I have another question, i have a public server in my ISP office, and when i make some change, i test with 2 computer on my lan to connect to the public server, i haven't tested with 2 computer not in same room... the problem can come from here? 2 player with same IP can't play on the server?

I just have make a test without my firewall... and the problem is the same...

I dont get the editting the launcher using hex workshop part . can someone help me change one using the launcher ts posted and change it to 5.77.223.77? thanks

Hi,

I have tested with an other player in other place, and, i can't see him on the map, we are invisble for other palyer and we can't interact with other player but i can see when he take live or armor, the item desapear... but, if he don't move and i try to fire where he is, he wasen't killed...

Any idea?

Hey. I just started doing this because I want to make a Gunz Server for a group of friends to play in a complete LAN game, no internet connection. So I've started from scratch. Editing the GunzLauncher in Hex I used the internal IP for this computer (I plan to test this server so I'm using this computer as the server; once I can get this all to work, I'll change the IP's when we go to the college LAN Party). I was going to do the patch thing but it's not working like it should. Alot of the steps you have Max is out of order. Setting up the server sounds like something you should begin with.

Anyways I did everything up to where you have to change the master to GunzDB database and Execute. Instead of Command successfully done or whatever. I got this message:

I restored the GunzDB database first, then connected, then changed the master to GunzDB, ran the execute which came up with a different error, so I connected again and ran the execute, which brought the message shown above. I don't know if I'm able to move on with the TuT with this error. Max I would like for you to help me personally if you can.

What is the "sa" and "password"...is it from the MSMSE? like my Server name when I connect to the Object explorer says "Thomas\SQLEXPRESS and it's a Windows Authentification. Do I need the SQL Server Authetification? Also...if the "sa" and "password" is my acc like the "Thomas\SQLEXPRESS"... then what if I don't have a password...what do I put?

what is MSMSE? you need MSSQL. When you first install it, it will ask you for a username/password use sa for the username and put anything as the pasword. Make it use SQL Server Auth so it has a login.

ok 1. ZPatchBuilder is a tool used to make a patch.xml file for the launcher to use to patch the files inside the patch.xml. For example if you used it to patch lets say Default.xml cause you made some edits to it. If you look inside patch.xml you will see its information (like the crc32 and stuff). Once you run your launcher if you have set the web page by hexing it to the web of the patch.xml it will patch any file not the same crc32 as the one in patch.xml.
2. Filelist(.xml) is supposed to be what Maiet/IJJI uses to keep the crc32 of the files in so that if you tried to change a file without editing the filelist, it would not let you play the game. Its a hack protection system, but was easily bypassed when CBWhiz made the MRS Compiler/Decompiler and hackers found out that filelist was used for this.

Ok I somewhat understood the ZPatchBuilder and I'll soon understand the Filelist. Well I got the server to work. But in the inventory and shops, there are alot of spaces. How do I add the premium items in there and available in the shop and also clean up all that extra space in there? Also if I want the prison quests and stuff, I just have to add the maps in from like ijji or so right?

search the forums for ShopGen for a quick but un-organized shop with everything in it from the zitem. If you want prison and stuff to go 7-Elevens KGunZ Update.mrs thread. It has all the updates that KGunZ is getting.

but as for more items you will have to find them your self and add them in

@Tre_Zillah - Yeah I did the same thing. Just uninstall MSME and re install it and this time when it asks for the authentication, put mixed mode and for login put "sa" and for pass put whatever you want. it'll always stay. Trust me, just do that and it works. I started this server thing and in one day I got it working.

only for thier items. Model.mrs has all the models of the weapons, items and everything else. So if you want you can replace it. But it should be taken out of the tut now since the new encryption on the .xml files.

Example : I use some other GunZ private server's zitem.xml and strings.xml but do I need their man.mrs, woman.mrs, and model.mrs to have my shop EXACTLY the same as theres, and FULLY equipable?

you might need those too, man/woman has all to do with the man/woman models (or the files they use)

...what you need is:
mode.mrs(yes all of it)
Man.mrs
Woman.mrs
Update.mrs 1 to (the last one)
sytem.mrs...

but now you also need the ijji file dumper

and and item priced over 500000 wont show up in shop nor will

put Monitor IP to 127.0.0.1 so you dont get the 999 ping problem

also are you running locator and matchAgent?

Weirdly enough, I can't get the server to show. I've had a serv up and running easily a long time ago, running it now and it just won't show under WAN IP Settings, changing all IP's to 127.0.0.1 seem to work, but I doubt it's accessable by other people.

Any suggestions?

if you get the same error on both xp and vista then it is a program that you are running or some think you are doing wileyour do it or a disabled service or 2

well my SQLexpress service thingy is running same with the sqlbrowser thingy.........

maybe u shud add a tut on how to correctly setup SQL server

yeah but its harmless cuz i got a anti virus obviously, firewall, and lot of other crap......... and plus i really dont care about viruses they never do anything to ME anyways...........

check your MatchServer/Log/ files for any warnings about spCheckDuplicateCharName

@highergamers its a database problem, you may have install it wrong or changed some your not pose 2

@sluggermyers, patch.xml comes ater you make it, make shure ports are open and you can connect to your own IP

Sluggers make sure u use 127.0.0.1

Ahh, been working on this SOB for like 8 hours. Driving me crazy.



ALSO - I redid everything and just put the IP as 127.0.0.1 and the server pops up. I log in and the char name is Jenny, but the account I put in in SQL is a different name. Makes no senseeee

I changed all IP to 127.0.0.1 n i c da server but "cannot access server" :|

@crashpoit you missed a bit...check server.dbo in your tables

I have a error while running the launcher, I have attached the neccessary details which I felt has the problem i.e I get a wierd error for my Launcher. I think the problem is that my locator does not show anything and my system.mrs is around just 70kbs.
I Tried logging in with the Legacy Gamers Patch, In that I see a Quest Server but I get "Cannot access server" error instantly.

I think your launcher is trying to update and cant find the file it needs. Just in your client folder make a GunzLauncher.ini and put in it : @SKIP_UPDATE

Thanks for your reply wesman2232, It worked, my bad I had named the same ini as GunzUpdater.ini earlier :|
Now I have a new problem that when I click the Start Game nothing comes up :(
I have pasted the runnable by Xiao in the client folder as theduel.exe and Gunz.exe.

Note: For the editing part I have made the IP "5.226.222.555" as "127.0.0.1...." , I'm not sure if this is the correct way. Please correct me If I'm wrong.

it looks right

try renaming gunz.exe to the theduel.exe

if it still doesnt open show me ur mlog.txt

Okay I got it working I was using a old BR Client, downloaded the one in the tutorial and now its working.

well i read your tut and thought editing the launcher would bring up my server name when trying to log in, but now i cant use the gunzlauncher.exe cause it says its not a valid Win32 application.....
and no im not trying to make a auto update server right now, i just wanna get in my server and play...
