Cabal Launcher [Need Suggestions]

Hello RZ Users,

I'm planning to make a launcher and relese it here on RageZone. So before I start to code it I want to see some suggestions and feedbacks from you guys.

First I want to say that I will start to develope it from the scratch so it might take a while so because of this if I will make this I will relese new versions every time I finish to code a feature. (Like if I finish the update function I will relese the launcher ... next after I finish the next feature a new version will be relesed and so on.)

Secound I want to hear your suggestions for the launcher features ... what it should have or should not have and so on ... I also made a list of feature that the launcher can include.

1. WebPages to post news announcements etc
2. Auto Update
3. MD5 Checks
4. Error handler
5. Full server config control

3rd I want to see suggestions about the design (GUI) of the launcher.
Here I made a sample background for the launcher ... It was inspired by the official launcher ... If any1 have any better ideas please tell me


And the last think I want to know is if it really worth to try to make something like this. Anyway I will wait suggestions and comments about this and I will decide later if I will make it or not.

If any1 want to see a previouse launcher that I made here is a link to it but It still have some glitches in the code that I have to fix but not is the main problem ... I posted it just to have an idea on how the launcher will work so you can add more suggestions etc ...

Well yes I have a way of making people use the launcher. Its a modifed cabalmain but since its not my work I will not relese that. I will relese only the launcher ... it will have :Full server config control" that meen that you can change all the possible settings from the server cfg file like the start parameters for cabalmain if you want to edit it for example and so on.

Anyway I'm still waiting suggestions for other features that I can add ... and today after I get home I will start to code it ... maybe until saturday the first version will be done.

Oh and one question as well. Ive seen many people using official launcher template. Can i ask, where you guys get it, if it's not a big secret XD

Screenshot the official launcher. Put the screenshot on the background of your launcher window and build your controls around it ;)

Of course it will work with net framework 2.0 ... I don't code things for 3.5 because that framework eats too many resources so the launcher will requier only 2.0.

And no, not a lot of ppl use the official template :P ... they are using the official launcher not just the template :P ... anyway its easy ... make a screenshot of the official launcher then cut it from the screenshot and use it as a render for your own design :P

OK thx guys, i was planning of learning a bit of VB myself to make some kind of launcher :)

But now i dont know, yours seems to come the best ive seen here and i might just use yours :P

I wrote a primitive launcher using VB6.
It doesn't support auto-update but it can kill a process (like cheat engine).
