Especially with the possibility this may be the last update (ever), best to have all my T's dotted, and all my I's crossed !!!

In fact the only thing that would open them was 7z (which gives warning "There are some data after the end of the payload data") so extracted the files out with that and then rebuilt a new ISO with ImgBurn, fed that into Virtualbox and then all was good.

One either minor hiccup (just in case this helps anyone) is when I'm booting the VM up, I was kinda expecting as soon as it gave login prompt, that the daemon service would already be running and I could fire up PW client and log in, but I'd sometimes get weird errors like it'd show me my chars to pick from but then give an error trying to actually log in. Chased this around for a bit and in the end realised it was nothing - it just takes time for the server to come up and be truly ready and I was trying too fast heh

Going to test out 1.3.1 vs 1.3.6 as 1.3.6 seems to have weird tideborn-related stuff which is half there, like can craft weapons but they are wrong types (claw not dagger) and you get a quest saying go to Raging Tides and will open up the teleport waypoint, but nothing happens.

What I'm really curious tho is about events like Dragon Temple. In every server (both official PWI when it ran and priv servers) its always Tues 8pm server time. Are events like that enabled in these builds? Can you edit the times/frequency? I see those GM commands for initiating events like snowmen but DT, tigers, CoA not listed on there. Thanks!
That does actually make sense about the ISO, it's a custom ISO that I created in PowerISO (and then I touched them all to coordinate their timestamps)... So, some software may "yell" that they're "not valid"... I do know PowerISO and VMWare still can use them without problem. I am sorry to hear VBox didn't extend that same courtesy =\

Yes, you have to wait a bit before you can actually fully log in / play; it's not instant - no matter how beefy your machine...

v136 does have a LOT of "stuff", that was pretty much when I was in my PWp infancy and others around here and myself were pretty much trying to make 136 as close to "new" as possible (which at the time was Raging Tides / Genesis...! So, while I did do my best to try to still stay close to "retail"/"official"; there are TONS of things that have nothing to do with any actual v136... It's like 136 on steroids to try to be more like 141/142/144... Just without genies or auto-path... Or 79/100 skills IIRC... And still probably my favorite version despite not being "stock"; because that's where/when I learned the most, and that's also when the game was kind of at it's peak IMHO without crap like genies and auto-pathing (not to mention the additional races/classes)!

I never did do much with the "built in" events; but I'd imagine they should be there, at least whatever was actually "around" during that version (in its infancy)... If not, you can possibly tweak it yourself One of the first places you should look for events (like assault on Arch for ex.) is NPCGEN.DATA; pay attn to the "triggers" list, as "triggers" are how many "events" internally functioned... That and possibly AIpolicy... ... ...

Yep, I just downloaded VBox, and it sure as shit does seem to have a problem with my ISO's! Why I'm not entirely sure seeing as literally EVERY other program I have that handles ISO's does not seem to have a problem with them!

While your method produced results, it does seem a bit convoluted - to have to 'rebuild' them!

Next time, rather than rebuilding them (and the tedious process it entails) - just use (just about?) anything that mounts ISO's as "virtual discs", such as "daemon tools lite", or "Virtual Clone Drive" - mount them as a "live disc" on your host OS; then tell VBOX to "use" those (as if they were physical drives on your host PC)! Or of course my favorite - PowerISO

Much less tedious than having to "rebuild" them! But yes, VBox apparently has a bug up it's ass with my ISOs (leaves no wonder as to why I've always liked VMWare better [VMWare also has no issues with my ISOs]) !!!

I'm gonna have to disagree! I think it's more of a Win10 thing... As noted above dude couldn't get it working even on 15, but the host OS was Win10... So, explain then why would it work on 15 with Win7 as a host but not VMW15 with Win10 as a host...

Hint: not because VMWare sucks, but, because Windows 10 *SUCKS*

    - - - Updated - - -

    add:

but VMWare 16 does suck, since it requires Win10

    Oh well,

Will still be able to use it on a Linux host

    So there's the TRUE solution

Get Linux (it's a REAL OS, not that Win10 GARBAGE), then, if you "NEED" windows for any reason - run IT in a VM !!!!!!!

