Well thank you for invoking/inducing my insomnia (no JK it's really not your fault) but, I went to do a lil testing and even 136 isn't working for me RN
So, knowing full well that too once worked, I wonder if it isn't something (somehow) related to newer version of Ubuntu? That doesn't even make sense even to myself RN but then again I am sleep deprived at this point >.>

well in the meantime, for manual or scripting use you could use something like the following to stop authd:
kill -9 $(ps aux | grep "./authd" | grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}')
same exact thing/concept for maps
kill -9 $(ps aux | grep "./gs is02" | grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}')
where obviously is02 equals the instance you want stopped
- - - Updated - - -
That's how I "manually" stop stuff
- - - Updated - - -
You could get even a little fancier and "borrow" this, this is a small script I just tossed together that literally stops either ALL maps, OR any single specified map (one at a time):
Code:
#!/bin/sh
case "$1" in
*s**)
kill -9 $(ps aux | grep -v grep | grep "[.]/gs $1" | awk '{print $2}')
;;
*)
clear
echo ""
echo "Would you like to stop ALL maps?"
echo "y/N"
echo ""
read -s -n 1 confirmall
case $confirmall in
n|N)
clear
echo ""
echo "NO maps were stopped..!"
echo ""
;;
y|Y)
kill -9 $(ps aux | grep -v grep | grep "[.]/gs $1" | awk '{print $2}')
clear
echo ""
echo "ALL maps have been stopped..!"
echo ""
exit 1
esac
exit 0
exit 1
esac
exit 0
- - - Updated - - -
Oh and I even threw in the "failsafe"
that is, it "checks" if you actually WANNA stop ALL maps if you just run the script with no "command line arguments"... Then you have to hit either Y or N to stop ALL
otherwise you could run like ./script is02
and it would stop ONLY is02
- - - Updated - - -
also, more specifically to you, I know you may be skeptical of getting her on a terminal already, and I would agree with probably not trying to overload her with having to actually manually do so much (ps aux grep kill pkill n all this shit may be a bit of an overload)... But I would think if you tossed that script together, that could be a great way to start learning terminal; by running scripts you've made (or borrowed)...
Then you know that's going to lead to "how to make scripts"!
But yea, kids minds are sponges - the earlier the better!!!
But I would think that may work out for you two as well, just tell her "ok, if you want/need to stop a map you type './stopmap is##' to stop that map" :D: (and ofc there's nothing wrong with using pwAdmin to get the numbers/list!) And like I said ./script (presumably something like stopmap or stopmap.sh [I'd personally actually just go with stopmap]) ran without something like <script> is02 - will presume to kill all maps, BUT ask/confirm FIRST!
LMK
I would also think, you could even modify pwAdmin to "call" this instead of whatever method it is currently using !
- - - Updated - - -
at this point I am trying to think about if/how I'm going to handle this for the release because, this could be ALL versions, and rebuilding ALL versions is going to give me a migraine - IF I even actually get the time to do it any time soon :(:
- - - Updated - - -
Oh and just in case you didn't know, you could also put a script like that in /usr/local/bin
Then you can skip the preceding ./ when launching it, AND it can be run from anywhere (while in any directory)...!
thanks for the script , it would be a great help
i actually did just that, less fancy though.
for the march release 2021 making her power on the machine letting it boot then her going to a browser starting the pw server letting her choose maps
for v1.5.5 its is61 and is69
for stopping a map, i tell her to go to the terminal and type in pkill -f ' is## '
## = map number as listed on the pwadmin site
then hit refresh on the browser to confirm the map stopped
then for stopping the server i let her click on stop in pwadmin then for audth same command inside terminal
pkill -f ' authd '
hitting refresh again for stopage confirmation
doing this she could restart the server and or just restart or choose other maps again in pwadmin without running out of ram
i told her dont worry about messing anything up at first, the server is there play with it
thanks for the tips, im still trying and looking into all the server versions in mar 2021 release and compare to an older release

that might be a good solution not diving into everything again and just modify the "call" if everyone would not find something else, not rebuilding the whole release. coz the pkill works and the authd and maps responds to shutting down manually and turning back on via pwadmin maybe patch server side or a small update file
.. about the newer version of ubuntu, as cause the 2014 release used 12.04.3 but just up to v1.5.1 if i remember correctly. i doubt its ubuntu might be just whats inside .jsp or the dated code but ive tried using older browsers on win xp (ie 6 - 11, chrome, firefox)and windows 7 for the pwadmin march 2021 release, same result just letting you know about my experiments.
i edited something to my pwadmin .jsp files i just cant post it atm according to forum rules
which stopped all servers including authd within pwadmin replcing -9 switch to -f in pkill

