I tried to use Parallels, but another message, saying that my system doesn't supports virtualization. So I'm trying VBox in Windows, but my only problem for now is the cdrom device, but the entire package is OK.
Editing: The error was mine, the device is connected when I turn on the machine lol
Re-edit: The machine never recognized the device... how I solved it? Simple, just copy & paste... so I could finally advance trying to mount my server :P
Re-re-edit: When I get to the step of installing xampp, lampp, etc., the system gave a message "Permission denied". How can you solve it? Easy. Just enter this in the terminal:
chmod u+x ./setup.sh
./setup.sh
Is almost the same if you try to run ./start.sh
PS: Sorry again for my bad english... and I'm a little bit noob using Ubuntu, but I'm trying to get better in both things :P

The log will be gamedbd.log in /PWServer/logs (if you use pwAdmin to start the server)

Ty 343 i do not know the correct command for terminal to access this log will try google when i get home from work, i can cd into this folder easy..i want to say about my db issues that both times this has happened, first time on vm was corruption of db and second time complete corruption was from tw after acquiring land (pretty sure was plain of farewells) each time 2 factions were involved.
First time i did notice bug where land owner name didnt show for a fa tion at first..then followed further corruption and finally dbd fail. Second time on physical machine immediately after we won plain...dbd fail permanently.
Why i write all this? So you know. I dont like being harbinger of bad news...and i was devastated when the dbd failed..i rlly think there might be tw bug...wondering also is this just an isolated case. Not to nag and not to complain..not to even ask for fix...just so you know. Ty for all your time and help.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
you can just nano the log. Although personally, I set the game files up to be viewable on the network and use textpad for looking through the logs. Depending on the available resolution of your server, you could also try using Putty to remote in. scrolling screen is a lot easier than using shift+pgup/down.
Also, for the earlier comment about using Desktop, you're going to want as much memory available to your PWServer as you can. Using the GUI desktop sucks up a bit of that memory and takes up extra CPU time that could be used elsewhere.
Real servers don't use desktops. I learned this the hard way.

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
does this client/server has tideborne race and genies?
how can create and add custom items or equipment?
-
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Up to now, we're still using the old server files (1.2.6) with some upgrades in items.
-
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
DO NOT ASK ABOUT 'new classes' HERE !

Why oh why do people continue to ask silly questions that could be answered in mere seconds with a quick search, or EVEN BY READING THE THREADS ON THE MAIN PAGE ABOUT 1.4.4
Anyway, to date, you are not going to get the new content, we are using the original 6 classes.
I'm not going to answer your question about custom items or equipment, it is another silly question answerable by either your brain or the search button.
I will however, give you a clue, pwtools.codeplex.com
DON'T ASK AGAIN

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
I need some help... I did everything as 343 explains, if something was missing, I found it watching the video or google (avoiding kitties's deaths), and I could run successful the server... but not pwAdmin or the game itself... i mean, i can run the pwAdmin, but that says "Error database connection"... I tried before with the hrace009 server and I could, but I'm more interested in the 343 server cause is more complete and I can do it the same way at a real machine, not virtualizing... so.. please help me T_T I tried to find the database, or the jsp with the function bind-server (or something like that, I don't fully remember at this moment) to change the ip of the server, but I didn't find it. Can anyone give a clue about what I'm doing wrong? I mean, I'm using Ubuntu Server 11.04 LTS and following every step, so, I don't have any idea where I made a mistake...
PS: And if who explain my mistake and helps me to solve it, explains it in Spanish, I'll give my first child his/her name (?)

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
ok first off grumble grumble
jk
Man you guys are frackin awesome for releasing this PW server / client combo
It was very difficult to locate but my wife loves PW and we dont feel cool with the state of the live version with bots hackers spammers ect...
So Rock on
Is the main page one the most current release of this compile i only ask because it is over 100 pages and thats really gruling to try to read through
And i run a wow server and an everquest server both with really good bots coded in as artificial players does this release by chance use any kind of server based bots ?
oh and pwtools.codeplex.org appears to be down

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
It depends on who you ask I guess LOL, but seriously this is the most up to date (for what we have, yes)...
That being said, no, it is NOT current (with the 'official' game) {it is not 1.4.4}... The version we have and have been using for quite some time now is not a server emulator like most other games -- it is a leak of the official server files, and is version 1.2.6/1.3.6 from what I/we know... Well, the server itself is/was 1.2.6 but we can use up to either PW_MY 1.3.1 or PW_CN 1.3.6 client
Also, no we do not have any 'bots' as you describe ("artificial players") for this or any other PW release...

