OK, it seems like im down a a few last bugs and i cant quite figure it out. My current problem is character creation and ive followed every other post and guide on how to fix it but have been so far unsuccessful.

all of my ini's and config files are properly set up, I created a test account using the stored procedure and used Chumpys GM tools to ensure the account was created. My client (Saur0n) connects to the server and i see the server and channels properly but when i get to creating a character i get the unknown DB errors.

According to every linked server guide on the site my config is right, my provider string is good but my DBAgent log shows "cannot initialize the data source object...." error. I have tried every possible linked server config, changed permissions tried sa account in cabal_config.sh, I even restored all my DB's and tried from scratch and still no progress.

I hope someone can help me out cuz i cant find anything that gets me any closer to a functioning server. I have included my server logs after a fresh service restart and create character attempt.. (ignore the multiple login attempts, i was trying to log in while the server was still loading...)

Good news and bad news. Your logon server is seeing your logon attempts ok so logon and internal config are good. The bad news is your server cannot access your linked server (gameserver). Can you post a screenshot of the linked server panel with the connection string and the security settings? You pretty much want all of the security tickboxes on, made without using a security context and the ip in the connections string should be 127.0.0.1 or the windows lan ip.

I can't seem to get the server to connect to the database. I used Chumpy's GM Tool and was able to log in the database using my LAN's IP (192.168.1.146) and 127.0.0.1 IP. I can create, delete, edit account in the GM tool. I ran the /home/cabal/cabal_config.sh in Putty and input the same information I used on the GM tool and go through the set up successfully. However, when I went to the DBAgent_24.log file, I kept seeing the Database connect fail. I checked and double checked to make sure I was using the correct database login username and password. Still fail.

My CentOS IP is 192.168.1.151 <---static IP I set from the router
My LAN IP for the PC is: 192.168.1.146
I am able to ping the CentOS from my PC and vice versa.

When I tried to create an account manually using this command Chumpy mentioned above "exec dbo.cabal_tool_registerAccount 'username','password', I get this message "Msg 2812, Level 16, State 62, Line 1
Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.cabal_tool_registerAccount'."

Does that mean there is something wrong with my Database??

What is the exact error te dbagent comes up with? If you use mssql 2005 make sure remote connections are enabled in your surface area configure tool and that you don't have it installed as an instance.

Thanks for the fast reply. The Remote Connections in My surface Are config are enable and is set to Both TCP/IP and name pipes...as instructed in your Database Guide. Here is what my DBAgent_24.log is saying right now:

FIXED by using sa account in cabal_config.sh, making sure sa had full access to all databases even though i know it does :) and replacing "localhost" in the provider string with SQL Server IP address.

** with some thurough searching i found the premium issue and solved by using different premium values, both are set to 1 which gives premium no problem.. still cant figure out the server rate issue, Chumpy, would you like to shed some light on the subject :)

At least you go the server to connect to the database . My problem is still the connection issue between CentOS and the SQL server.

How did you find your Database IP?? When I did the link server step, I tried "Gameserver", "localhost", and even my PC IP and still I am unable to connect to the database from CentOS. I'm ready to pull my hair out. Any info would be helpful..and thanks in advance, especially Chumpy

From what i can see in your log it looks like libtdsodbc.so.0 is missing, i had this exact same problem, i solved it by:
1 Googling the actual file name (libtdsodbc.so.0)
2. I found a download of the rpm (freetds .64-7)
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/fedora/relea...7.fc8.i386.rpm
3. Once the rpm downloaded i moved it to the CentOS desktop by using winSCP.
4. in the centos machine i right clicked the rpm and opened it with archive manager.
5. once the rpm opened I extracted libtdsodbc.so.0.0.0 to the desktop and renamed it to libtdsodbc.so.0.
6. once it was renamed I moveed it to /root/ep2/usr/lib.
7. I cleared my logs and restarted the cabal services.

thats what stopped the DB connect errors for me..

The getq errors in my experience are a result of the DB errors, once the server is able to connect to your DB the getq and port listen errors (if you have any) should stop, if not a service cabal restart should fix it..

also i just fixed my provider string in SQL (as my earlier post describes) what i did was
DRIVER={SQL Server};SERVER="Windows IP Here";UID=;PWD=;

not too sure how much help i can be but im a quick learner and know how i fixed my own problems at least :P

Ive attached a simple tool to help you find an open IP address on your network. usually you can take a guess at the 253+ possibilities and come up with one no poblem. Just use an IP that nothing else on your network is using.

1. download and extract the tool
2. run the program
3. input your starting IP address
4. input your ending IP address

I clear the log file before the service cabal restart with > and when I view it again, I got the same message...but this time it adds the line: requires glibc 2.5 or later dynamic linker. If you have any suggestions, please please let me know. Thanks in advance. By the way, if I can connect to the database using my cabal login with Chumpy's GM too and are able to create account, does that mean my database is working??

Not nnecessarily, all the GM tool does is automate DB query tasks to avoid manual editing, it has nothing to do with the CentOS system. As a side note, id be willing to say that these errors arent leading me to believe there are DB problems. Your DB is more than likely fine just CentOS cant connect do to missing libraries. As for the remaining errors, what CentOS version are you running. Im running 4.6 and using the Chumpy installer script in the server files i had no real problem with RPM installs (other than the aformentioned libtdsodbs.so.0) Make sure the CentOS system can access the internet and try reinstalling the server files using Chumpy's commands (chmod 0777 ./cabal_install.sh - ./cabal_install.sh > follow all prompts! with CentOS 4.6 and active internet it will update the installer packages and make sure the most current is installed). If i had to guess id say you either arent running 4.6 and missing some dependencies OR the installer wasnt run properly (chmod 0777)

Like i said, i dont know too much but im glad to offer at least a little help :)

I had this problem as well to being with. How are you running the stored procedure? are you locating it in the DB and right clicking to execute or entering the DB query command? The way i got my accounts to properly register is by issuing the DB command.

Highlight ACCOUNT db and right click and select "new Query"
in the new windows type in:
EXEC cabal_tool_registerAccount 'UserName',Password' (replace username and password with whatever you prefer)
At the top of the window click Execute, at the bottom will be a confirmation of success or fail and a log.

Im assuming you tried to right click the SP and input the information there, i had problems with NULL values this way and had to issue the commands to get past it.

I had no luck adding accounts via Chumpys GM tool however i was able to test and see if the account I manually created was now entered in the DB. Simply enter the DB command and open Chumpys GM tool and search for the account you just created to make sure the tool finds it..

make sure you follow the "creat a user" section of the guide and take ownership of the database. If the user you are loggend in as doesnt have sufficient privlidges you will have errors all over the place :)