    </offtop>

But anywho; the real problems/solutions are that apparently Win10/VMWare don't seem to like Ubuntu 12.04.3, so a solution for that is to use VBox...

Vbox doesn't seem to like my ISOs - so easiest solution for that is to mount ISO using something like PowerISO, Daemon Tools Lite, or Virtual Clone Drive, THEN "mount" in VBox!

Optimal setup (besides running the server on it's own physical machine/hdd) is of course running on a Win7 host with VMWare 15.x...

But, if you "HAVE" to run on Win10, you're likely going to wind up using VBox, and something like Daemon Tools or Virtual Clone Drive (or PowerISO) in unison with VBox...

Unless, or until someone comes up with a Win10/VMware "solution"... I would love to, but I don't have Win10... So anyone that wants to, feel free!

Instructions:Perfect World Private - ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤This is a complete package of the game "Perfect World" for PCThe server from this package runs on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS x64The client runs on WinXP+ operating systemsThere is also a 'tools' disc included (pw_dev.iso) so that one can modify the server/client to their likingThe server has been made a simple and straightforward installation. All you have to do to install the server is mount/burn the ISO and run the corresponding installation for it. "./install-pw" will install v136, "./install-131" will install v131, "./install-146" will install v146, and "./install-fw" will install fw(v0517). v136 is the "base" package and REQUIRED to install any of the "addons" which include v131, v146, and fw(v0517). All can be installed at the same time but they cannot be ran simultaneously (only one can be ran at a time). There is a service included to switch between the active installed versions called pwversion (merely type "service pwversion" in the Linux terminal to switch between active versions). These can also be installed as a system service/daemon (if you have a worthy system [with enough RAM]) so that there is NO human interaction required to boot up the server besides pressing the power button (or starting up the virtual machine). Note: If you don't have a good enough system or just don't desire to run as a system service/daemon you can simply navigate a web browser to your server @ http://your.server.ip.address/admin to start one game map at a time. The servers HTTPD, MySQL, Tomcat, etc, are all started automatically no matter what (for this reason). If your servers IP changes (for any reason), use "./ipset.sh" located in /root/ to change the IP configurations that were set during the installation. The client doesn't really need 'instructions' whatsoever, just mount/burn the ISO and install, then it's ready to launch/play. You only need to set the IP of the server to connect to in serverlist.txt (server.lua for FW). For more advanced users there is an auto patcher (CPW) with this package and the two files: updateserver.txt and mainuni.xml also need the IP of the server set in them for the patcher to work. There is an entire WEALTH of knowledge about this package in a file called "adminnotes.txt" that can actually be found in two locations. A copy of adminnotes.txt is included with pw_dev.iso in a directory named AdminNotes and with the v136 base installation package in /root/notes/Some of the more technical aspects/details:This (server) package (and all of the 'addons') *MUST* be installed as the root user/account of Linux! This (server) package MUST be installed on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS x64 (included)!Ports (what ports this package will utilize):-29000 this is the game port (server-client game communications)-80 a basic website that is ran on the server so that accounts can be registered (and more even including a help desk)-8080 a tomcat JSP container for the above website and administrator controls-3306 the MySQL database for user accounts (should not be open to WAN if running a public server)Default passwords (CaSe SeNsItIvE):MySQL = username:root password:root (access from localhost ONLY)MySQL = username:pwAdmin password:root (access from ANY host)[ie... for BatGM, or Navicat].htaccess (/opt/lampp/security/restricted.users & restricted.groups) = username:pwAdmin password:rootpwAdmin = roothesk (help desk/ticket system) = username:Administrator password:adminLink to first post regarding the newest update: Click HereInstallation Tutorial Video:
Hello @343 I want to make server to play with some old friends, with which we played together maybe 10 years ago, so just what to ask you which sable and fixed server (if he have custom quests and/or items will be better) will advice me to install so i can play with them? I have got few russian servers, but is too much work for me to translate it and I am not sure which files to translate, so that is what I am asking you for advice. Thanks in advance!