Figured it out, there must be a security rule against what I'm trying to post even wrapped in [code] tags it will not let me (must think I'm trying to inject/attack) LOL

Yea if you literally change the way it "kills" authd to:
R u n t i m e . g e t R u n t i m e ( ) . e x e c ( " p k i l l - 9 - f / a u t h d / " ) ;
it will for sure kill authd!
I already did that no problemos - STILL cannot figure out why it will not stop individual maps though >.< And I also just realized/remembered that I don't even personally have any Ubuntu machines or VMs any more (I personally am using RHEL now), so I will have to install another Ubuntu VM - just to make sure there's also not differences between the two OS's... That being said the release is always gonna be Ubuntu (but I suppose it's a nice time to reiterate "you can put it on anything if you 'know what you're doing' " LOL
Everything else, when and if I get everything satisfactory I will have NO choice but to rebuild the whole release... It's not my "style" (for this anyway) to do "patches" or even just have this info "out there" on how to "fix yourself"... The whole point of this release is to be new user friendly, and facilitate someone who pretty much knows absolutely nothing, to get a PW server up and running... So that they can tinker and learn! So if I get things done satisfactorily I will have no choice but to completely rebuild the server ISO...
All that being said, I am thinking last leak or not, this may very well be my last huge "hoorah" - and I was even thinking of releasing a TANGIBLE / PHYSICAL copy of this... I just don't think very many people would be interested (because it would not be cheap) especially since the download has been, is, and will always be FREE... But in the event there is demand, it may be one day available! I am already designing physical disc "art" because if not anything else, I am * definitely * making myself a "physical set"!
So, if I DO decide (and get the opportunity) to actually do that, everything will need to be "kosher" before I do! Sure, it doesn't need to be absolutely "perfect", heck it's not like it is a "perfect world" or something ROFLMFAO - but no, I mean like actual game stuff like if there's any broken quests etc... It's like sorry (not sorry) I just want to make sure the ultimate "base" of the server/game/client are all working... Now having some problems (like this) with pwAdmin, I just don't think would be a good idea to leave "broken" like this, either for downloaders, or if we ever get to a physical disc set "stage"!
So if I get the chance, I will fix it; then I will completely rebuild the server ISO, then re-release that again ofc! Only thing is, I cannot assure ANY type of time-frame on this because I'm (as already mentioned) about to be getting super busy! But in the "ultimate end" I basically need an "archive grade" release here! Which I apparently do not have right now, but will hopefully have soon™ whether it be tomorrow, or another year from now... That being said, I'll point out that, at least one of the things done in, my most recent pw_dev.iso update was to include some things that may be necessary or desired in the FAR FAR FAR away future, with FULL posterity in mind (things like DOT NET, and visual C++ redistributables, and Java)... Basically, I would like a "finalized 'product' " that, if someone "happens" across it 1,000 years from now, they'll STILL be able to make it work (one way or another)!

Well, now that the weather is (finally) nice by me, my (actual) work, workload, is going to increase TEN fold (if not more)!... First disclaimer I actually don't know JS for squat (any time I've fixed anything in pwAdmin has been sheer determination and a metric shit ton of google)... But anyway, all this being said, I took another brief look at it just now. I changed the part that actually kills the maps from:
R u n t i m e . g e t R u n t i m e ( ) . e x e c ( " k i l l " + m a p s [ i ] ) ;
To:
S t r i n g [ ] m a p k i l l = { " p k i l l " , " - 9 " , " - f " , " [ . ] / g s i s 0 2 " } ;
R u n t i m e . g e t R u n t i m e ( ) . e x e c ( m a p k i l l ) ;
Just to assure that the actual functionality of, as you can see above, directly kill ONE specific map (regardless of whatever was selected). No matter what is selected that should kill is02... And it does... So, working backwards, I can only presume the reason it's not 'actually' working is either something wrong with it obtaining the PID, and/or something wrong with it getting some needed info from the actual map list portion...
I have run out of any "free time" and must be off to bed RN! But if you happen to find a resolution - be sure to let me know that too! But yea, when I am able to start digging again, next point of attack will be trying to figure out if/how/why it's not getting the right info about the PID(s) to kill and/or which map is selected in the list!
- - - Updated - - -
and really, if I figure it all out, I think I'd actually rather have it kill by the "map name" (ex is02) rather than PID - which IIRC is the variable: maps[i][1] er maps[1] (but RN that's confusing me because the kill part just calls maps[i]) =\ Oh well, later :):

