secretsothep - Gunz: The CTF test
My version of CTF.
Uses world items that respawn on a 5 second timer to implement the game mode.
It's nearly bug free, and almost ready for posting!

I'm not sure how it's better other than particle effects.
I am a coder, not an artist, so graphically it might be better, I suppose.
Am pretty proud of the backend of it though :P
Something also to note; MocroGunZ will not be releasing their version of CTF so you really can't compare a product that everyone can use and modify to one specific servers' CTF mode.

Well i love that song, but i would change that you can't take the red flag if you are on red team, you just need to take the blue one and take it to red or make it seem like on red team they wont see red flag, they see some red circle and on blue team they wont see blue flag they see some blue circle :D

The five second delay in picking up the flag is intentional. It's so a malicious user cannot exploit the system as easily. It also makes for cleaner world item handling. In the future maybe i'll make a clientsided timer but for now the serversided one appears to work better. It even adds strategy in picking up your own flag, you may want to clear out a friendly base in Mansion, for example, so they cannot prevent you from capturing the flag.
In other news, RaGEZONE's Wucas gave me some things to play with, you can see one of them here. The logic is also fixed and points are awarded to the proper team. Wucas added a very familiar announcer to the mix:
secretsothep - Gunz: CTF Test #2 -- Now with more logic.

But this way, wouldn't players keep taking their own flag and then enemy team just can't find a flag to pick up?

I think you should make it says "The Flag has been grabbed" or something like that everytime u grab it and when u capture it comes up saying "Flag Captured" then the next round starts. Anyway good job!

I 100% agree, Mocro has no intention of releasing his version and he coded his version himself but had abit of help wiv the GFX. I kinda agree with where hes coming from but even so, Well done Secret.

I was already waiting for sound like this "Red team lost the flag"

Yes, but constantly running into a flag makes you an easy target.

Well, you could just make that so if you run on your own flag without enemy's flag would do nothing rather than pick it up. But yeah, I do understand this is gonna be open-sourced and that we'll be able to put in whatever we want.
Edit; just thought of it, this is Gunz and not an FPS, I'm pretty sure any player can manage to get it without being hit..

Depends on if you have a lead server or not.
On topic, I am pretty much ready to release this. I chose FreeStyle Gunz as the test bed for a live environment. Shameless plug for those guys, Linear88 is a great coder and their anti-lead is one of the better ones I have seen. Their balance is similar to if I had made a server. It is the easiest place to implement the CTF gamemode, and I recommend trying it when it is released there, and on your own server when it is released on RaGEZONE as well of course ;)
If everything goes well with the CTF matches and server performance, I will be posting it on RaGEZONE afterwards. The format will simply be a .diff against my local test source (which is a GunZ 1.5 non-CQ source, the one released by Dawson.), it's only about 1,500 lines of code changed/added.
Wucas' flags will be included, and a sample mansion spawn.xml will be included in the release. With Wucas' permission I will also release the sound effects for general consumption.

That's a very good choice in my opinion seeing FGunz being the most unique 1.5 Server.
