The Bestway is to ping BOTH first PING Windows in Centos

Ping The IP of windows and Gateway

    ping -c4 win.dow.s.IP
    ping -c4 win.dow.s.gateway

then after you ping and responds

try to ping Centos in windows

click start - > run -> type cmd -> enter

    type
    ping <put the centos IP>

and if responds you can connect to WINSCP

I should have watched my mouth and not said/talked shit to DeadlyData telling him things like your are not welcome here because then I become the one who is truly not welcome here.

I think there is something wrong with the IP i chose ----> look

Dont mind the centos picture, ive fixed that.

my centos can ping my windows ( it says 4 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss) is that good/bad?

yeh but is the Centos IP good? just an unused ip in your ip range right?

and how to check that ip's netmask or w/e..

goto My Network Place -> View Network Connection -> Right Click Local Area Connection -> Status -> click support tab -> then you will see the net mask -> for Detailed IP's -> click the Details... Button

    just a tip..
for ip... pick an ip that is unused.. example ur lan ip is 192.168.0.160 u can pick an ip like 192.168.0.150 or any ip within range to be ur Cent OS ip

for net mask.. u can find it using using ipconfig

for gateway... the same as net mask

for primary dns... i suggest using opendns ip. 208.67.222.222

dats how i did with the centos part.. (i restart my computer after installing centos---not useful i think)

    ^_^

modem has different address from lan i think.... wat do u see wen u run cmd>ipconfig???? it should show addresses of the "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection".. those addresses are the relevant ones....