i will go ahead and point out that if anyone is using the gui on ubuntu 20, i don't suggest using pkill -9, it tends to make the gui crash, thats why when using wrechid's server management script i had to replace all the pkill -9s with killall, not sure which ones were killing the gui, i know pkill -9 gs works every time for crashing it

on a server where other people are connecting and playing i wouldn't even have one installed, but on my VM server it's kinda nice to have it

Wow. Today I think 12.04 LTS just 'lost' apt-get. I was putting samba on a new test server and couldn't find the package samba or samba common.
Couldn't find anything in the mirrors either.
Logging in reports that 0 packages are available for update. Not that I was doing an update, but it seemed to back up my thinking.
Anyone else found this? Or am i going mad at last?

Considering how many years it's been since support for that version ended it's unsurprising. If you want to be able to get the packages you need I suggest upgrading to a supported version like 18.04 or 20.04

Yep. Seems the only way I am gonna get a smb2 samba. Either that or simply clone an existing vm I have.....
I mentioned this mainly for 343's benefit. He's been threatening to update his package with CentOS or a later Ubuntu for some time now :)

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Remote acess to admin?
If it's not a apache-tomcat6 issue and more of a networky thing, then I hope this is helpful (your question didn't indicate how much you know or tried):
Find your server's local ip address. Use the ifconfig command to find it. Assuming it's 10.0.0.19 for the sake of discussion:
The local admin console would be on http://10.0.0.19:8080/pwAdmin/
Then you would need to redirect anything incoming on port 8080 on your modem/router to 10.0.0.19.
Every router has its own way to do that.
For remote access, you need to know your public ip address. Do a google search for whatsmyip
Assuming it's 1.2.3.4
Then the remote url would be http://1.2.3.4:8080/pwAdmin/
That assumes you don't have any port security on your server that would stop a simple redirection. And I cannot personally verify that opening that up to the internet would be secure.
P.S.
Part of 343's setup script ask you for your remote ip address. I trust you put that in when setting up the server. (and it hasn't changed!)

Package Tinkerings
Well, I've been tinkering with the v155 part of this package from 343 and been having a good time getting all the tools to work again after so long away from pwi.
I was totally astonished at how easy it has become to get a v155 client and server working. 343 you have assembled a wonderfully easy system. Well done.
Now 343 is more of a v136 guy, I've assumed you haven't messed around with v155 a great deal.
I do remember you don't tend to like the boutique/gshop concept. I can also assume that the person(s) who did the hard work getting 155 to work isn't a great big fan of lucidsilver, gshop, questmaster, quizmaster, housing (well that I could find), or the treasure button. Yep, they aren't activated in the March 2021 release. And I totally understand why someone would do that. The game is unbalanced enough without those.....
Anyways, for personal re-education, I've got everything to work again except for that darned 'treasures' button below the minimap. I actually don't know where to look. Rummaging through tasks and elements files hasn't been fruitful so far. Anyone got any thoughts? Clicking the button does apparently nothing.

on newer distros the package providing ifconfig may not exist as it's been depracated, it's generally recommended to use 'ip addr' without the quotes instead.

not sure if any of it has been fixed on the latest version or not but some of the npc spawn controllers were disabled in gamed/config/world/npcgen.data not sure how many, but on my copy of 1.5.5 i had to go in and enable the ones for Inventory Master and Perfect QuestMaster. Hopefully this info helps

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Milos,
Yes 'ip addr' also works in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I mentioned 'ifconfig' from habit. Everything seems to be deprecated these days.....
Also as mentioned, I got all the missing npcs working. I did forget to mention Inventory master. Quite a few were turned off! Archosaur looked empty.
I can't yet get a clue about the treasures button. So far that's my only unresolved problem with the 155 package.

