hi! this the first tym iam going to setup my PT server just going to play OFFLINE. i read sik guide and runhuant guide same i think. last nyt i creat it i. but the problem i encountered is cont connect to trhe server message [unable to connect] but i think i know the problem bec i dont edit the reg.ini. because i dont know how.

i would like to aks if my server is working fine ill attached the picture.. tnx.

by the way could any one post how to edit registry files of pristontale, i go to start/run/regedit/ and found two folders of pristontale i expand all the other one has other foldder 10000 if iam not mistaken the other one with the version 3060 or 3090 forgotten.

i think the file look like this the ini file its not indicated as ini

some questions:
1-i have to put hotuk.ini in the client folder?
2-i start the server by the the game.exe in the client folder?
3-i have to tranfer any of other files that doesn't are the char and field folders?
4-if my acc is esopog i put in databases>accounts_db>tables>dbo.EGameuser ?
5-i have to do update of the client ?

Just checking if I got this right.

Using BNF s.client, ept3096 (English) with peyPT 1860.

And all changes to hotuk,ldata and register is done.

a question, when setting up the database: JayPT1000\SQLEXPRESS, am i supposed to use the "jayPT1000" as server name in reg file,ldata and hotuk? or doesnt that matter?

When executing the server it connects to internet on 127.0.0.1 and wants to act as a server on 0.0.0.0 port 100007, so far so good? right? Then starting the game using peyPT and it wants to connect to 127.0.0.1, sweet.

now trying to connect to the game cant. I created an account in (using guide in recourses) database/accountdb/tables/dbo.Agameuser. Using idname: ape and pass: ape setting all others to 0, except time stuff. 1-1-1900 and 1-1-2100. Do i need to type jayPT1000 in "server" or should i keep that one 0 also?

Hello sik, i am new to creating a server, but i've been trying for about 3 weeks now. And i've still had the same probelm over and over. I would like it if someone would please help me.
I followed this exzact guide accordingly, i used both madnessrepack and BNF files to try out. Both of them didn't work correctly. I've tried both WAN and LAN ips. Also tried port forwarding my ports from 10000-10009. I am still not able to connect to the server. I have removed SQL.DLL to use ODBC. Yet it sitll doesnt work. I've been trying to use either jPT, or xPTs Admin clients+ hotuks. If anybody would please have the chance to help me out it would be nice thankyou.

hmm so far no errors with the server But how do i get the client
to connect ? done most of the stuff but i cant get in the game i get GameGuard Error Evry time and if i use the rPT-Patch_11mar i get Xtrap error
Can some one plz a step by step Sorry to ask but its so annoying getting errors whent its the client and not the server :wink2:

your odbc is trying to connect to your SQL using shared memory. ONLY use tcp/ip to connect to sql server, it's just easier. Just look in the options and change network libraries to tcp/ip

MY files stays Microsoft SQL server query files. what do i do?

Is there anyone here that might beable to help me personaly, to set up a server. I've follow this guide completely. Installed the SQL, PT SQL FILES. Tried Madness repack and BNF files. Both have not worked for me. If anyone would please kindly help by giving me advice it would be nice.

You should be able to easily make a reg file, or simple just edit your registry entries if they are already input there. Idata.bmp can be found in the Images folder.

And is there a way to get a launcher that always takes the newest ip ? Because I have no static IP, would be good if that would go for other people to play without changing IP everytime -_- ! Help would be cool ! Thank you !

I would like to know about the skillmaster bug too. I don't have problems with it, but just in case I would like to know how to fix it lol
Error 58 is your clan system being unable to connect to the database. It could be incorrect permissions or settings in the files. It's the most ambiguous error for the clan system lol
Also, you're kinda screwed on the dynamic ip lol, buy a static one ^_^

To figure out which client you need for your server, first start your server. Now, open a command prompt (Vista users may need an admin command prompt....) and run "netstat -a" command. You'll see which port your server is listening on in the list.

You can diagnose "connection failed" problems by having your sql server and/or odbc connection(s) write event logs temporarily until the problem is solved. Maybe your account registration script/webpage/hand edit didn't fill in the correct field or gave bad values in accountdb. The logs will show the query and response from the server which will tell you which fields the login request is asking for and from which table. If the logs remain empty, you have connection issues.

Here's another newsflash.. There's nothing to say that different versions of the server all interpret hotuk.ini commands the same way? Don't be afraid to open up the server's .exe in a hex editor and poke around. You may find that one server has "*PK_FIELD (%s)0" while another has "*PK_FIELD (%s) (%s) (%s)0". Maybe the later server allows 3 fields for PKs, or maybe it's still 1 field, but now has a minimum level requirement and level difference for PKs. This is just an example. Just trying to illustrate that experimenting is how you get from being a monkey with a typewriter to being Shakespeare. One of the better parts of the human experience.

Be very careful when poking around your computer's setup. You might accidentally learn something (like always make a backup first). It's been known to be addictive and you may discover that you're a geek.

