Installing Episode 8 Files on CentOS 5.X 64bit

I'm following youre guide on this on, when trying to run "yum install libgcc"

I get this respond :

That error really does not make sense to me. All the dependencies are already installed. I even tested myself on a minimal installation of centos without anything.

I installed it on debian without alien, you don't need any rpm package. Regarding the GNU/Linux version, it is a matter of personal preferences, but believe me, after all my years of experience working with GNU/Linux I can assure you that anything you were willing to install in centos, it would be way faster with Debian.

When it comes to FPS game servers, websites, ftp servers I agree with you. CABAL however was coded and optimized for CentOS. Any different in load is really negligible. It is however nice to find someone else who prefers debian. The reason the guide was made for CentOS is that it is definetly harder to get it to run on Debian and its already hard as it is for some.

You can find this in de full server files, and you can upload it with filezilla or winscp or another FTP/SFTP tool.

You have to use latest virtual box or a physical machine.

Then don't use esxi. Install CentOS physically on your machine. I guarrantee you it will work.

How much ram do you have? If you can't get a seperate Windows box then do this:

Install centos as main (considering you have atleast 6-8gigs) then install gnome environment and install vnc-server and vncviewer (vnc viewer on your computer). Then install vmware server on it, there are tutorials online how to do it, and make a Windows VM.

OR (this is what others did and worked for them but I never tried personally), the get-away is to use latest virtual box and not esxi or vmware player, or vmware workstation.

If i will use 6.3 debian version, do i still need to follow all the steps of extornia's guide? If you have added some way of installing ep8 on debian 64, pls post ur guide also.