would you mind giving a list off all the ones you had to turn on? i'm new to PW so i likely have many missing and don't know it.
thanks

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
All I did was walk around the 153 game and compare the npcs to a fresh 155 server. That doesn't imply that they are meant to be there.
So far the list is:
lucidsilver, lucidgold, questmaster, trivia, housing, inventory master.
Go into the elements.data file and do a search for:
* lucid - you will find silver and gold agents and envoys. 3 in total.
* perfect questmaster
* trivia (luna and yuna)
* inventory master
Once again, I suspect these all mess with game balance.
In case anyone reading this needs a bit more detail:
Taking inventory master as an example:
* Use sELedit++ and note the id of the inventory master - 23256 (when you do a search, the right window won't be updated. Use up/down arrows to get the correct data.)
* Go into /PWServer/155/gamed/config/world and get the npcgen.data file and get it onto your windows pc.
* Open the file using Npcgen Editor v1.5 from Luka and select English from the Options tab.
* Search for the id 23256 and look at the data. Note the trigger 1520
* Go to the triggers tab and look at id 1520
* Tick the box 'start automatically'
* Save and copy the file back to the server.
* Set the file permissions using:
chown root npcgen.data
chgrp root npcgen.data
chmod 555 npcgen.data
Starting the server, you should find the npc in Archosaur again.
gshop and housing is another story.
For the gshop I used the files from the topic "155 client downgraded and translated" as a starting point. (many many thanks to wretchid for the files). Luka's gshop editor (again many thanks to Luka. We couldn't get 155 working without these editors) allows you to copy entire blocks from one file to another. Quirky to use, but it does work as long as you set the timestamp on all 3 gshop files. Also save the 3 gsghop.sev files and copy those back to the server, the gshop files to the client. Set the file permissions (as above) on the server for all 3 gshopsev*.data files.
For housing, I looked into the elements.data file from wrechid's client and found that the simplest way to do it was to add the housing quests to "Vyn Yen, the Warrior". (155 and 159 do it differently.) Look at id 50404 and add entry 35284 to the list. Then go to tasks.data and update task 35284 using wrechid's files as a template. That's a simplistic outline, not detail. I've still got an issue whereby the game insists on demon/sage levels of cultivation to go back into the house. That's prob the way 155 did it.
Hope that helps. This is not meant to be a detailed tutorial, but might provide some help if anyone needs it.

http://1.2.3.4:8080/pwAdmin/
That assumes you don't have any port security on your server that would stop a simple redirection. And I cannot personally verify that opening that up to the internet would be secure.
P.S.
Part of 343's setup script ask you for your remote ip address. I trust you put that in when setting up the server. (and it hasn't changed!)
remote access to pwAdmin is BLOCKED by default to ANY machine NOT on the LAN by tomcat via a valve in context xml
This is so "account services" (from the user website) work, such as "get gold" or "guild icon", but nobody can use or "hack" pwAdmin remotely! (so you still need proper port forwarding for those to work!)
Unless you're setting up ONE (or a few) SPECIFIC IP addresses to allow, I would urge AGAINST allowing ALL external access! There are better ways to go about allowing yourself "access" from "anywhere" (any IP)... My first personal choice would be a properly set up VPN! My next choice would be a "makeshift" VPN, like setting up another machine on the network that runs something like VNC (or *bleh* hamachi *bleh*), connect to that, then use THAT to connect to pwAdmin (since pwAdmin is restricted to LAN access). My next choice would be a properly set up, configured, and secured SSH...!

