registers an account nor start your server because your router and firewall blocks the ports :) open all ports you would be fine.

hahaha! The client works! I just can't make an account, that's the only problem now. My firewall is "Comodo" and it's disabled now but still can't make an account. I am trying to test/play on the same laptop that I installed the server via vbox. Is there a direct way to make an account without having to do it in a browser? This is making me nuts :*:
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
K here is what I think the problem is.
I think that the 112.202.X.X IP address that you are using and which is also on the router page is your external IP. You want to be using a local IP for the server.
From the ipconfig I asked you do which of those is the connected to your router? My guess is that its the 192.168.1.X IP. So your settings should be based around that IP as its an local IP.
What ip is in your serverlist.txt in the client that makes it work?
Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know how your network is actually setup nor have I used a Linksys router.
If all else fails you can use Host-Only mode since you are planning on running the client and server on the same machine. However only you will be able to play. Disable dhcp on the host only adapter and set the IP to anything but the 343's server IP but it must be on the same network range. ie 10.0.X.X Set the subnet mask to what 343 has and leave all the other ips as 343's default then it should work.
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
I think you're right! That one was an external ip I also noticed that I have 2 IPs when norton gave me a warning that some site is trying to attack my IP which is 192.168.X IP. I recorded a video so that you could see all my settings. I hope, this time, with your big help, I could make it work. My noobness is being seen all over the world already. lol.

Yes indeed! 192.168.1.x is the one connected to my browser.
The ip in my serverlist.txt in the client is:
Code:
Land of Biting (PvP) 29000:10.0.0.51 1

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Everything is fine up to the interfaces.
Try these settings for the interfaces
IP 10.0.0.52
Netmask 255.255.0.0
network 10.0.0.0
Broadcast 10.0.0.255
Gateway 10.0.0.1
dns 10.0.0.1
They are not the same as 343's but they should work. Also the host-only adapter IP must not be the same as the server IP. Try 10.0.0.1
However now that you know what ip to use you can do the following instead of host only.
1 - Set the adapter back to bridged mode.
2 - Change the ips (except 127.0.0.1) to 192.168.1.X (Where X is any unused IP) eg 192.168.1.10
3 - Change the IP in config.php to 192.168.1.X
4 - Change the ip in index.jsp to 192.168.1.X
5 - Change interfaces to
Code:
Ip 192.168.1.X
Netmask 255.255.255.0
Network 192.168.1.0
Broadcast 192.168.1.255
Gateway 192.168.1.1
dns 192.168.1.1
6 - Change the IP in serverlist.txt to 192.168.1.X (Remeber to use TABs not spaces)
Now you should be all good to go for playing in your local network.
If you do wish to play with friends over the internet then on your "Applications and Gaming" page on your router add the following ports.
- 29000 (for the game itself)
- 80 (for the the website)
- 8080 (for extended website)

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
ok i get this question alot and depending on your router and gateway you sometimes need to change /etc/resolv.conf or /etc/network/resolv.conf cant remember which folder but ya you have to change it to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 whatever your router gateway is.
and john i know his releases are updated thats why he updates them each month... so where were we wrong?
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
oh crap! i thought we were missed understanding that the server was packaged and no updates lol.. well now all cleared out:)
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