Thanks much for the guide Sik. But after seeing how you got bombarded with technical questions, I'll be sure to be a 'behind the scenes' contributer. Too many people run for help and haven't even taken the time to learn how their computer, network, operating system, sql server, etc work. Even when a big fat error message whacks'em in the face telling them what the problem is.

typezerophoenix, did you input the correct user/pass? The usual login for it is "sa" btw unless you changed yours. Also did you use c8master?

put ur account id under "debug_id" in the hotuk (server side) remove the debug_ip btw.
then when u load the client wif the admin hotuk (windowd) u will know cause wen u log in u will see server messages.
then to get lvl 3 you do "/:adminname(what u set in ur hotuk) gm3pass
for instance if level 3 pass is set to fletcher and "admin name" is set to PT1 then you'd do
/:PT1 fletcher
and u will geta msg saying "gm level 3 activated" :)

you dont Explain to set the SQL.dll!

Open the SQL.dll with a Hex editor, find the ips and change them to your ip, next to the ips you'll see a Sql user ("sa" is the most used) and the password. Just change them to your user and pass.

I was wondering if any of you could please recommend me some other guide on how to setup a private server.
I have been trying to setup a server for 7 straight days now, and i've tried everything, really everything, but i still can't do it.
I really am embarassed because there are so many detailed guides on RageZone, and still i have problems.
I downloaded kPt, dPt, version 1871 server files, SQL Server Management Studio Express
NetFramework 2.0 and SQL scripts etc.
for example: I downloaded kPt and clicked the PsUpdate(test) button, and then i've put dPt in that folder and installed that. but what do i do with the server files? do i just have to put them in a random map orso?
really guys, i know there are so many people on this site who run a private server, and i would really like to have one too.
i'm not planning on going public, just for myself.
i am ashamed of myself to say this, but i think i can only do this with a step-by-step guide, but i really mean step-by-step.

You dont use MySQL with these files you use MSSQL... and its very hard to have both MySQL and MSSQL on one server, i tried it. Either im doing it wrong or its just impossible (well not impossible bcuz my cousin did it but its damn hard)

When I type '/;Admin Hello3' nothing happens, I even tried '/;[GM]Strix Hello3' but I just pm my self and I tried it like '/:' instead of '/;' still same. I also tried to enter in hotuk my account name istead of character's but same.

Would you recommend someone with 1.60GHz and 504MB of RAM run the server for around 5 friends just to have fun? I mean will it lag or anything? Just wondering, anyone? lol Thanks

My server folder is like in the attach

I'm using a kPT client-folder and the BloodPT.exe that I saw in other guide
I'm running the server by the -KPT-Endless-Tower-Update-V2.2.exe
Using the McMadness Repack

I already deleted the SQL.dll

But it still doesn't connect...Any help?

ps: what is the best client to try? I'm trying bPT rPT and a kPT

Um I have a problem like ShadowPT in the posts on page one.

Where the SQL Server Management Studio Express would not let me login.
First, I installed SQL Express, named the server ZeroPT and passworded it.
Then I installed SQL Server Management, selected SQL Server Authentication, and then put all my info in but I got an error

The error I got is in the attachment file, Please help if you can thank youz!

I did everything what the Guide said, but still this problem, I tried to change IP many times but no succes.

Anyone knowns how to correct the dc1 that happens when someone 12x+ ups?

If anyone still reads this, would you be able to tell me what to do when your server has 15+ people on and it crashes frequently?

We get DC (1) and it's irritating. I know it isn't the game files, it only happens when there are too many players on.
I'm considering a data flush script or program, if someone relatively knowledged on this comes on, please help me =) I have no idea how I would go about installing most fix's.

Hi Jess, did u enable the multi incomming connections in the router?, everyrouter have a limit in connections, u should change that. If u did, the server.exe crashed? if thats the case, then it can be a memory problem (i suggest upgrate the ram memory and do a defrag in the hdd. I cant think in another problem unless some wrong script or program running, test with out the auto restarter cuz it can give some errors as well.

All links still work fine here, and Mikes guide is one of the major tutorials I followed when setting up for the first time. That, and Swezids "Idiots guide".

The one that came with the client you installed, or extracted... or optionally, one that came with your server... one that comes with the server is likely to use the same protocol, levelling and item lists... the one that came with your client is more likely to use all the meshes and textures that came with it, and pretty much guaranteed not to need anything else.

Ultimately, you will want to develop your own client by mixing, matching bits from others, and then adding bits of your own.

This is a server set-up guide... connection issues and client configuration are covered in other threads, since it very much depends on what version of who's client you use as to what needs to be done to configure it and what issues exist within it. This thread, and your post says nothing about what client you are using... until we know something about that, we can only offer basic info that applies to any client.

So I installed SQL Manager and an SQL database was created and rendered in the ODBC SQL server and have made a registry and ldata.bmp and that is all, and my question now is what I need yet? to bouts ever to play what I need to do more?

You know that the first post was truncated months ago by a server transfer right?

You can't just post an Idata.bmp the way Mike did any more, because the EOF bytes will just end your post, as has happened to this one.

I don't remember what else was in there, but I think I have a backup somewhere.

Once again make sure to change the IPs, place this file in your PT folder (Client folder NOT server folder) within the images directory, it will ask you to replace, select yes.

26.) Make sure you have the correct client for the server version your using: kPT = 1840 - 1860 and 2331 (for older kPT servers), jPT = 3096 - 3100.

I've not read through the whole guide in a while... but it's pretty complete... if you've done all of this, then you shouldn't need to do anything else. Create a user account, (if you haven't already) run the server, run the game, login and play.