I mentioned this mainly for 343's benefit. He's been threatening to update his package with CentOS or a later Ubuntu for some time now :)
Actually, quite the opposite... I've always maintained that the release will stay on Ubuntu due to it's new user friendliness (but yes, I have mentioned how I now run PW servers on RHEL/CentOS)... I've also maintained that the release "must" stick on Ubuntu 12.04 (was 12.04.3) because it is a package that can be installed with absolutely no external dependencies (the main thing being that this package will perform an 'offline install' of ia32-libs for 12.04)... I also maintain that anyone that "knows what they're doing" can install this on any flavor or version of Linux (on their own) :): I have heard "ravings" about RHEL/CentOS (specifically version 7) being "the best" to run this on, so that is what I now personally use! But again, the release will always be Ubuntu for it's new user friendliness! It will also always be 12.04 so that anyone can get it "up and running" with ZERO external dependencies
Now that the weather by me is nice, my "real job" / workload has increased TEN fold, but I will be pushing out one more update to fix a few issues with pwAdmin (as recently discussed in thread), followed by a torrent! But with said workload increase, not too positive when it'll be available... I am going to try to take tonight off to just get it knocked out, but I cannot make any promises...! But I do hope to, because by next week I will likely be working 7 day weeks!
As to your actual (samba) query, cannot say I'm even personally familiar with it, as in, never used it before myself... I'm pretty sure it will be just as 'dated' as 12.04 itself, but I could have sworn there is an option to install "samba server" (as in it is) packaged with Ubuntu 12.04 ~ during the "optional" "stuff" setup toward the end (when you can also install the bundled SSH) (at 08:12 in my installation video) Attachment 169752 Or is that too "outdated" for you, or maybe even talking about something entirely different ???
At any rate, I have to get off the forum so I can focus 100% of my attention to pushing out this update for pwAdmin "fixes"! At least until I either get it done or have to go into work..!

Ah, I got that wrong. Fair call. It's what you get when you don't carefully read.

Yes, I did try selecting Samba during the setup. However, it was a version prior to allowing
"protocol = SMB2" in the [global] section. I just couldn't get Windows 10 to connect to it.
An apt-get used to install a later version which did work.
The reason for SMB2 protocol? Windows 10 just won't connect to anything using SMB1 without a registry hack.
I just got so used to using samba that I haven't looked at other options.

Ah, kk, still not too sure what that actually "does"; if you're looking for the functionality of being able to connect to the linux server from a windows machine to transfer files back/forth, many of us "around here" use SSH server on the Linux side (as shown by that screenshot, I make sure to select to install the (optional) OpenSSH server... Then you can connect from your windows machine using something along the lines of WinSCP or FileZilla (for two examples)... :):
Also, you/we could check other repositories I'm sure... You don't "HAVE" to install through apt-get, as long as you can find the .DEB you can just directly install the DEB...! What is the "package name" I will try en find the DEB for ya

"samba" and "samba-common" v3.6.25 is what apt-get used to find. It works with Windows 10.
I don't need it personally now because I just clone an existing vm for my test servers. However, if you kindly do all the hard work finding it, I will gladly try it out!
'Around here' it was Windows C# developers. I just think in common protocols so NetBios/NetBeui was just natural for me. Linux is the strange world for some.

Well I understand you may not "need" it right this very second... But I suppose I like to think quite long term... What if there's an accidental deletion, or the machine/VM/HDD or whatever takes a poop? Would be nice to have a DEB archived/backed up (kinda like how I have ia32-libs "slip-streamed" WITH the package)!
It looks like the one on the disc is 3.6.3
https://forum.ragezone.com/attachmen...6&d=1622645740
Maybe this link could be of some help, so you can get those DEBs backed up/archived:

It looks like they have from 3.0.7 ~through~ 4.10.7 in there..!

~~add~~
Release/package links are down for new UL's
Hopefully everything finishes ULing before I have to go to work..!
else {
it may be a while until they're updated
}
SAE server ISO is getting updated for pwAdmin fixes, pw_DEV is getting updated for more stuff added, and some redundant crap removed!
Also, SAE server ISO is "losing" v151 and v153, these will remain available, but now as separate downloads... The main Special Anniversary Edition will include base 136, 131, 155, and 146 (and that toss in FW)... I noticed the SAE server ISO would have required a DL DVD for anyone who may actually want to burn, so I pulled 151 and 153 out so that it would fit on a SL DVD blank! PW_DEV has grown (thanks to adding some of the source leak/stuff) to now require a DL DVD..! Client(s), GL, I hope you have a BRD burner LOL..!
Will update the links as soon as the UL's are done ~ unless of course I am at work, then I will update as soon as feasibly possible..!
- - - Updated - - -
Alright, all the new server(s) have been uploaded and links available (SAE, 151, and 153)
I will be uploading the new PW_DEV.iso while I sleep! Hopefully it will be done by the time I wake and leave for work so I can update those links (if not it'll have to wait until I get home from work)!

