i just test cabal server on my pc and i didn't make higher ram for CentOS it is just a local server and i wanted to know if i can connect to the server successfully or not so i can buy dedicated server for public one (btw it is not first time for me trying to make server, i made Fusion Kal private server online for 3 years 2009-2012)

here in cabal it is not big difference it is all about server installation now and i'm sure that everthing installed correctly here , i can connect to the server and type id and pw but i can't see any world/channel and when i tried to start WorldSvr_01_08 i couldn't see its channel too, i think something is missed not about installation process

hmm... i think i will install CentOS on a different pc win7 64bit 4gb ram and make my pc for the databases and client too...

If it were RAM issues or just channel loading time, the TG channel should pop up, assuming you gave enough RAM to the VM for normal function (even if restricted to just the TG channel). Try enabling the services and just waiting for a couple of minutes to see if the channel appears (restart your client too, just in case). Or yeah, try on a separate machine too.

It might not be RAM issues, though. Maybe the server has issues if CentOS and the DB are in the same host. Maybe it's if the client is in the same host as the server components. Maybe it's just we're expecting channels to load up immediately and they take some time. I've no clue. What I do know is separating CentOS from the rest of the mix and giving it as many resources as possible remedied my issue.

All of this assumes, of course, that you followed the installation steps adequately. But if you can login with your username and password, chances are everything is set up correctly, otherwise you wouldn't even connect. Failure to see channels means they're either not starting up correctly, or not yet completely started up at the time you're attempting to enter (AFAIK anyway). But since your logs don't seem to show any relevant data, I'm more inclined towards the second possibility.

hmm... i think it is problem of slow CentOS but i'm not sure as i said maybe something is missed but i'm trying now to install CentOS on a separate machine i hope i get it works...

Caelann Thanks for great advice the problem was in slow ram i think, i installed CentOS on different pc with 2 processors and 2 gb rams and it seems to work perfect for now and i can connect to the channel ;)

I reinstalled everything and I can log into my account and I see 1 channel but I cannot log into the channel!! help please :)

hey all I have install all 3 times allready check every posible way, I even installed the programa akisori talk about testing if centos connected to the SQL server and it says open, I don't know what else to do i'll attacth a log file + picture. plz help

as U see in the pic, when i put service cabal start all is OK but when I put service cabal stop i get those on Failed + if i put service cabal status it shows them not running. if I try to start manual is says OK too but when i check status again it shows not running :S

type:
1) service cabal config
2) Find the ip in your windows by typing ipconfig in cmd and type that
3) type sa as the username
4) type the password you put for your SQL server
5) Type ifconfig in your CentOS terminal type the ip from there
6) ???
7) Profit

looks like its a common problem.. has there been some hidden change to the files perhaps? Oo
Or guides and such miss a critical step... i cant feel but thinking its a config issue. Sicne i have firewalls disabled so nothing is blocking.

!st step that they forgot to mention is that even tho you play/test in lan - you need port forward if you use WAN ip in the config after installing.
Reedited it to the local centos ip.

2n problem is that ChatNode, AgentShop and WorldSvr stop after you use Service cabal start - so you have to use the command twice to actually start the last 3 - thats when after restarting client, server was listed and could get in.

But now... WHY does it fail to start those 3 in the first run... i got logs for it.. but too late to check them today.

true, i used WAN ip in service cabal config but i edit that later to i dont need to open ports cuz its for localhost, i will try 2nd solution later, thanks :)

check services with services cabal status to make sure the yare running.

Even tho the first services cabal start reports all OK not all of them actually started.

you really done great here.. but please help me with my problem, i have bought new linux and windows server. my friend manage to set up the windows server and database perfectly but he need to do something else important so he didnt touch the linux server. So i tried to setup it myself. i uploaded my serverfiles and put repack on root folder. also do the ./cabal_install.sh thing and config the msql ip , pass and the ip for players to connect. all is ok. but when i run the services.. please check the ss i got. hope someone can help me here.

NOTE: i also checked the var/log but i cant see cabal folder inside it so i can't see cabal logs. idk whats the problem.

As I said, delay your service startup script by a few seconds, the problem is the daemon doesn't initialize fast enough so that the next daemon can connect to it.