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
hehe its cool maybe ill find a way to add multiple pets or somethin later for raiding since itll be only 3 people on server
I just say all ovet talk of linux for most the servers but i also see some win binaries I just started the download and i suspect it will take along time for me to get does your release use windows or linux? using the main release of server client and dev or will i need to install a VM and run a linux box?
as for me asking if this was most up to date i meant the links for your specific release is page one top post always kept current with Your release or would i have to sort through 100 pages to find updates to the release?
-
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
I don't think you will be able to add multiple pets too easily.
The Perfect World Servers are compiled for Linux only so you can only run the server files in a Linux environment. You can however run them in a virtual machine which is what a lot of people do.
The client is Windows however.
Yes the links on the first page are the most recent version of this release.
-
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Correct, the server itself is linux only; the client is windows, and most if not all the tools (PW_DEV.iso) are windows too...
-
Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
darn lol i was hoping to avoid linux its always been to difficult for me to ever use
But i think i can manage with a vm with ubuntu i hear its able to run out of the box fo most part and i get the basics of it to get basic stuff going im not sure how well ill understand doing the PW but ill try ty for the answers again the fact you guys are even doing this is a credit to the human race
Is there by chance a compatible precompiled windows based server that i can slip in and still use th DB and all other server peices if not its cool
I have a minor form of dyslexia and some other problems that well make things like programming a near impossibility for me i can understand some but the more there is to dig through the less i am able to understand what i am looking at thank you guys again i hope that you guys can continue to keep his up unharassed by others in communities that want to simply profit soly off work like yours and by the gaming companies

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
My suggestion would be to use VMware like I do for my 'test' / 'build' server... I made this release in ISO's on purpose so that they could be used in any which way people want. Being an ISO you can burn it to physical media to use for an installation on a physical machine. Of course ISO's can also be mounted in most VM applications including VMware... (not to mention tools such as daemon tools, granted daemon tools isn't for Linux)... Or programs (such as the one I used to create the ISO's) PowerISO... I certainly felt ISO was the best choice since they're rather versatile :D:
One thing that I cannot stress enough is DO NOT USE DESKTOP EDITION, make sure you use SERVER edition! Because first of all, even if you 'do not know linux' you're never going to learn anything if you use a 'gui' not to mention GUI is NOT meant for SERVERS (consumes and wastes too many system resources that should be used by/saved for server processes)... I have a link to the proper server editions to use, I personally recommend to always use an LTS release if going with Ubuntu... Also I would highly recommend Ubuntu to a beginner as it is a pretty solid release... I also recommend (as long as you're not using an ancient PC) to use 64-bit...
As I said earlier the server is not an emulator, it's a 'leak' of the official server files -- so the ONLY OS it will run on is Linux, there will never be a Windows server for PW... The closest you can get is running your Linux PW server in a VM (using windows as your host OS)... So, I hate to crush any hopes or 'dreams' you may have had of ever seeing this server ever run natively on Windows, but it simply is NOT going to happen (ever)... Plus, windows is just not stable which is why most 'real' servers run on Linux/Unix, since they ARE stable... (Microshaft Windblowz Server [edition] is just a joke!)...
If you download everything and then follow the instructions and the video in post number 2 you should be alright. Be warned, the video is a little dated; so follow the written instructions closer than the video. Mainly I changed around a few config files, some of which aren't even in the video (because I added them after the video was created, such as this one: /opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/2/webapps/pwAdmin/WEB-INF/.userconfig.jsp) So just remember to use the video as basic guidance and stick like glue to the written instructions  But yea, as the video shows it's mainly an automated process (for the most part) and you can go from a completely empty HDD to a full up and running PW server in about 20 minutes :):

Re: ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
Ok, well just in case he is not, I will state it one more time HERE (even though it's not really on topic):
YOU NEVER WANT TO USE MORE THAN A 1:1 RATIO OF PHYSICAL RAM TO SWAP - EVER
IE... if you have 2GB of PHYSICAL RAM,, you NEVER WANT MORE THAN 2GB OF SWAP - EVER
PERIOD
This is NOT a debatable subject either - it is a FACT - think of it as 'computer physics'
PERIOD