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Does anyone know how the buttons on the client are controlled by the server?
For example in v155 the "Enter the Homestead" button has a cultivation and level condition on it. Is this controlled in a .data file on the server?
Also the "Treasures" button under the minimap, except in this case it doesn't do anything.
I have only had success opening .data files for Tasks, Npcgen, Elements, and Gshop. Haven't seen an v155 editor for others that I can get working.
I mention this in this thread 'cos it's got the files I am working on.

1: this is controlled directly by the gs, and as we have no source you can not change this
2: there are tools for a fair bit of these files in 1.3.6 tools, as they have never changed. For anything else, the file structures are available in the source code release, and you can create your own tools

Thanks for that.
Looks like the way to get back to the homestead is to create a quest to teleport back to the homestead.......
Nope that doesn't work either. There is no task option to locate your homestead, only create one.

you use the same button in the menu to enter it each time

Yeah, sorry I was ambiguous. I know what that button does - to get to your homestead in 155 you need level 95, reputation 35000 and cultivation sage/demon.
In an effort to make it more like 159 I was trying to get around that hard coded set of conditions to bring it back to level 70.
All I have actually managed to do was to move the build a homestead quest to Vyn Yen the Warrior and set a min level of 95 on it. There was no point in creating a homestead at level 70 if you couldn't get back to it for ages.
Your information about it being hard coded into the gs makes this the end of the road for this little project. Thanks for your help.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
I'm sure this has been asked a million times... Does anyone know what gshop editor works with 155 server, because all that i have tried makes client files fine but none of server side ones work.
@343 tried your solution with pwadmin btw and it had no effect, still get forbidden outside lan.

what is your save procedure for the files (I am guessing i am doing it wrong)

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Two different save buttons, one saves gshop.data (client), other saves gshopsev.data (server)...
You should make a copy of each, each time that you make any changes so that they both share the same timestamp...

The most common cause is an item being sold in stacks higher than the amount set in elements.data
But as Wrechid said start the gs and when it crashes check the logs.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
i ran 343's release on ubuntu 12 ( the one that 343 provived) everything is working fine, now that i want to install it on ubuntu 20, the install-pw script threw "MUST be installed on ubuntu 12" error, i dug abit into the install script and disabled the verison check (!= → ==) , also tried with "--force" option but both did not work and $PATH became empty (every command except for the built-in ones with OS became unavailable), then OS won't load after reboot/log of due to the same reason.
i'v seen PATH being set just once but in a crontab file, not sure if that matters.
someone can lead me and tell me what did i do wrong?
since this release was meant to be internet dependent and should work with no external resources, what are the requirements to set this on a newer OS?
thanks in advance:thumbup:

I had that issue ALL THE TIME when I first started messing with my server.
Turned out to the be the #1 reason on that "Helping Hand" thread.
The utility I was using to transfer files to the server was changing the CHMOD (?) attributes of the file, and it crashed the main map every time.
I just got into the habit of copying the files, then manually checking/resetting the attributes each time.
This also goes to manually editing the game files outside of the server and copying them back over. Check the attributes!!!

I never found a solution. What I ended up doing is spawning TT bosses in arch because char is a GM, you can hit ctrl-G and pick "create monster" and look up the appropriate monster ID from pwdatabase.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Yeah, it looks like the client downloads hosted at Mega are down at the moment.
I'm hosting them as well, and I've sent 343 a message to update the post to include the .torrent file I created for all of the files.
(There's also a web-seed, so they are all always available.)
The server file for 1.4.6 is included in the server file called, "pw-SAE-servers_18.MAR.2021-ubuntu12.04_amd64.iso" which is still working on both of the provided links. (Mega and Gdrive)
Hope that helps!

Well you know, all of them! Starting with the base game and all the updates... none of them are working. This is my first time trying to install so I would have liked to have a play around to find which version I like best, but without the files I'm kinda stumped. I guess to start with I need at the very least v136??
I'll just say, v136 and v155 are the files I'm after :)

Here is the .torrent file for 343's Complete 10th Anniversary Release.
I've messaged him as well, so once he's back online he can update the original post with the link, or host it himself.
This torrent only has 2 seeders, but also has a complete web-seed, so it's always available.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Thanks!
I do seem to have run into a problem (I know... so soon...)
After installing the server and client for the base game (v136) but when I try to go to http://my.server.ip.address it gives me a 'this site cannot be reached, refused to connect' error.
I've double checked my installation process and I don't think I missed anything compared to the tutorial video on the 1st post.
I've also tried disabling my firewall and going through /root/ to see if there is a file to start the server, but I couldn't find one.
Could this be a port issue? I'm pretty out of my depth here :(:
Sorry if this has already been asked, I can't search the thread for some reason...

