Map torch uses a scroll called "Torch of Isilrute" OR "Torch of Raon" to unlock dungeon map view via the navigator. You can find out more info about it here if needed:

Use the scroll and it shows, otherwise its black.
You'll know if its working by going into a dungeon and seeing if the navigator is black. If its not black then the one you added does not work. If you expect more help you need to provide code or point us to the source your using.

Using source Guru V19 added torch system while in dungeon did not work.
