There is a guide on making all new accounts premium in my sig, or you can do the accounts 1 by 1 using my gm tools (also in my sig).

A wireless connection is no different to any other connection so that isn't the problem. You said your centos is different to the guide but both centos 4 and 5 have the same network settings so i don't know what you mean.

I really hope you're still arround to answer questions.

I've got a lot of probs and figured all out myself. Im using ubuntu and after I could finally connect via putty and such, I executed your cabal_insall.sh script. I didn't had yum and it didn't download it, so I installed it manually in my ubuntu, np, but now I got this kind of error and I really don't know what I did wrong, I checked directorys and I can't find any error, I copied them 1to1 like it was discriped in the guide.

Wouldyou be so kind and help me in this case? 'coz iam so close to it and can't find a solution myself, I also read 10 pages of this thread, but no error is similar to my.

It says nothing to do, it's for all the same.
    Here are the screenshots:

re: [old] My guides + databases

You are missing a lot of dependencies there and you are going to have to install the bits it is missing. Glibc and gcc are both missing by the look of those errors. I have never tried installing on ubuntu so i don't know what bits it is missing to be honest. All you can really do is google the filenames to find out what package they are from and then yum the packages.

I know ubuntu can run the gameserver as i have seen posts by people using it. You could try posting a new topic in the help section to see if you can get some advice from somebosy that has tried it.

Other than that you could try centos as installation is much simpler. If you do the most minimal install of centos 4.x you only need CD1 to install it and the only thing that needs yummed is qt3, do a basic install as per my guide and you need CD1 and CD2 but nothing needs yumming.

    Thx for your reply.

I already had centOS installed, but I couldn't ping WinXP dunno why, it just didn't work, I tried everything,... however, I'll try using a diff. version of centos, you may got a link to centos which will work? (I get confused by 1000 version available xD)

(atm I try another guide with other serverfiles, but as soon as I fail ill try centos and ur guide back again).

nope, I did nothing wrong, my version of centos is obviously bugged, otherwise it wouldn't work for other versions (such as ubuntu etc.) even a friend looked into it via remoute control (his job is working with linux) and he couldn't figure out what's wrong 'coz it simply blocks everything lol even tho everythings right setuped.

    downloading version 4,7 now.

I don't get it, centos doesn't work for me, I can't establish a connection to my main pc and vmware centos got no inet -,- it only works on ubuntu for me, but there's the lib. prob....

I can only access ifconfig if I use /sbin/ifconfig -,- and so on.

How do I add those missing files? I don't even have a clue what I've to google :s

if your trying to run server off dedicated would it not be logical run full linux and have server connecting to a data center for mssql? you could even run the datacenter from home comp connecting to server.

By the way, i am using CentOS 4.7 on a Dedicated Machine, and Windows with MSSQL on a different one. I changed the port 1433 to 1444(MSSQL) due to some security reasons. I can connect just fine from home to other databases that i host there. But i have the next problem, and it may be the reason for why i see login screen, can write login and password and press connect but it just load load, and says that failed to connect. If you have any ideas on how to solve it please post here. Thanks in advance.

    EDIT:
I also changed the default port to the current one (1444) in odbc.ini

    EDIT2:
Chumpy's GM Tools also connect just perfect from home to cabal db.
Check /etc/odbc.ini on the centos machine. If you are using an alternate port config for mssql you need to change it in the odbc.ini too or the server will try 1433 and fail to connect.

I can only access ifconfig if I use /sbin/ifconfig -,- and so on.

How do I add those missing files? I don't even have a clue what I've to google :s
Centos is a bit touchy about it's network settings and unless you supply a DNS server you will not be able to get to web pages. To test connectivity ping your windows ip address and pring centos from windows. If you can do that then that is all you need as dns isn't really necessary.

To use ifconfig you need to type "su - root" from the centos terminal to elevate yourself to root with root's environment. Personally i use winscp and putty connected as root to manage servers as i find it easier.

Well, i noticed something when i was looking 'again' for odbc.ini and there is no that ODBC.ini but yes ODBC.cfg
Anyways, i created a copy of ODBC.cfg and renamed it to ODBC.ini with new ports. (Ports was already changed) and i still have the same problem..
Here is the links for my clean logs: http://rapidshare.com/files/161481621/Logs.zip

    Thanks in advance.