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Are you running the server on bare metal or as a virtual machine?
It sounds like a network configuration issue to me, but without seeing/knowing your setup, it's hard to determine what could be causing that.
Can you give us more information to help you out?

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Hey, thanks for replying!
I'm running it on VMware 15.
I followed the tutorial video on the first post quite closely. I have tried all the basic stuff- restarting router, clearing cookies, flushing DNS etc, but I still haven't the faintest idea why it's doing what it's doing.
I also tried to check if all the server stuff (eg. MySQL and Tomcat and the like) were running, and I think they were, but to be honest I am not good at this... at all...
Are there any logs I can provide? I'm not even sure what info is relevant.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Running your own server, (regardless of what it's doing,) requires a fairly in-depth knowledge of configuring the Virtual Host, basic networking knowledge, as well as Linux knowledge for this application.
I would venture a guess that your Virtual Host (VMWare) network settings aren't configured properly.
I also think there was a post sometime earlier this year about compatible versions of VMWare. I'm not 100% sure, though.
I personally use Microsoft Hyper-V, but that's only because I'm very familiar with using and configuring everything.
Long story short, you should be able to ping your server's IP address from your workstation with no issue as soon as the virtual machine is up and running. If you can't, there are a few possibilities.
1.) You set the server IP address improperly during installation of Linux / Perfect World server.
2.) Your VMWare network settings are not configured properly.
I hope that helps you start to investigate the issue. I can't help with the VMWare stuff, as I do not know it.
-SciTech76
-
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Hmm, the thing is, the ping is fine. It's unbelievably frustrating.
As for VMware, apparently 16+ don't work so I used 15, which should apparently work well.
Still no clue as to why it's not working, I will try on a different computer, or different internet, or both. If none of them work then... well... I guess I tried my best.
Thank you for your help!

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Hello, ping on the vw verify that you can communicate out to internet... Are you able to ping the vm from another pc or outside location, better yet can you connect to the vm using ssh...? Once you can verify communications both ways, verify that all of the server domains are running... Most of the servers here no matter which version will need some adjustments to get it working per each admin's setup...

I'm also not sure how to connect via ssh- would that involve having a linux based computer? Unfortunately I don't have that...

Edit: To everyone looking for client files, scitech76 has kindly provided a torrent file earlier on this page.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Wrechid is talking about pinging the VM from another pc.
You should be able to open a command prompt from any pc on that network and ping the IP address you assigned to the VM.
Example: If you assigned the IP address of 192.168.1.20 to the Virtual Machine when you were setting up Linux or Perfect World, then you should be able to ping that IP address from any machine on your internal network when the Virtual machine is running.
If you didn't assign an IP address to the virtual machine during linux setup, and your network router assigned an IP address automatically, (That's called DHCP,) then you need to find out what that IP address is.
At the Ubuntu console command line, login and type the following:
hostname -I
Then hit Enter. This will show the IP address assigned to your Virtual Machine.
That's also the IP address you need to tell the installer when you're installing Perfect World on the server.
Finally, go to any PC on the network and see if you can ping that IP address. If you can, open a web browser and navigate to that IP address.
You should see the 343's Perfect World Private home page.
Lastly, you'll need to edit the serverlist.txt file in your client.
That file is located at C:\whereeveryouinstalledthegame\patcher\server\serverlist.txt
343's release has that set for his internal testing and will not work on your server out of the box.
Change the IP address shown there to the IP address you got from your Linux terminal.
Do not change the port address, as the one shown works just fine.
Now you can create an account on that website you just visited, and then launch the game.
Let me know if that makes any sense.
If you need more networking help, I can try, but it would really help if you learned some basic networking really quickly.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Hi, thank you for your help.
Yes, that is exactly what I did. Pinging from another pc does seem to work. However connecting to that ip on a browser gives the same 'connection rejected' result. Is there any chance this is an internet issue? Maybe the internet connection blocks localhost or ip addresses on browser for every device connected? (I would try installing on another internet but we're in lockdown atm.)
I have already changed the server.txt file when I did the install.
I have rechecked the installation process multiple times (going off the vid and text instructions), so I would assume the ip setup is correct.
Basically, I've tried everything on the first 3 pages google brings up on this issue.
I have very scattered knowledge of networking, between setting up other game servers and yesterday's manic googling. I am not any sort of IT developer, I will never be. I am here because I love this game and I want a way to be sure I will always have access to it. I am willing to pay anyone who can help me get this to work.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
How is your VM Network adapter configured?
It should checked as Bridged and check the box below it to replicate the physical network connection state.
(You can get to these settings by Right-clicking on the Virtual Machine you created and then clicking on Settings.
The item you want to look at is called "network adapter"
Once you click on that area on the left of the window, look on the right hand side and check to make sure it's set to Bridged and the box is checked below it.
Other than that, I won't be able to help without knowing more about your setup.
Last thing I thought of: If your machine is getting auto-assigned an IP address, it might change each time you restart the VM.
(I just installed VMWare 15 and got everything running just fine for 136)
Just login as root and run that hostname -I command each time to get the current IP address.
Honestly, you should be able to ping the VM from the same windows machine you're running VMWare on, as well as access the Perfect World internal website from Chrome or FireFox, etc.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Yup, bridged checked. Physical network checked. IP has been same since I started installation two days ago. Tried four different browsers.
That's the most frustrating thing, I can't think of a single thing left to do. I guess it's just not to be.
Thank you.

