hehehe. i want to help others too. ^_^

    @demonite

if u can give a screenshot of ur ipconfig results under Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection, i think i can suggest an ip u can use for cent.os... and reinstalling it with that new ip is the best way i think... ^_^

That is bad my friend. When you ping from CentOS to the windows, you have got to type in the IP instead of the word win.dows.ip. Your CentOS was able to ping your windows just fine according to your picture. The windows to CentOS ip lost 1 packet, but if you ping it one more time, it should work. However, I shouldn't be talking LOL, I still can't get my Cabal server to connect to my database :(

I should have watched my mouth and not said/talked shit to DeadlyData telling him things like your are not welcome here because then I become the one who is truly not welcome here.

Failing to log inis a misconfiguration problem normally. If you are using my repack then please read the instructions again as at no point do i suggest editing one single ini (or any other) file. I wrote cabal_config.sh specifically because of the sheer number of people who mess up their configs by editing random things without any idea of what the things they are changing do, and if you follow the instructions the ONLY thing you need to know is the centos ip, the windows ip and your sql login infos. I did not spend all that time writing the config script to have to then manually fix half the cabal servers here after trying to guess your configs.

    Chumpy or anyone :)

When you have a chance, could you please look at these log files?? I've been racking my brain up trying to get the Cabal server to connect to the database and it seems like it's not working. I am able to ping CentOs from Windows and Windows from CentOS. I redo the database 3 times already and it's still not working. Followed your instruction, I created a user (cabal) and make it the DBO of ACCOUNT, cabal_managerdb, CabalCash, Cabal_stat, Event, and Gamedb. When I linked the server, I put my database IP instead of "localhost". The weird thing is, when I use your GM tool and log in as "cabal" I cannot create new user becasue it kept saying, "Duplicate row. Player already exits?" when I know for sure that player has not been created. However, when I log in as "sa" with your GM tool, I am able to create user..it's odd because I did not set anything for the user "sa".

Also, I did put in the file "libtdsodbc.so.0" as DarkCycle suggested in the \root\ep2\usr\lib folder and I still see the error that says it cannot open it in the DBAgent_24 log file. I even double check to make sure FreeTDS is installed by running "Yum install Freetds" under root after I ran the chmod 0777 ./cabal_install.sh --->./cabal_install.sh. When I clicked on the "Database Diagram" of all the database (with the exception of Gamedb), I kept getting this message

"Database diagram support objects cannot be installed because this database does not have a valid owner. To continue, first use the Files page of the Database Properties dialog box or the ALTER AUTHORIZATION statement to set the database owner to a valid login, then add the database diagram support objects."

Is this the reason why I can't connect to the databse?

At first, I try to rectify it by right click on the Databse, go to properties, and click on the Files, then I choose the owner of the database and put in "sa", and hit Ok. After that, the diagram message disappear and I was able to install the diagram support.

Unfortunately, this didn't really solved anything. When I ran the /hom/cabal/cabal_install.config, I tried both my databse IP (192.168.1.146 and 127.0.0.1) and used both "cabal" login and "sa" login...and it still didn't work.

Other than running the chmod 0777 ./cabal_install.sh ---> then ./cabal_install.sh, and /home/cabal/cabal_config.sh, I did not alter anything else in the Ep2 folder. I've attached some of the log file from the CentOS server, please review them when you have some time. I am about ready to quit, but I REALLY REALLY HATE QUITTING...so please, I really need your help

No no no. YOU DO NOT EDIT THE CFG FILES, i seem to say this every day and people are STILL editing things by hand which is completely wrong and you have broken your install. cabal_config.sh RELIES on you not editing the cfg files and if you do so the script cannot find the values it nees to change when you run it which results in a config that doesn't work.

Re-copy the ep 2 files back to the centos machine. DO NOT EDIT ONE SINGLE FILE. Now run cabal_config.sh and answer it's questions. It is that simple.

The database diagrams are not necessary and are always missing unless you create them.

This is showing up in your logs:
/usr/lib/libtdsodbc.so.0: requires glibc 2.5 or later dynamic linker
This should have been solved by installing freetds. What centos version do you use? I have had 3 or 4 reports of freetds being missing now which didn't happen in v1 of my repack and i am guessing that something is failing during cabal_install.sh but nobody has reported any errors so i'm a bit ballfed how just this one rpm is getting missed out.

During cabal_install.sh when asked if you were installing on centos 4 did you enter anything or did you just press Enter?

re: [old] My guides + databases

Thanks for the reply Chumpy. It's always great to hear from ya. I am running CentOS 4.7 final version and when I ran the cabal_config.sh, I usually just press Enter when it asked me am I running CentOS 4. But I tried pressing Y too and it doesn't really do anything. And I did open port 1433 in windows firewall and was able to telnet to the database through windows and CentOS. I am willing to try another version if you can suggest me one that will work. Please let me know :)