If you're specifically looking for that time frame (~around 10 years prior to now); you'll most likely enjoy 136 and/or 146, at least those would be the closest releases out of this package...

No, I am not looking for that frame, I just need server with possible less bugs and some custom features/quests/items if have! :) Thanks.

Well TBH I haven't been following any other releases since creating and maintaining this package!

    - - - Updated - - -

And as far as this package/release goes I have made it my entire goal to be as "stock" as possible (so people can make their OWN customizations rather than deal with somebody elses)!

The only version in this package that is "highly modified" would be 136 (the base package); although it is "heavily modified" it was modified primarily to resemble a "stock" 139/144 (with stock and stock-like "customizations")...!

    - - - Updated - - -

So based on all that I would recommend to (at least start with) v136 from this package... It also has the most amount of "knowledge" and "tools" available so that you can customize just about anything you could want to!

Just as a heads up to all; I will likely be pushing out at least one more update to this (once my troubleshooting has been completed)

The password for the pwAdmin page should just be root.

Can you get it to allow you in with that password?

Not sure what's happening then. Has your IP address of the server changed (via DHCP) or do you have it set as static?

I know on my box, I created a DHCP lease reservation for the virtual machine's network interface, so that it always received the same IP address. I believe the IP address that's entered during setup it hard-coded into the various services running on the box, but it doesn't prevent the actual server from grabbing whatever the DHCP server hands to it. (i.e. DHCP could give you a different IP for the server after a reboot, but the services are still trying to run on the IP that it started with.)

I'm not 100% sure on that part, but I would recommend checking that part first.

Also, if your IP has changed, I believe that there is a command built-in to the package that updates all the IP address entries. I'll have to go search for that first and I'll report back if I find it.

Worst case scenario, nuke the VM and start over. Start to finish, installation of this server should only take appx 15 minutes, tops.

yes there is, it's in /root/ and it's called ipset.sh

so, simply run ./ipset.sh the moment you log in to change config IPs

Default password for pwAdmin is "root" - if you type ANYTHING other than root the first time - you automatically are changing it to whatever ELSE you type, therefore if you type "FUCKYOU" the FIRST time you log into pwAdmin, your new password moving forward would be "FUCKYOU"... Likewise, if you type NOTHING at all, this is your password moving forward, IE your password is "<null>", and will always be <null> moving forward... The only way to change that is to edit the pwAdmin files manually yourself!

That being said, chances are you cannot log in due to map 61 not being started... If you're running anything above 146 I think it is, for 151 you have to start - I can't even remember RN, and for 153 and 155 you have to start map61 / IS61... You will not be able to log in if the map the character is "born on" isn't "up"

    - - - Updated - - -

    ETA: IS62, if you're using v151 it's actually is62 you must start (to be "born")... 153 and 155 it's is61...

the start map has never changed after 1.5.1 it has always been is62

edit: ok, I'm wrong it's 61 (I stopped dealing with pwi since the w2 leak)

    for 153 and 155 it's is61 ~ that I am 100% sure of

    I'm not 100% sure on 151 without firing it up but I do know it's either is62 [strike]or is63[/strike]

I feel I'm starting to get close, I do believe that as of 0200 (my time zone) tonight my 'test' troubleshooting server will have been running 14 days straight - with NO issues... Still gonna wrap up some other stuff, and continue testing!

I quit playing PW back in 2012, so I have no clue what that is, or how it works =\

First and foremost - as with any 'feature' or 'place'; I'd make sure the proper map(s) are running! That along with any configurations needed (like how you can turn PVP on/off, or TW on/off, ETC!!!

Whatever your problem is may be as simple as setting a configuration and/or starting a map(s)...

Maybe someone who actually knows will chime in

    - - - Updated - - -

Also(/add): Links are going dead while I UL a major update!

homestead is one of the last instances. is80, (and possibly is81?)

if you ever need to know what a certain map is, go to element/maps/a** and look at precinct.clt and you'll find the names in there (this is a text file with the clt extension for the client)