I sent you a PM to help nail this down for you. Check your private messages, please.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
The contents are very good, you can truly see that there was a lot of dedication and a lot of work time. I just have one problem, the client links are down, and I only need clients 1.3.6 1.4.6 .. any client that is connectable to the server, because I've already turned on the server, only the client is missing =/

Here is the torrent with ALL files available. When you download it, just select the client you need. Enjoy!

Which Linux distro are you using...?

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Wrechid, it turned out to be an issue with VMWare Player defaulting to NAT'd network adapter. We dumped the VM, installed VMWare workstation, and got the networking fixed inside VMWare to be a bridged connection.
It boggles my mind that VMWare player defaults to a NAT'd connection, and not bridged.
However, we corrected that and got everything working 100% and he was able to login and play.

Here is the .torrent file for 343's Complete 10th Anniversary Release.
I've messaged him as well, so once he's back online he can update the original post with the link, or host it himself.
This torrent only has 2 seeders, but also has a complete web-seed, so it's always available.
Enjoy!

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Some of you can share your npcgen.data of the Warsong and Lunar caves containing the Attendance NPCs.
I've tried to locate the Vile Boss Summon NPCs and can't find the trigger.

Learn to work your way backwards. (I have NOT messed with PW in AGES, I'm been working with W2, when I work with these games at all)

I was able to find the npcgen.data files that contain the triggers, NPC's, etc from 343's 1.5.1 server version. Not sure why they were removed from 1.5.5 - It also places the proper forges back where they belonged.
I just copied them over the existing ones and restarted the maps. (Warsong and Lunar) and they appear to be working just fine.
(note: The Warsong Earth Boss has a glitch where not enough of the mobs spawn after it's killed each time. The AI is looking for a kill count of 6, but it only spawns 5. I just bumped that mob count from 1 to 2 in the npcgen.data file, and that resolved the issue. I think they were called something like quartz bonecrackers, or something like that. The mob ID is 24562)

you're seriously trying to make me do the work for you..
Look at Aipolicy and npcgen.data as well as tasks.data you will find everything you need to do to fix the issue you're having. Also, try a newer Aipolicy that can be read, you'll find more information there

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
So, I am very new to this and am trying to figure it out. I believe I have the server portion of it created, but the Client links are currently not working. Is there somewhere else I can get them? or will they be fixed soon?

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
I want to create a 1.4.6 server, so I believe I need both 1.3.6 and 1.4.6 client iso files.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
So, I have been looking t his this forum for a while now, sorry for asking about the client links when it has already been answered.
I am having some struggles now getting to the registration website. I get the VM working, I got the server installed, mounted the Client and now I am trying to use the IP address to get to the registration page. It says to check connection and check firewall.
I tried disabling the firewall and it didn't work. Then I thought I used the wrong IP while creating the VM and during the server creation portion so I restarted the process and it is still not working.
Anyone who is available to help would be GREATLY appreciated.
